and hundreds of cafés, restaurants and offices.

The Sanremo SR83 is a high-output commercial espresso grinder with 83 mm flat steel burrs, a 650 W motor, active ventilation, two programmable timed doses, and manual mode. Its approximately 5.0 g/s 60 Hz output places it in medium- to high-volume primary espresso service.

Product Features

650 W Motor

The 650 W motor runs at 1,550 RPM on 60 Hz power and is paired with active ventilation for sustained service.

83mm Flat Steel Burrs

Large 83 mm flat steel burrs deliver approximately 5.0 g/s on 60 Hz power for fast, repeatable commercial espresso grinding.

CapSense Touchscreen

The CapSense touchscreen manages dose timing and displays coffee temperature, relative humidity, consumption statistics, and burr-wear information.

Timed Programmable Dosing

Program single and double timed doses to 0.1 second, with manual mode available for purging, dialing in, and topping off.

Stepless Micrometric Adjustment

A micrometric ring provides continuous, stepless adjustment for precise espresso recipe changes.

Commercial On-Demand Workflow

The 1.5 kg hopper, adjustable portafilter fork, and commercial chassis support medium- to high-volume bar workflow.

Our honest read

The Coffeeionado Take

Straight answers, before you buy.

Who's It For

  • Medium- and high-volume cafés using it as a primary espresso grinder.
  • Multi-barista teams that need repeatable timed dosing and operating data.
  • Bars stepping up from a smaller 64 mm grinder to reduce rush-hour bottlenecks.

It's Right For You If

  • You need an 83 mm primary espresso grinder for a medium- or high-volume café.
  • You want fast timed dosing, a CapSense display, stepless adjustment, and active ventilation for multi-barista service.

Things to Consider

  • Dosing is controlled by time rather than an integrated scale, so dose weight should be checked as coffee and settings change.
  • The approximately 6 kg/day and 250–400-shot figures are planning estimates rather than manufacturer warranty limits.
  • The standard listing uses steel burrs; optional PVD-coated burrs should be confirmed on the exact configuration before advertising their longer life.

Our Take

The SR83 is built for cafés where the grinder can't be the excuse for a slow bar — 83mm burrs and on-demand dosing keep pace with real volume instead of just looking capable of it. If you're outfitting a busy multi-station operation and want a grinder your team can rely on without babysitting, this is the one to spec.

Product FAQ

What type and size of burrs does the Sanremo SR83 On Demand Espresso Grinder use?

The Sanremo SR83 On Demand Espresso Grinder is equipped with 83 mm flat burrs designed specifically for espresso. These large burrs provide fast, consistent grinding and are optimized to deliver uniform particle size for high‑quality espresso extraction in a commercial setting.

How long do the burrs typically last, and how often do they need to be replaced?

Burr life depends on volume and bean hardness, but in most commercial café settings the 83 mm flat burrs on the SR83 can last roughly 800–1,200 kg of coffee before a noticeable decline in cup quality. For a busy shop, that often translates to about 12–24 months of use. If you notice slower grinding, more fines, or a drop in shot quality even with the same recipe, it’s a good sign the burrs should be replaced sooner. Light‑roast or very hard beans will shorten burr life.

Is the Sanremo SR83 a stepless grinder, and how precise is the grind adjustment?

Yes. The Sanremo SR83 is a stepless grinder, allowing you to dial in the grind with very fine increments rather than fixed “clicks.” This gives you the precision needed to fine‑tune espresso shots for different coffees, doses, and brew ratios in a professional environment.

Is the SR83 suitable for both espresso and filter coffee grinding?

The SR83 is primarily designed and calibrated for espresso and other fine grind applications. While it can be adjusted coarser, its grind range, burr design, and workflow are optimized for espresso service rather than frequent switching between espresso and filter coffee. For heavy filter use or frequent switching, a dedicated filter grinder is generally recommended.

What types of settings is the Sanremo SR83 best suited for (café, restaurant, home, etc.)?

The SR83 is a commercial‑grade on‑demand grinder built for cafés, coffee bars, restaurants, and other high‑volume service environments. Its large burrs, fast grinding speed, and robust build are aimed at professional use. It can be used in low‑volume settings, but it is larger and more powerful than what most home users typically need.

Does the SR83 have hands‑free operation and support portafilter‑activated grinding?

Yes. The SR83 is designed for hands‑free operation with a fork/holder that supports the portafilter while grinding. A portafilter‑activated switch or programmed dose allows the barista to lock in the portafilter and let the grinder dose automatically, improving workflow and ergonomics during busy service.

Does the Sanremo SR83 use timed or manual dosing, and can I save multiple programs?

The SR83 is an on‑demand grinder with programmable timed dosing. It typically allows you to set and save multiple recipes (for example, single and double shot doses) via its digital interface. Many configurations also offer a manual mode for topping up or purging, giving you flexibility for dial‑in or custom doses.

How fast is the SR83, and can it keep up with peak café rushes?

Thanks to its 83 mm flat burrs and powerful motor, the SR83 is engineered for high‑volume service. In typical espresso ranges it can grind a standard double‑shot dose in just a few seconds, allowing it to keep pace with multiple drinks in a row. Exact speed depends on your grind setting and dose, but it is designed to handle continuous use in busy cafés without bogging down.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 90 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is the customer's responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be the customer's responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If the customer's location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain the customer's responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

What to Expect on Install Day

Getting a commercial espresso machine delivered is one thing. Getting it actually running — plumbed, programmed, and pulling properly — is another. Here's what happens when the technician comes out.

Before the appointment: Site preparation will be confirmed before technicians make it out. Once your machine ships, we'll coordinate scheduling with you and assign a local certified technician. Before they arrive, make sure your space is ready: the machine's permanent location should be determined, your water line and drain access should be in place, and your electrical supply should match the machine's requirements.

On the day The technician will handle the physical installation of the machine — positioning, water line connection, and drain setup. Once it's plumbed and powered, they'll run through the setup and basic programming: boiler pressure, shot parameters, and confirming that water flows correctly through the group heads and steam wands. Some basic training will be provided, they'll pull test shots to verify the machine is operating within spec.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
