Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

You have reached the point where guessing at variables is no longer a rewarding part of your morning ritual. Relying on luck to get a balanced shot is fine for beginners, but your palate has outgrown equipment that hides its inconsistencies from you. Integrating PID temperature control into this footprint means you stop managing the hardware and start managing the coffee. It is time to move past the entry-level learning curve and settle into the stability of a dedicated home setup.

Product Features

Adjustable OPV & Gauge

An adjustable OPV (over-pressure valve) regulates brewing pressure to prevent over-extraction, while the analog pressure gauge provides real-time feedback. That combination makes it easier to understand how grind, dose, and tamp affect pressure as you dial in shots.

PID Temperature Control

Digital PID temperature control with temperature and offset control lets you set brew temp in one-degree increments, so you can precisely tune extraction to each bean and roast. The clear display makes small tweaks quick during your morning routine.

Volumetric Programming & Pre-Infusion

Volumetric programmable settings let you store single and double shot volumes, set pre-infusion, and enable auto-standby for repeatable results. Pre-infusion evens extraction for a smoother, more consistent shot every time.

Thermoblock Boiler Design

The aluminum & stainless steel thermoblock group delivers continuous steam with stable pressure and lower energy consumption, and resists limescale buildup. Fresh water is drawn for every shot and the AISI 316 stainless steel water circuit prevents metal migration for cleaner flavor.

58mm Professional Portafilter

A true 58mm portafilter with an ergonomic walnut wood handle brings café-style dosing to your home setup. The machine includes five professional baskets (2 traditional, 2 pressurized, 1 monodose ESE), a stainless tamper and a blank basket for backflushing so you can experiment with single-doses, ESE pods, and standard baskets.

Electronic Steam Control & No-Burn Wand

Electronic steam control plus an improved no-burn steam wand make milk texturing safer and more comfortable during daily use. The setup gives consistent steam delivery so you can practice latte technique without worrying about hot handles.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Home users upgrading from pod machines — PID temperature control and a 58mm professional portafilter deliver real espresso quality with a gentle learning curve
  • First-time espresso buyers who want style — The retro Dream design looks great on the counter, and the PID ensures consistent brew temperature from the start
  • Daily home espresso drinkers — Volumetric programming and pre-infusion mean consistent shots without manual technique

It's Right For You If:

  • You want PID-controlled temperature stability and a 58mm portafilter without the warm-up wait of a traditional boiler.
  • Your daily shot count is 2–8 drinks across espresso and milk drinks.
  • You care about how your machine looks on the counter — the Dream's design is genuinely distinctive.

Things to Consider:

  • Thermoblock heating is fast (2–5 minutes) but has thermal mass limits — back-to-back milk drinks will require brief pauses.
  • The vibration pump is audible during extraction — not loud, but noticeable in a quiet kitchen.
  • The adjustable OPV lets you fine-tune brew pressure, which is a nice upgrade path as your technique develops.

Our Take:

The Dream PID in Black is the thermoblock machine for people who care about both shots and aesthetics — the retro design is genuinely beautiful, and the PID + 58mm portafilter combo delivers real espresso quality. We recommend it for home baristas who want fast heat-up without sacrificing the standard portafilter ecosystem.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • These guidelines are safe for most home espresso machines
  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Does the Ascaso Dream PID have a vibratory or rotary pump?

The Ascaso Dream PID uses a vibratory pump, not a rotary pump. Vibratory pumps are common in compact home machines and are reliable, but they are a bit louder than rotary pumps.

Does the Dream PID support pre-infusion, and is it adjustable?

Yes. The Ascaso Dream PID includes programmable pre-infusion. You can adjust the pre-infusion time through the PID controller so the coffee puck is gently soaked before full pressure is applied, which can improve extraction and crema.

Is the steam wand cool-touch or no-burn?

The Ascaso Dream PID is equipped with a no-burn steam wand. The outer surface does not get as hot as traditional wands, making it safer to handle and easier to clean, though the tip area can still become hot during steaming.

Can the Ascaso Dream PID be direct-plumbed to a water line?

No. The Dream PID is a reservoir-fed machine only and cannot be direct-plumbed. It uses a removable water tank that you manually fill and clean.

What type of boiler or heating system does the Dream PID use, and can it brew and steam at the same time?

The Ascaso Dream PID uses an aluminum and stainless steel thermoblock system rather than a traditional boiler. It heats very quickly and provides good temperature stability, but it is effectively a single-circuit system—so you cannot brew and steam simultaneously. You switch between brewing and steaming modes.

What kind of portafilter does it come with, and is it compatible with standard 58 mm accessories?

The Dream PID uses an E61-style 58 mm commercial-size portafilter. It typically ships with both pressurized and non-pressurized baskets. Because it’s a standard 58 mm size, most third-party tampers, baskets, and other 58 mm accessories will fit.

Does the PID let me adjust brew temperature and shot time, and can I see the temperature on the display?

Yes. The PID controller lets you adjust brew temperature in small increments and also program shot times for semi-automatic extraction. The digital display shows the set temperature and allows you to access other parameters, such as pre-infusion and standby settings.

How long does it take to heat up from a cold start to be ready for brewing and steaming?

Because it uses a thermoblock, the Dream PID heats up faster than traditional boiler machines. It typically reaches brewing temperature in about 5–10 minutes. For best results and temperature stability (portafilter and group warmed), many users allow around 10–15 minutes before pulling their first shot.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
