Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Most entry-level grinders eventually become a bottleneck for the person who has actually learned how to dial in a shot. This is the logical next step for those who want the consistency of 40mm conical steel burrs without the unnecessary footprint or price tag of a café-sized unit. Its straight-thru low retention design solves the common frustration of purging old grounds every time you want a fresh double. It matters because your morning routine shouldn't involve fighting your equipment before you've had your first sip.

Product Features

Outer Burr Drive

The Sette’s unique design spins the outer burr rather than the inner, effectively doubling grinding surface area and enabling very fast output—about 3.5–5.5 g/sec depending on setting. That speed shaves prep time while maintaining consistent grind for multiple pulls.

Straight-Thru Low Retention

The Sette 30’s straight-thru design moves beans from the hopper, through the burrs and directly into your portafilter or vessel, producing miniscule retention (about half a gram). For home baristas who switch beans or dose precisely, this keeps shots fresher and cleanup faster during morning routines.

Programmable Timed Dosing

A front-mounted LED lets you program one timed dose with 1/10th-second accuracy so you can reproduce the same time-based dose shot after shot. Once dialed in, a single button delivers reliable, repeatable dosing for your daily ritual.

40mm Conical Steel Burrs

The 40mm conical steel burrs, manufactured in Liechtenstein, produce a uniform particle distribution with a relative lack of fines and are built to remain sharp for years. That consistency translates to steadier extraction and predictable flavor at home.

Wide Stepped Grind Range

Use the adjustment dial to select from 31 stepped grind settings covering roughly 230–950 microns, so you can dial in fine espresso or move to medium-coarse brew methods. Jot down your preferred setting to reproduce the same result every morning.

Convertible Device Holder

The modular portaholder pegs reconfigure to accept a portafilter hook, the included 5.6 oz grounds bin, or brew devices like Hario drippers and AeroPress, letting you grind directly into whatever you’re using that day. This flexibility keeps the counter tidy and speeds transitions between brew methods.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Entry-Level Espresso & Brew Enthusiasts — Your first 'real' grinder. If you're upgrading from pre-ground coffee or a blade grinder, this is where consistent home brewing starts
  • Small Kitchen Dwellers — At 3.2kg, this grinder fits comfortably on a crowded counter without dominating your workspace

It's Right For You If:

  • You want freshly ground coffee every morning with the consistency only a burr grinder provides. The 40mm conical steel burrs deliver uniform particles across multiple brew methods.
  • At just 3.2kg, it won't dominate your counter space. Compact enough for small kitchens, capable enough for daily use.

Things to Consider:

  • The compact 3.2kg build is a plus for small kitchens, though the lighter construction means more vibration during grinding.
  • The 40mm burrs are adequate for daily home use, but they'll grind slower and generate more heat than larger alternatives — something to note if you frequently pull back-to-back shots.
  • Stepped grind settings give you clear detents between levels, but you sacrifice the infinite adjustability of stepless designs. For espresso, that can mean the difference between 'close enough' and 'nailed it.'

Our Take:

The Baratza Sette 30 Grinder grinds fast with almost zero retention — unusual at this price point. The straight-through path means what goes in comes out, which is exactly what you want for single-dosing on a budget.

Sette 30 Coffee Grinder by Baratza

This Baratza grinder gives you the consistency you need and delivers with almost no retention. The Sette 30 is a standout burr grinder designed in Liechtenstein and has finally come to the market after 8 years in the making.

It features a revolutionary design that utilizes an outer burr rotation while keeping the inner fixed which allows this small home espresso grinder to continually give you consistent uniform grinds.

The Sette 30 has a macro adjust for grind size, as well as 3 programmable settings for dosing. It produces a fast shot at 3.5 grams/second when grinding for espresso, and 5.5 grams/second at coarser settings.

The Sette has a macro adjust of 31 steps, designed to give a grind profile that is exceptional for espresso and good for brew methods requiring a finer grind. It is built with 40mm conical S1 burrs, which are designed to give a grind profile for espresso and brew methods requiring a finer grind (e.g. AeroPress, Hario V60, and most Automatic Brewers).

The main difference between this Sette grinder and its sister 270 is the micro grind settings that are featured on the 270 and not on the 30.

Elevate your coffee experience by purchasing your new Baratza Sette grinder today.

Product FAQ

Is the Baratza Sette 30 suitable for both espresso and filter coffee, or is it espresso‑only?

The Baratza Sette 30 is optimized for espresso and finer brewing methods (e.g., Aeropress, moka pot). It can grind for some medium‑fine filter brews, but it is not ideal for very coarse methods like French press or cold brew. If you mainly make filter coffee and only occasional espresso, a more brew‑oriented grinder may be a better fit.

Is the Sette 30 a stepless grinder, and how precise are the grind adjustments?

The Sette 30 is a stepped grinder with 30 macro settings. It does not offer true stepless or micro‑adjustment on its own. For most home users pulling standard espresso shots, the 30 steps provide enough precision, but very finicky dialing‑in may be easier on the Sette 270 series, which adds micro‑adjustments.

How often do I need to replace the burrs, and how long do they typically last?

Burr life depends on how much coffee you grind and how dark/oily the beans are. For typical home espresso use (1–3 drinks per day), the S1 burrs in the Sette 30 can often last 3–5 years before you notice significant dulling. Heavy daily use will shorten that to roughly 1–2 years. Replace the burrs when you see more fines, slower grinding, or difficulty dialing‑in at your usual settings.

What type of burrs does the Baratza Sette 30 come with, and can they be upgraded?

The Sette 30 comes with 40 mm conical steel S1 burrs designed primarily for espresso. They can be user‑replaced, and many owners upgrade to the S2 (Brew) or S3 (Multi‑Purpose) burrs for more versatility. Swapping burrs is straightforward with basic tools and does not require sending the grinder in.

How fast does the Sette 30 grind, and can it keep up with making multiple drinks in a row?

The Sette 30 is quite fast for a home grinder, typically grinding about 3.5–5.5 grams per second for espresso‑fine settings. It can comfortably handle back‑to‑back drinks for a household or small office scenario. It is not intended for continuous, high‑volume café use throughout the day.

Does the Baratza Sette 30 offer timed or manual dosing, and is it grind‑by‑weight?

The Sette 30 uses digital timed dosing with three programmable buttons (plus start/stop). You can also run it manually by holding the button. It is not a grind‑by‑weight grinder; if you want built‑in weight‑based dosing you would need a model like the Sette 270Wi.

Is the Sette 30 hands‑free, and does it come with a portafilter holder?

Yes. The Sette 30 includes an adjustable portafilter holder so you can grind hands‑free directly into your portafilter. It also comes with a grounds bin if you prefer to grind into a container for other brew methods.

Will the Baratza Sette 30 fit under standard kitchen cabinets in the U.S.?

The Sette 30 is roughly 15–16 inches tall (about 38–40 cm). Most U.S. kitchen cabinets are mounted around 17–18 inches above the counter, so it will fit under many standard cabinets. However, if your cabinets are lower than usual, or if you plan to fill the hopper in place, measuring your space first is recommended.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
