Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

High-volume espresso doesn't leave much room for equipment that needs constant recalibration. The Mythos Basic is designed for the operator who knows that a cafe’s reputation is won or lost on the consistency of the tenth drink in a row. The inclusion of Clump Crusher technology means your baristas spend less time fixing the puck and more time engaging with the person across the counter. This is for the business that has moved past the trial-and-error phase of coffee service.

Product Features

Stepless Micrometric Adjustment

The Stepless Micrometric Adjustment gives infinite, click-free control over grind size so baristas can dial in the exact setting a recipe requires. That level of granularity makes on-the-fly adjustments during service fast and repeatable.

Steel Burrs (75mm)

Precision-machined 75mm steel burrs provide a consistent particle distribution that supports even extraction shot after shot. Rated to grind up to 1,500 pounds before replacement, they’re built for the throughput and durability commercial settings demand.

Clump Crusher Technology

Clump Crusher Technology breaks up fines and eliminates clumps to deliver a fluffy, evenly distributed dose ideal for espresso extraction. Reducing clumps lowers variability and helps prevent channeling under heavy use.

Multi-Function LCD Display

The Multi-Function LCD Display lets operators set and lock dose values, choose barista modes, and prevent accidental changes. Clear, programmable controls streamline workflow and keep calibration stable across shifts.

Portafilter Holder

The integrated Portafilter Holder secures the portafilter during dosing so the barista can multitask without compromising alignment. It simplifies single-step dosing and improves consistency during busy service.

High-Capacity Hopper & Motor

A 3.2 kg hopper combined with an 800W, high-speed burr motor (110–125V, 8A, NEMA 5-15) keeps beans feeding steadily for sustained periods of service. Fewer refills and consistent throughput make it practical for high-volume environments.

With the upgraded gold warranty you receive one point of contact for all your service needs along with 1 courtesy call. For added convenience you will receive a no freight damage guarantee.

Paid Shipping

At Coffeeionado, we understand the frustration of hidden costs when making online purchases. This is why we're thrilled to announce that we now cover all shipping, freight, and handling charges for our premium coffee equipment within the continental USA. Gone are the days of considering additional fees as you add items to your cart.

Cool, Low-Speed Grinding

The Mythos Basic is the entry point into the Mythos line, and it's built around a deliberate design choice: a low motor speed of around 400 RPM. Slower burr rotation means less friction, and less friction means the grounds stay cooler through the whole grind cycle -- protecting the bean's aroma and flavor rather than cooking it off. It's a trade -- Basic won't out-grind the Plus or Clima Pro in a full-tilt rush -- but for cafés, offices, and restaurants running low-to-medium volume, that low-heat grind is exactly the point.

Multi-tasker Friendly

It features a multifunction LCD display and 3 programmable dosing quantities so that you get a consistent clump free grind in every dose. The Mythos Basic is able to hold the portafilter while it is dosing, which allows you to easily focus on other tasks during the process. Nuova Simonelli has made this grinder sturdy, simple to use, easy to clean, and an overall dependable choice for a busy counter.

Product FAQ

What type and size of burrs does the Nuova Simonelli Mythos Basic Espresso Grinder use?

The Nuova Simonelli Mythos Basic uses large 75 mm flat burrs designed specifically for espresso grinding, providing very consistent particle size and excellent flavor clarity for high‑volume use.

How long do the burrs typically last, and how often should they be replaced?

Burr life depends on volume and bean hardness, but for a busy commercial setting they typically last around 600–1,200 kg (1,300–2,600 lb) of coffee. In a high‑volume café this often translates to roughly 12–18 months; in lower‑volume use they can last several years. Replace them when you notice slower grinding, more clumping, or a decline in shot flavor and consistency.

Is the Mythos Basic a stepless grinder, and how precise is the grind adjustment?

Yes. The Mythos Basic has a stepless, micrometric adjustment system that lets you make very small, precise changes to the grind size. This is ideal for dialing in espresso shots where fine control over flow rate and extraction is critical.

Is this grinder only for espresso, or can it also grind for filter coffee or other brew methods?

The Mythos Basic is optimized for espresso and excels in the fine grind range. While it can be adjusted coarser, it is not designed as a multi‑purpose grinder and is not ideal if you frequently switch between espresso and drip, pour‑over, or French press settings.

What types of settings is the Mythos Basic best suited for (café, restaurant, home use)?

This is a commercial‑grade espresso grinder best suited for busy cafés, coffee bars, and restaurants that serve a high volume of espresso drinks. Enthusiast home users can use it, but its size, power, and features are primarily designed for professional environments.

Does the Mythos Basic use timed or manual dosing, and can I control the dose easily?

The Mythos Basic is a timed‑dosing, on‑demand grinder. You can program dosing times for consistency and also operate it manually for purging or quick adjustments. It does not grind by weight; dosing is controlled by time rather than an integrated scale.

How fast is this grinder, and can it keep up with multiple drinks during busy periods?

The Mythos Basic is designed for high‑volume service. It grinds a standard espresso dose in just a few seconds and can keep up with continuous use during rush periods without overheating, making it suitable for busy cafés and restaurants.

Does the Nuova Simonelli Mythos Basic have a cooling fan or temperature‑control features?

Yes. The Mythos Basic includes an internal cooling system that helps stabilize the temperature of the grinding chamber. This reduces heat transfer to the coffee during heavy use and improves shot‑to‑shot consistency.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 90 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is the customer's responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be the customer's responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If the customer's location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain the customer's responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

What to Expect on Install Day

Getting a commercial espresso machine delivered is one thing. Getting it actually running — plumbed, programmed, and pulling properly — is another. Here's what happens when the technician comes out.

Before the appointment: Site preparation will be confirmed before technicians make it out. Once your machine ships, we'll coordinate scheduling with you and assign a local certified technician. Before they arrive, make sure your space is ready: the machine's permanent location should be determined, your water line and drain access should be in place, and your electrical supply should match the machine's requirements.

On the day The technician will handle the physical installation of the machine — positioning, water line connection, and drain setup. Once it's plumbed and powered, they'll run through the setup and basic programming: boiler pressure, shot parameters, and confirming that water flows correctly through the group heads and steam wands. Some basic training will be provided, they'll pull test shots to verify the machine is operating within spec.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
