Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Most machines with this much copper and brass are bought as centerpieces rather than workhorses. You’ve likely spent enough time with entry-level gear to realize that a standard 58mm group head is the dividing line between a decorative hobby and a serious extraction. It is a choice for the home barista who is finished experimenting with plastic and ready to settle into a predictable, daily craft. This is the pivot from simply making coffee to managing a machine.

Product Features

Precision Vibration Pump

A precision-engineered vibration pump delivers consistent pressure for steady extraction—important when you're dialing in grind, dose and tamp at home. That repeatable pressure helps shots stay even from pull to pull.

Heat-Exchange (HX) System

Built around a Heat exchanger (HX) design that keeps brew temperature stable so you can pull flavorful shots without long waits between steaming and extraction. The HX approach gives home baristas single-machine flexibility for both espresso and milk work.

58mm Group Head

The large 58mm group head provides cafe-style extraction and is sized for 58mm portafilters and competition baskets. That stability translates to better temperature mass and more predictable shot behavior when refining your recipes.

Brass Boiler For Dry Steam

A durable brass boiler produces very dry steam ideal for building microfoam and texture for lattes and cappuccinos. Dry steam gives you more control when steaming milk for morning rituals or weekend practice.

Three-Way Solenoid Valve

The built-in three-way solenoid valve relieves grouphead pressure after extraction to prevent the ‘espresso explosion’ when removing the portafilter. That makes cleanups quicker and extraction safer for the home setup.

Top-Loading Reservoir & Sight Glass

A top-loading 2.5 L water basin with a visible water level sight glass and a manual boiler refill switch lets you top off quickly and monitor fill levels. Combined with the 2 L boiler capacity, it keeps you brewing multiple beverages without constant refills.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Experienced home baristas who value the craft of manual extraction — No PID and no automation means you manage every variable, which rewards technique with a uniquely hands-on result
  • Enthusiasts who appreciate artisanal Italian design — The copper and brass construction is as much a statement piece as it is a functional machine
  • Hobbyists building a permanent, ritual-focused setup — This machine is designed for the barista who treats espresso as a daily practice, not a caffeine delivery system

It's Right For You If:

  • You have already mastered temperature surfing on a single-boiler and want the tactile feedback of a manual HX.
  • Your daily drink count is 1–3 and you enjoy the process of managing cooling flushes and shot timing.
  • You are pairing this with a quality burr grinder and a scale, and you value the ritual as much as the result.

Things to Consider:

  • No PID and no shot timer means temperature management and extraction timing are entirely on you — expect a meaningful learning curve.
  • Struggles with back-to-back drinks beyond 3–4 servings; this is a solo ritual machine, not an entertainer.
  • The vibration pump and full manual operation mean this machine demands your attention during every extraction.

Our Take:

The Elektra Micro Casa in copper and brass is the espresso machine as objet dart — gorgeous to look at and genuinely capable once you learn its rhythms. If you are the kind of person who enjoys the process of managing a manual machine and wants a centerpiece that pulls real shots, this is a beautiful commitment to the craft.

Boiler Gauge

The pressure gauge on espresso machines is vital for producing top-notch espresso. It shows the pressure used to extract the coffee, ensuring that water passes through the grounds in the portafilter at the right force. Keeping this pressure steady is key to making excellent espresso shots every time.

Water Level Sight Glass

The water level sight glass on the boiler is an essential feature that provides a visual indication of the water level inside the boiler. This is particularly useful when filling the boiler, as it helps to prevent overfilling and ensures that the water level is at the appropriate level for safe and efficient operation.

Brass Boiler

Even though brass is more expensive than aluminum or stainless steel, its superior performance significantly enhances the quality of espresso produced by the machine. The high thermal conductivity of brass leads to a noticeable improvement in the temperature consistency of espresso shots during brewing.

Heat Exchanger 2.5 Liter Boiler

This 2.5-liter commercial espresso machine with a heat exchange boiler is a high-powered and efficient coffee-making tool specifically designed for professional use in cafes, restaurants, and other commercial environments. Here are the key features:

  • Boiler Capacity: The 2.5-liter boiler offers plenty of space for making multiple espresso shots and steaming milk at the same time. Heat exchange machines utilize a single boiler to handle both brewing and steaming tasks.
  • Heat Exchange: In contrast to dual boiler machines that have separate boilers for brewing and steaming, heat exchange machines employ a single boiler with a heat exchange tube. This tube allows hot water from the boiler to heat the brewing water as it flows through, ensuring consistent brewing temperature.
  • Simultaneous Brewing and Steaming: Thanks to the heat exchange system, baristas can brew espresso shots while simultaneously frothing milk for lattes or cappuccinos. This simultaneous operation is essential during peak hours in a commercial setting.

Safety in Mind

This home espresso machine come with a couple of hand safety features. It has a boiler pressure relief valve on top, in case too much pressure builds up. Elektra made sure to have the handles made of Bakelite to keep touches cool. It also comes with a built-in safety thermostat prevents meltdown if left without water.

From Treviso to Your Cup: Legacy Italian Brand

Known for their exquisite beauty and precise craftsmanship, Elektra, the esteemed Italian producer of espresso machines, is celebrated for its attention to detail. Since 1947 they have been producing machines that are not only practical but also serve as masterpieces of art. Handcrafted with care, each Elektra espresso machine is painstakingly put together by expert artisans.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • These guidelines are safe for most home espresso machines
  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Does the Elektra Micro Casa Semiautomatica use a rotary pump or a vibration pump?

The Elektra Micro Casa Semiautomatica uses a vibration pump, not a rotary pump. It is a reservoir‑fed machine and does not require direct plumbing.

Can the Elektra Micro Casa Semiautomatica be direct‑plumbed to a water line?

No. This model is a pour‑over machine with an internal water reservoir and is not designed for direct plumbing. It must be filled manually.

Does this machine have automatic pre‑infusion or any kind of pre‑infusion feature?

The machine does not have programmable or electronic pre‑infusion. Any pre‑infusion effect comes from the design of the heat‑exchanger and group, but it is not user‑adjustable or software‑controlled.

Is the steam wand on the Elektra Micro Casa Semiautomatica a cool‑touch or no‑burn style wand?

No. The steam wand is not a cool‑touch or no‑burn design. It gets hot during use, so you should always use the rubber grip or a towel and avoid direct contact with the metal after steaming.

What kind of boiler and heating system does it use, and is it suitable for making multiple milk drinks in a row?

The Micro Casa Semiautomatica uses a single copper heat‑exchanger boiler with a pressurestat to control steam pressure. It has strong steam power and can comfortably handle a few milk drinks in a row for home use, but it is not intended for high‑volume commercial service.

Is the Elektra Micro Casa Semiautomatica 110–120V compatible for use in the United States, and what outlet does it require?

Yes. The US version runs on standard 110–120V power and typically draws about 800–1000W (check the specific model year). It plugs into a standard grounded 15‑amp household outlet.

How long is the warm‑up time before it’s ready to pull shots and steam milk?

From a cold start, the boiler usually reaches operating pressure in about 10–15 minutes. For optimal grouphead temperature stability and best shot quality, allow roughly 20–30 minutes of warm‑up time before pulling your first espresso.

What size portafilter and baskets does it use, and are they standard so I can buy aftermarket baskets or tampers?

The Elektra Micro Casa Semiautomatica uses a 58 mm portafilter. This is a common commercial size, so most 58 mm tampers, baskets, and other aftermarket accessories are compatible, though Elektra’s portafilter shape and spouts are proprietary.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
