Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Building a serious espresso setup means accepting that your grinder dictates the ceiling of your coffee. You inevitably outgrow the guesswork of stepped collars and require the kind of control that respects the money you spend on beans. The Ascaso H64 relies on stepless micrometric adjustment to help you navigate the narrow margin between a sour shot and a balanced pour. Once you stop fighting the hardware, you can start trusting your technique.

Product Features

Stepless Micrometric Adjustment

The stepless micrometric grind adjustment gives infinite dial-in between settings so you can find the exact burr gap your espresso needs. That fine-grained control matters when small changes—fractions of a millimeter—shift extraction.

64mm Flat Steel Burrs

Built with 64mm flat steel burrs, the H64 produces a uniform particle distribution for clean, consistent extraction from espresso through cold brew. It uses the same flat burr geometry found in café grinders to reduce variability that can muddy flavor.

Silent, 280W Motor

The Silent, 280W motor is engineered to run quietly for early-morning routines while handling dense, oily beans without bogging down. Lower noise keeps your countertop workflow calm when you’re dialing in shots.

Programmable Timed Dosing

Programmable timed dosing lets you store up to three timed doses (plus manual) for fast, repeatable espresso pulls without weighing every shot. It speeds your routine while keeping dose-to-dose consistency.

Single-Dose Mode & Blow-Out Hopper

Single-dose mode lets you grind only what you need for pour-over or AeroPress, minimizing retention; the included blow-out hopper helps purge grounds between bean changes. When you want capacity, the 300g bean hopper is ready for regular home use.

Adjustable Portafilter Holder

The adjustable portafilter holder accommodates a range of portafilter basket sizes for hands-free grinding directly into your basket. The H64 also includes a dosing cup and cup fork so you can start dialing in right away.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Daily Espresso Drinkers — If you pull a few shots every morning and want consistency without fuss, the 64mm flat steel burrs and straightforward controls make that easy
  • Budget-Conscious Upgraders — A solid step above entry-level without the price tag of prosumer equipment. Good coffee doesn't require a second mortgage

It's Right For You If:

  • You want a home grinder with 64mm flat steel burrs big enough to grind cool and consistent — a noticeable step up from the 40mm entry-level units.
  • The stepless micrometric adjustment lets you move between espresso and coarser brew methods without losing your settings — versatile enough for households with different coffee preferences.

Things to Consider:

  • At 7.0kg, it's heavier than most home grinders. Solid build, but it'll claim permanent counter real estate.
  • No dedicated sound dampening — it's not the loudest grinder out there, but early-morning users in shared spaces should be aware.

Our Take:

The Ascaso H64 Espresso Grinder with 64mm flat steel burrs is a genuine step up from entry-level. If you are serious enough about coffee to be reading product descriptions on a specialty site, this is the right tier.

Most grinders in the $500–$800 range ask you to pick a side: espresso or filter, hopper-fed or single-dose. The Ascaso H64 refuses that compromise. Built around 64mm hardened flat steel burrs and a true stepless micrometric collar, it dials in with the surgical precision espresso demands — then opens all the way up to coarse filter and cold brew without breaking a sweat.

Add programmable dosing, a 60 dB noise profile quieter than most budget grinders, and a purpose-built anti-static system, and you have a machine that genuinely earns its place on a serious home bar.

1 Year Warranty ($199+ Value)

Every Oscar Mood sold through Coffeeionado includes a 1-year warranty covering manufacturer's defects — parts included from the date of purchase. A commercial machine is a capital investment. If something goes wrong on Nuova Simonelli's end, it gets resolved on our end. We stand behind every machine we sell.

Paid Shipping ($59+ Value)

This coffee grinder ships free to the continental USA — handling and insurance all covered. We coordinate delivery so it arrives safely and on schedule, no hidden charges at checkout. For Caribbean and international orders, contact us for a custom quote.

64mm Hardened Flat Burrs

Burr diameter is the single biggest predictor of grind quality at a given price point — larger burrs move more coffee at lower RPM, generating less heat and more even particle distribution. At 64mm, the H64 punches well above its price class. The hardened steel construction holds its edge over years of daily use without the brittleness that plagues some ceramic alternatives. The result is a grind that's consistent shot to shot, not just grinder-to-grinder on spec sheets.

True Stepless Adjustment — Dial In, Not Jump In

Stepped grinders give you predetermined click points. The H64's stepless micrometric collar gives you infinite positions across the full grind range — from fine Turkish to coarse cold brew — so you can move in increments as small as the dial allows. For espresso, where the difference between a 25-second and 35-second shot can be a fraction of a turn, this matters more than any other spec on the sheet. The collar is firm and predictable, with no backlash or drift once set.

