Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Most home setups are designed to hide in the background, but this is for the person who treats their morning shot as a deliberate act of engineering. The spring piston grouphead handles the pressure profile for you, allowing you to focus on the tactile feedback of the pull rather than fighting for mechanical consistency. It is a machine that requires you to know what you’re doing and rewards you with a texture that pump-driven alternatives rarely replicate. You are choosing the lever because you’ve realized the most efficient way to a shot is rarely the most satisfying one.

Product Features

Brass Piston & Heat-Retaining Group

The Microcasa a Leva uses a brass piston (housing two piston gaskets) rather than plastic, which resists heat-related degradation and helps maintain thermal stability in the grouphead. Brass construction preserves temperature through the shot and reduces long-term wear on the piston and gaskets.

Spring Piston Grouphead

A spring piston-operated grouphead (spring lever) gives you hands-on extraction control while the internal spring supplies consistent pump pressure from shot to shot. That means you can shape pre-infusion and flow manually without the variability of a purely mechanical lever — and the instructions (e.g., a second pull for doubles) are built into the workflow.

Single Boiler — Brass, Dry Steam

A single brass boiler (1.8 L capacity) delivers dry steam for tight microfoam — a key advantage for milk work on a single-boiler machine. The unit includes a water level sight glass, an internal pressurstat to regulate temperature, and a boiler pressure relief valve (opens around 1.5 bar) for safety and consistent steam performance.

Armor-Plated Heating Element

Equipped with an armor-plated heating element (rated at 800 watts), the Microcasa a Leva balances heat-up speed with durability. Elektra also adjusted the control to keep steam pressure rotating below the green zone (2017 change) to reduce grouphead overheating during routine use.

Precision Monitoring & Safety

A dedicated pressure gauge reports steam-boiler pressure (standard range ~0.8–1.1 bar), while the built-in safety thermostat and pressurstat manage temperature and protect the machine. Those controls make it easier to diagnose temperature or pressure issues and maintain consistent extractions over time.

Handcrafted Finish & Stable Footprint

Each unit is handcrafted and available in copper & brass, chrome, or chrome & brass, complete with a polished chrome eagle on the dome for a distinctive café-grade look. The machine’s compact footprint (approx. 19.5" tall, 10.5" wide, ~23 lb) and large ~10" round base keep the chassis steady during lever pulls while fitting comfortably on most home or small-brew countertops.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Hobbyists who want manual control — The spring piston grouphead handles the pressure profile for you, allowing you to focus on the tactile feedback of the pull rather than fighting for mechanical consistency
  • Enthusiasts who treat espresso as a craft — The polished copper and brass exterior is not just aesthetic — it improves heat retention and temperature stability, so your effort is reflected in the cup
  • Home users upgrading from entry-level espresso — If you have mastered the basics on a pump machine and want to feel exactly what is happening inside the group head, this is the next step

It's Right For You If:

  • You pull 2–6 shots a day and want a machine that rewards technique rather than automating it away.
  • You are pairing this with a capable burr grinder and a scale — because without consistent dosing, the spring piston will amplify your inconsistencies, not hide them.
  • You want a compact machine with a 1.8L boiler and a 120V outlet, and you appreciate that the copper-brass construction doubles as a kitchen centerpiece.

Things to Consider:

  • Spring piston levers have a gentler learning curve than direct levers — the spring handles the pressure curve for you — but you still need to manage grind, dose, and temperature, and the machine will punish sloppy puck prep.
  • The group head is prone to overheating during consecutive pulls, so this is suited for sequential individual preparation rather than back-to-back service.
  • The 49mm portafilter is non-standard, so most commercial accessories and precision baskets will not fit.

Our Take:

The Elektra Micro Casa A Leva in copper and brass is the most beautiful lever machine you can buy — and unlike a lot of beautiful things, it actually performs. The spring piston takes some of the manual pressure management off your plate, but this is still a machine that expects you to know what you are doing, and rewards you with a texture that pump-driven alternatives rarely replicate.

Heritage Features

This Italian lever espresso machine features a 1.8 L boiler, a handy steam wand and a spring-piston operating system all on a large 10-inch diameter base. You can also measure your extraction with the easily viewable pressure gauge. It comes all adorned with a beautiful open-winged eagle on top.

Manual Espresso Maker

An espresso lever machine, or manual espresso maker, uses a hand-operated lever to brew espresso. In contrast to contemporary automated models, lever machines empower you to oversee the entire brewing procedure. The basic principle remains consistent: pressurize a small quantity of water through finely ground coffee beans to yield a potent and flavorful cup of espresso.

