Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

The Robur S is Mazzer’s high-volume conical-burr workhorse. Its 71 mm burrs produce about 6.0 g/s at 60 Hz while turning at only 500 RPM, and the redesigned low-retention chamber, dual-fan cooling, GFC outlet, and three timed recipes are built for sustained two- and three-group espresso service.

Product Features

52% Lower Retention

The redesigned chamber and lower burr carrier reduce retention by 52% compared with the preceding Robur, helping preserve freshness and reduce purge waste.

71 mm Conical Burrs

Mazzer’s 71 mm hardened-steel conical burrs average about 6.0 g/s at 60 Hz while running at a low 500 RPM, giving the bar exceptional throughput without high burr speed.

Three Timed Doses + Manual

Three programmable time-based recipes, manual grinding, and a barista pause function support fast, repeatable dosing through peak service.

Grind Flow Control

The removable GFC outlet accepts Hybrid, AntiClumping, and AntiDust dampers, letting the bar tune chute flow and static behavior to the coffee and environment.

Dual-Fan Split-Chassis Cooling

A double-fan cooling system and split chassis help manage motor and chamber temperature during prolonged high-volume grinding.

Easy Cleaning, Setting Preserved

The lower burr carrier can be removed for cleaning while the upper setting remains in place, reducing recalibration work after routine maintenance.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • High-volume specialty cafés running two- or three-group espresso machines.
  • Busy hospitality, bakery, and restaurant programs with hard peak periods.
  • Operators who want maximum conventional espresso throughput with low-RPM conical grinding.

It's Right For You If:

  • You need a primary espresso grinder for sustained, high-volume two- or three-group service.
  • You want very fast output with low-RPM conical burrs, active cooling, low retention, and programmable time dosing.

Things to Consider:

  • Dosing is time-based, not grind-by-weight; pair it with a scale when gram-level verification is required.
  • At 28 kg with a 1.6 kg hopper, it needs a permanent full-size counter position.
  • Its cost and capacity are difficult to justify for a low-volume bar that rarely exceeds roughly 150 drinks per day.

Our Take:

For peak-hour espresso output, the Robur S is one of the strongest conventional time-dosing choices in this catalog. Six grams per second, low-RPM conical burrs, active cooling, and lower retention make it a natural primary grinder for a genuinely busy bar.

Product FAQ

What type and size of burrs does the Mazzer Robur S use, and are they conical or flat?

The Mazzer Robur S uses large conical burrs (71 mm) designed specifically for high-volume espresso grinding. Conical burrs provide excellent particle consistency, low heat transfer, and are ideal for busy espresso service.

How long do the burrs typically last, and how often should I replace them?

Burr life depends on volume and bean hardness, but for most commercial environments you can expect roughly 1,500–2,000 kg of coffee before replacement is recommended. In very busy cafes this may mean replacement every 12–18 months; in lighter use settings, they can last several years. Monitor grind speed, consistency, and flavor—slower grinding and flatter-tasting shots are signs it’s time to change burrs.

Is the Mazzer Robur S a stepless grinder, and how precise is the grind adjustment?

Yes, the Mazzer Robur S uses stepless micrometric grind adjustment. This allows for extremely fine tuning of grind size with no fixed ‘clicks,’ making it ideal for dialing in espresso shots very precisely.

Is the Robur S suitable for my type of business or setup (café, restaurant, high-volume bar)?

The Mazzer Robur S is designed primarily for commercial and high-volume environments such as specialty cafés, coffee bars, and busy restaurants with significant espresso drink demand. Its powerful motor, large conical burrs, and fast throughput make it best suited to operations pulling many espresso shots per hour rather than very low-volume setups.

Can the Mazzer Robur S grind for both espresso and filter coffee?

The Robur S is optimized for espresso and very fine grind settings. While it can be adjusted coarser, it is not the most convenient choice if you frequently switch between espresso and filter settings. It’s best used as a dedicated espresso grinder rather than a multi-purpose grinder.

How fast is the Mazzer Robur S, and can it keep up with multiple drinks during rushes?

The Robur S is engineered for speed and consistency in busy service. With its powerful motor and 71 mm conical burrs, it can grind a typical double espresso dose in just a few seconds, allowing it to keep up with a high volume of drinks during peak periods in a busy café or restaurant.

Does the Mazzer Robur S have timed or manual dosing, and is it a grind-by-weight grinder?

The Mazzer Robur S offers electronic, programmable timed dosing so you can set precise dose times for single, double, or custom shots, as well as manual dosing if needed. It is not a true grind-by-weight grinder; dosing is controlled by time rather than an integrated scale.

Does the Robur S have a cooling fan or features to manage heat during heavy use?

Yes, the Mazzer Robur S is built for continuous commercial use and incorporates design features to manage heat, including efficient motor design and airflow. Selected configurations include active cooling (fan-assisted) to help keep the grinding chamber and motor temperature stable during intense rush periods, which protects coffee quality and grinder longevity.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 90 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is the customer's responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be the customer's responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If the customer's location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain the customer's responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

What to Expect on Install Day

Getting a commercial espresso machine delivered is one thing. Getting it actually running — plumbed, programmed, and pulling properly — is another. Here's what happens when the technician comes out.

Before the appointment: Site preparation will be confirmed before technicians make it out. Once your machine ships, we'll coordinate scheduling with you and assign a local certified technician. Before they arrive, make sure your space is ready: the machine's permanent location should be determined, your water line and drain access should be in place, and your electrical supply should match the machine's requirements.

On the day The technician will handle the physical installation of the machine — positioning, water line connection, and drain setup. Once it's plumbed and powered, they'll run through the setup and basic programming: boiler pressure, shot parameters, and confirming that water flows correctly through the group heads and steam wands. Some basic training will be provided, they'll pull test shots to verify the machine is operating within spec.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