Three Programmable Doses Plus Manual Mode

The H64's digital display and dosing system lets you store two timed doses for repeated workflows — single and double, or two different recipes — plus a third custom dose and an open-ended manual pulse mode for weighing into a cup. Once dialed, single-touch grinding keeps your morning routine consistent without fiddling. The display is clean and legible, and programming takes about thirty seconds to learn.

Hopper-Fed or Single-Dose — Your Workflow, Your Call

The H64 ships ready to run either way. Load the 300g hopper for back-to-back brewing — weekday mornings, hosting guests, grinding ahead for batch brew. Or remove the hopper and use the included bellows and mini-hopper for single-dose work: weigh your beans, drop them in, grind. The bellows clears most of the retained grounds between doses, making it genuinely usable as a single-dose platform rather than a retrofitted workaround.

Single-dose performance is strong for the price point. Retention runs approximately 0.5–1g under typical conditions — competitive at this tier, though dedicated single-dose grinders with RDT and WDT can push lower.

Who It's For

Home baristas who've outgrown entry-level grinders and want to invest once rather than upgrade again in two years. The H64 is the kind of machine that holds its own as your espresso skills advance — and grows with you as you start exploring filter and cold brew alongside espresso.

Right for You If...

  • You pull espresso at home daily and want consistent, repeatable results without the guesswork of a stepped grinder
  • You want one grinder that does espresso, pour-over, and batch brew without buying multiple machines
  • You're upgrading from a conical burr grinder under $400 and want a meaningful performance jump
  • You value quiet operation — 60 dB keeps early-morning sessions from waking the house
  • You want the flexibility to go single-dose some days and hopper-fed others

Things to Consider

  • It's a home grinder, not a commercial one. The H64 is designed and rated for home use by Ascaso. If you need a grinder pulling 50+ shots a day in a café, look at commercial options like the Mazzer Super Jolly V Pro or Mahlkönig E65S.
  • Single-dose retention is good, not perfect. Expect ~0.5–1g of retained grounds. If you're obsessive about zero-retention workflows, look at grinders with purpose-built single-dose burr geometry — though you'll pay more for it.
  • No built-in scale. For consistent dosing by weight (recommended), you'll want a separate 0.1g precision scale. We're happy to recommend one — get in touch.

Anti-Static System — Less Mess, Better Workflow

Static is the enemy of single-dose grinding: grounds cling to the exit chute, spray across the counter, and make accurate dosing frustrating. Ascaso's built-in anti-static system reduces the charge generated during grinding, keeping grounds together and landing in the portafilter where they belong. It's not the flashiest feature on the spec sheet, but it's one you'll notice every morning.

Product FAQ

Is the Ascaso H64 a single-dose grinder, and what is the expected retention?

Yes, the H64 is designed specifically for a single-dose workflow. It features a bellows system at the top to blow out trapped grounds, resulting in extremely low retention (near zero), ensuring that the weight you put in is the weight you get out.

Does the H64 use stepless adjustment for dialing in espresso?

Yes, the H64 features a micrometric stepless adjustment system. This allows for infinite control over the grind size, enabling you to make the tiny adjustments necessary to perfect your espresso extraction.

What type of burrs come standard with the H64 and can they be upgraded?

The H64 comes with professional 64mm flat burrs featuring a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating for longevity and reduced friction. Because it uses a standard 64mm size, it is compatible with popular aftermarket burrs like SSP.

How noisy is the motor during the grinding process?

The Ascaso H64 uses a high-efficiency DC motor which is significantly quieter than traditional AC motor grinders. While not silent, it produces a lower-pitched, less intrusive sound that is suitable for early morning use in home environments.

Does this grinder have a 'Grind-by-Weight' function?

No, the H64 does not have an integrated scale. It is a single-dose grinder where the user weighs the beans before grinding. This prevents coffee from sitting in a hopper and getting stale.

Is the H64 capable of grinding for filter coffee and pour-over as well as espresso?

While the H64 is primarily optimized for the precision required for espresso, its stepless range is wide enough to accommodate coarser settings for AeroPress, pour-over, and drip coffee.

Does the grinder include anti-static features to prevent mess?

The H64 is designed with an anti-static finish and comes with a dosing cup that fits snugly under the chute. While it is very clean, many users still recommend a light RDT (spritzing beans with water) for the best results in dry climates.

What is the height of the machine, and will it fit under standard US kitchen cabinets?

The H64 stands approximately 14.5 inches tall with the bellows attached. This compact profile allows it to fit easily under standard 18-inch US kitchen cabinets with room to spare.
