History of Poursteady
The idea behind Poursteady emerged in 2012 when a group of robotics engineers began exploring how automation could reproduce the deliberate pouring patterns used in specialty coffee. The company was founded in Brooklyn in 2015 to turn that concept into a commercial brew-bar system.
Rather than replace recipe development, Poursteady was designed to repeat it. Programmable pours allow cafés to serve several hand-brew-style coffees while maintaining consistency through changing staff and service peaks.
Get to know Poursteady
Poursteady automates the movement and timing of water across multiple brewing stations. Baristas retain control over coffee, grind, dose, and recipe design while the machine handles repeatable pulse patterns and pours.
That separation can increase throughput without turning pour-over into a push-button black box. Guests still see an open brewing process, and cafés can keep distinct recipes for different coffees.
Poursteady makes the most sense when a café values manual-brew quality but struggles with the labor and variability of producing several cups at once. It creates a more manageable station while freeing baristas to prep, serve, and engage with guests.
The platform is less about speed at any cost and more about giving a considered filter-coffee program a repeatable way to grow.
