The touchscreen stores two timed doses for single- and double-shot service and includes a dose counter.

460W U.S. Motor

A 65 mm flat tempered-steel burr set produces 2.8–3.8 g/s at 60 Hz for repeatable on-demand espresso grinding.

Continuous manual mode lets the barista top off a dose or grind without using a stored timer.

Stepless micrometric adjustment provides fine control over espresso grind size and extraction.

A die-cast aluminum body, 12 kg net weight, and stainless-steel portafilter centering device create a stable professional work platform.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Small cafés and espresso bars needing two timed doses in a compact commercial grinder.
  • Offices and hospitality counters that value straightforward touchscreen operation and a large hopper.
  • Serious home espresso setups with the space and electrical supply for a full commercial grinder.

It's Right For You If:

  • You want 65 mm flat-burr espresso grinding with two programmable timers and continuous manual control.
  • Your service pattern fits a 35-second-on / 360-second-off maximum duty cycle rather than continuous bulk grinding.

Things to Consider:

  • Dosing is time-based rather than grind-by-weight, so recalibrate after bean or grind-setting changes.
  • The manual specifies a maximum 35-second run followed by 360 seconds off; this is an espresso grinder, not a continuous-duty bulk grinder.
  • At 591 mm tall with the hopper installed, it needs adequate overhead clearance.

Our Take:

The Zip Pro is a good fit for lower-volume professional espresso service that wants a familiar touchscreen workflow and a substantial 1.4 kg hopper. Its duty cycle is the key sizing consideration: it performs well for spaced café doses, but it is not intended for uninterrupted bulk grinding.

Product FAQ

What type and size of burrs does the La Pavoni Zip Pro Espresso Grinder use?

The La Pavoni Zip Pro uses flat, commercial‑grade steel burrs (Ø 64 mm). Flat steel burrs are designed to deliver consistent, uniform particle size and are ideal for espresso-focused grinding in busy environments.

How long do the burrs typically last, and how often do they need to be replaced?

Burr life depends on volume and bean hardness, but for typical café or restaurant use you can expect roughly 600–800 kg of coffee before noticing a drop in performance. In a lower‑volume setting, this often translates to 1–3 years of use. If you notice slower grinding, more fines, or inconsistent shots, it’s time to replace or sharpen the burrs.

Is the La Pavoni Zip Pro a stepless grinder and can I fine‑tune the grind for espresso?

Yes. The Zip Pro uses a stepless micrometric adjustment system, allowing you to finely dial in the grind size for different espresso recipes and to compensate for changes in beans, roast level, or ambient conditions.

Is this grinder suitable for different environments such as cafés, restaurants, or offices?

The Zip Pro is designed as a commercial espresso grinder, making it well‑suited for cafés, restaurants, and higher‑volume office or bar setups. It combines a powerful motor with large flat burrs and a dosing system capable of keeping up with continuous drink preparation.

Can the Zip Pro grind for both espresso and filter coffee, or is it espresso‑only?

While the stepless collar technically allows a wide range of grind sizes, the Zip Pro is optimized for espresso and fine grinding. It can be adjusted coarser for moka or some brew methods, but if you frequently prepare drip or pour‑over, a dedicated filter grinder is generally recommended for the best results and easier switching between settings.

Does the grinder offer timed or manual dosing, and how is the coffee dispensed?

The La Pavoni Zip Pro is a doser grinder. Beans are ground into a dosing chamber, and you pull the dosing lever to deliver pre‑measured portions into the portafilter. The grinding itself is controlled with a simple on/off switch for manual operation, rather than programmable shot‑by‑time or grind‑by‑weight dosing.

Is operation hands‑free, and does it include a portafilter holder?

The Zip Pro is designed around a classic doser setup. You rest the portafilter on the forks under the doser and operate the dosing lever by hand. It does not use a modern clamp‑style hands‑free portafilter fork with automatic start/stop, but once coffee is in the doser, dispensing into the portafilter is quick and requires minimal handling.

How fast does the grinder work, and can it keep up with multiple drinks in a row?

With its commercial motor and 64 mm burr set, the Zip Pro can grind approximately 6–8 grams of coffee per second, depending on the roast and grind size. It’s built to handle continuous service and can comfortably keep up with a steady stream of espresso orders typical in small to medium‑volume cafés and restaurants.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 90 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is the customer's responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be the customer's responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If the customer's location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain the customer's responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

What to Expect on Install Day

Getting a commercial espresso machine delivered is one thing. Getting it actually running — plumbed, programmed, and pulling properly — is another. Here's what happens when the technician comes out.

Before the appointment: Site preparation will be confirmed before technicians make it out. Once your machine ships, we'll coordinate scheduling with you and assign a local certified technician. Before they arrive, make sure your space is ready: the machine's permanent location should be determined, your water line and drain access should be in place, and your electrical supply should match the machine's requirements.

On the day The technician will handle the physical installation of the machine — positioning, water line connection, and drain setup. Once it's plumbed and powered, they'll run through the setup and basic programming: boiler pressure, shot parameters, and confirming that water flows correctly through the group heads and steam wands. Some basic training will be provided, they'll pull test shots to verify the machine is operating within spec.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
