Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

There comes a point where you stop looking for convenience and start looking for a more direct dialogue with your coffee. This machine is for the person who finds the hum of a vibration pump disruptive to the quiet focus of a morning ritual. The spring lever piston provides a declining pressure profile that rewards a precise grind, leaving the character of the shot to your hands rather than a circuit board. It is a tool for those who prefer the mechanical honesty of a brass boiler over the digital abstractions of a modern kitchen appliance.

Product Features

Brass Piston Assembly

The grouphead uses a brass piston that houses two piston gaskets instead of a plastic piston, so the assembly holds heat better and avoids the brittleness issues that can affect plastic components. That brass construction helps maintain stable grouphead temperature and long-term durability under regular lever use.

Spring Lever Piston

A spring piston-operated grouphead delivers the pull: you pull down against the spring and release while the piston pushes water through the puck. The internal spring yields repeatable pump pressure across pulls, giving a lever-style workflow with consistent extraction control shot-to-shot.

Single Brass Boiler — Dry Steam

A 1.8 L brass boiler provides exceptionally dry steam ideal for micro-foam work, giving tighter, drier steam than many quieter single-boiler machines. The boiler design paired with the steam wand supports milk texturing for specialty drinks at home or in a small shop.

Armor-Plated 800W Element

An armor-plated heating element rated at 800 watts powers the boiler and grouphead. Elektra also reprogrammed the steam pressure behavior (2017) so the steam pressure rotates below the green zone to reduce grouphead overheating and help avoid burning the puck during extraction.

Pressure Control & Safety

Visible safety and control features include a pressure gauge that reads boiler pressure (typical 0.8–1.1 bar), an internal pressurstat to regulate temperature, a boiler pressure relief valve that opens at ≈1.5 bar, and a built-in safety thermostat to protect against running dry. These systems give you clear feedback and layered protection during routine operation.

Handcrafted Finish & Stability

Each Microcasa a Leva is handcrafted and offered in three plated finishes (copper & brass Art.S1, all chrome Art.S1c, or chrome & brass Art.S1CO) with a hand-polished chrome eagle on the dome. A large, ~10” round base keeps the machine steady when operating the lever and makes the unit a distinctive centerpiece on the counter.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Hobbyists who want manual control — The spring lever piston provides a declining pressure profile that rewards a precise grind, leaving the character of the shot to your hands rather than a circuit board
  • Enthusiasts who treat espresso as a craft — The heavy brass boiler and grouphead provide excellent thermal stability and consistent temperature retention, so your effort is reflected in the cup
  • Home users upgrading from entry-level espresso — If you have mastered the basics on a pump machine and want to feel exactly what is happening inside the group head, this is the next step

It's Right For You If:

  • You pull 2–6 shots a day and want a machine that rewards technique rather than automating it away.
  • You are pairing this with a capable burr grinder and a scale — because without consistent dosing, the spring piston will amplify your inconsistencies, not hide them.
  • You want a compact machine with a commercial-style steam wand and a 120V outlet, and you appreciate that the chrome-brass construction doubles as a kitchen centerpiece.

Things to Consider:

  • Spring piston levers have a gentler learning curve than direct levers — the spring handles the pressure curve for you — but you still need to manage grind, dose, and temperature, and the machine will punish sloppy puck prep.
  • The group head is prone to overheating during consecutive pulls, limiting you to sequential individual preparation rather than back-to-back service.
  • The 49mm portafilter is non-standard, so most commercial accessories and precision baskets will not fit.

Our Take:

The Elektra Micro Casa A Leva in chrome and brass is the lever machine for people who want the best of both worlds — the brass boiler for thermal stability and the chrome for easy maintenance, wrapped in a package that looks like it belongs in a museum. The spring piston gives you a declining pressure profile that no pump can match, but it still expects you to show up and do the work.

Heritage Features

This Italian lever espresso machine features a 1.8 L boiler, a handy steam wand and a spring-piston operating system all on a large 10-inch diameter base. You can also measure your extraction with the easily viewable pressure gauge. It comes all adorned with a beautiful open-winged eagle on top.

Manual Espresso Maker

An espresso lever machine, or manual espresso maker, uses a hand-operated lever to brew espresso. In contrast to contemporary automated models, lever machines empower you to oversee the entire brewing procedure. The basic principle remains consistent: pressurize a small quantity of water through finely ground coffee beans to yield a potent and flavorful cup of espresso.

While there is a learning curve and regular maintenance required, the dual frothing cappuccino systems and large boiler capacity make it a great choice for entertaining or for use at home or in a small café. It has a small footprint so it can easily be set up on your kitchen counter.