While there is a learning curve and regular maintenance required, the dual frothing cappuccino systems and large boiler capacity make it a great choice for entertaining or for use at home or in a small café. It has a small footprint so it can easily be set up on your kitchen counter.

Spring Piston Operated

With spring piston operated lever machines, you use a manual lever to oversee the extraction process. This simple and interactive method enables you to make precise modifications while brewing. By adjusting pressure, flow rate, and extraction duration, you can craft your ideal espresso shot.

Brass Piston for Durability

Unlike many other machines that utilize plastic pistons in the grouphead, the Elektra Microcasa Leva stands out with its brass piston housing two piston gaskets. Plastic pistons are prone to becoming brittle and cracking due to the high heat in the group head over time, while the brass piston in the Elektra serves as an excellent addition for preserving heat within the group head.

1.8L Brass Boiler

Even though brass is more expensive than aluminum or stainless steel, its superior performance significantly enhances the quality of espresso produced by the machine. The high thermal conductivity of brass leads to a noticeable improvement in the temperature consistency of espresso shots during brewing.

Boiler Gauge

The pressure gauge on espresso machines is vital for producing top-notch espresso. It shows the pressure used to extract the coffee, ensuring that water passes through the grounds in the portafilter at the right force. Keeping this pressure steady is key to making excellent espresso shots every time.

Water Level Sight Glass

The water level sight glass on the boiler is an essential feature that provides a visual indication of the water level inside the boiler. This is particularly useful when filling the boiler, as it helps to prevent overfilling and ensures that the water level is at the appropriate level for safe and efficient operation.

Safety in Mind

This home espresso machine come with a couple of hand safety features. It has a boiler pressure relief valve on top, in case too much pressure builds up. Elektra made sure to have the handles made of Bakelite to keep touches cool. It also comes with a built-in safety thermostat prevents meltdown if left without water.

Upgrade Base Available

You can also upgrade to include a wooden base to set the Micro Casa on which includes provide an accessory drawer fitted with a removable plastic knock box. Add the upgrade and save $50 today.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • These guidelines are safe for most home espresso machines
  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Does the Elektra Micro Casa a Leva use a pump, or is it a completely manual lever machine?

The Elektra Micro Casa a Leva is a true spring-lever espresso machine and does not use a pump. Brew pressure is generated mechanically by a spring-loaded lever that you pull down and release, rather than by a vibration or rotary pump.

Can the Elektra Micro Casa a Leva be direct-plumbed into my water line, or is it tank-only?

This model is tank-only. It has an internal boiler you fill manually and is not designed to be direct-plumbed to a water line. You’ll need to monitor the water level in the sight glass and refill the boiler as needed.

Does this machine have pre-infusion, and is it adjustable?

Yes. As a spring lever machine, the Elektra Micro Casa a Leva provides a form of natural pre-infusion when the lever is pulled down and the puck is gently saturated before full pressure builds. However, there is no electronic or programmable pre-infusion; it is controlled manually by how you operate the lever.

What kind of steam wand does it have, and is it cool-touch or no-burn?

The Elektra Micro Casa a Leva comes with a traditional metal steam wand that gets hot during use. It is not a cool-touch or no-burn wand, so you should use the attached knob and a cloth when positioning it after steaming.

Is the boiler made of brass or copper, and what is the exterior finish on the copper/brass version?

The Micro Casa a Leva uses a brass boiler with copper and brass external components. The ‘Copper/Brass’ version refers to the polished copper body panels and brass accents (such as the grouphead, base, and eagle topper), giving it a classic, decorative look while maintaining a durable metal boiler.

Does the Elektra Micro Casa a Leva have a pressurestat or PID for temperature control?

It uses a mechanical pressurestat to regulate boiler pressure and, indirectly, brewing temperature. There is no PID temperature controller on this model. Users typically rely on the boiler pressure gauge and surf the heat by timing their shots and occasionally purging steam or water to fine-tune temperature.

What kind of power does it require, and can I use it on a standard US household outlet?

Yes. The US version of the Elektra Micro Casa a Leva is typically rated around 800–1000 watts and is designed for standard 110–120V, 60 Hz outlets. It can be used on a normal household circuit, though it’s best not to run other heavy appliances on the same circuit while brewing.

Does it come with standard 58 mm portafilters and baskets, and are replacement parts easy to find in the US?

The Elektra Micro Casa a Leva uses its own proprietary lever-style portafilter that is close to, but not exactly, a standard 58 mm. Many aftermarket 58 mm accessories may not fit perfectly. However, Elektra-branded portafilters, baskets, gaskets, and other wear parts are widely available through US espresso parts suppliers.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