Spring Piston Operated

With spring-piston operated lever machines, you use a manual lever to oversee the extraction process. This simple and interactive method enables you to make precise modifications while brewing. By adjusting pressure, flow rate, and extraction duration, you can craft your ideal espresso shot.

Brass Piston for Durability

Unlike many other machines that utilize plastic pistons in the grouphead, the Elektra Microcasa Leva stands out with its brass piston housing two piston gaskets. Plastic pistons are prone to becoming brittle and cracking due to the high heat in the group head over time, while the brass piston in the Elektra serves as an excellent addition for preserving heat within the group head.

1.8L Brass Boiler

Even though brass is more expensive than aluminum or stainless steel, its superior performance significantly enhances the quality of espresso produced by the machine. The high thermal conductivity of brass leads to a noticeable improvement in the temperature consistency of espresso shots during brewing.

Boiler Gauge

The pressure gauge on espresso machines is vital for producing top-notch espresso. It shows the pressure used to extract the coffee, ensuring that water passes through the grounds in the portafilter at the right force. Keeping this pressure steady is key to making excellent espresso shots every time.

Water Level Sight Glass

The water level sight glass on the boiler is an essential feature that provides a visual indication of the water level inside the boiler. This is particularly useful when filling the boiler, as it helps to prevent overfilling and ensures that the water level is at the appropriate level for safe and efficient operation.

Safety in Mind

This home espresso machine comes with a couple of hand safety features. It has a boiler pressure relief valve on top, in case too much pressure builds up. Elektra made sure to have the handles made of Bakelite to keep touches cool. It also comes with a built-in safety thermostat that prevents meltdown if left without water.

Upgrade Base Available

You can also upgrade to include a wooden base to set the Micro Casa on which includes provide an accessory drawer fitted with a removable plastic knock box. Add the upgrade and save $50 today.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • These guidelines are safe for most home espresso machines
  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Is the Elektra Micro Casa a Leva a manual lever-only espresso machine or does it have any pump assistance (vibration or rotary)?

The Elektra Micro Casa a Leva is a traditional, fully manual lever espresso machine and does not use an electric pump (no vibration or rotary pump). Pressure is generated by the lever and the internal spring mechanism, not by a pump.

Does this machine have true pre-infusion, and can I control the pre-infusion time?

Yes. As a lever machine, it offers natural pre-infusion: when you raise the lever, water gently saturates the coffee puck under low pressure before full extraction. The pre-infusion time is manually controlled by how long you keep the lever raised before releasing it.

Is the Elektra Micro Casa a Leva a direct-plumb machine or does it use a water reservoir?

The Micro Casa a Leva uses an internal boiler that you fill manually and it is not designed for direct plumbing. You pour water directly into the boiler via the fill opening and must monitor the water level using the sight glass.

What kind of power does it require and can I use it on a standard US household outlet?

The US version typically operates at 110–120V and draws around 800–1000 watts (exact wattage may vary by production run). It is designed to work on a standard 15-amp US household outlet without any special electrical requirements.

Is the steam wand no-burn or cool-touch, and does it come with a hot water tap?

The steam wand on the Elektra Micro Casa a Leva is a traditional metal wand and is not marketed as no-burn or cool-touch. It becomes very hot during use and should be handled only by the knob and insulated parts. Many versions do not include a separate hot water tap; hot water is typically drawn carefully from the steam wand if needed.

How large is the boiler and how many drinks can I make in a row before needing to refill or wait for recovery?

The boiler is relatively small (around 1.0–1.8 liters depending on model revision), which is ideal for home use and fast heat-up, but not for high-volume output. It can comfortably pull a few back-to-back shots and steam milk for several drinks, but for extended entertaining you may need to pause to let the boiler recover and occasionally refill when the sight glass shows a low water level.

What type and size of portafilter does it use, and are standard baskets or tampers compatible?

The Micro Casa a Leva uses a proprietary Elektra lever-style portafilter, but it is typically sized close to a standard 58 mm basket. Most 58 mm tampers work, though a precisely fitted tamper is recommended. Baskets and accessories must be compatible with Elektra’s lever group; not all commercial E61 parts will fit.

How long does it take to heat up from cold, and is it safe to leave it on for extended periods?

From a cold start, it usually takes about 15–25 minutes to fully heat-soak the boiler and group for stable espresso temperatures. While the machine can be left on for longer periods, it is a brass-and-chrome lever with an exposed boiler, so it gets quite hot. For safety and energy reasons, it is generally recommended to turn it off when not in use and never leave it unattended for long stretches.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
