Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Running a high-volume bar is less about the romance of the bean and more about the reality of the queue. This Fiamma Caravel 3 Group Volumetric is built for the operator who knows that the third hour of a Saturday rush is where reputation is either solidified or lost. The three-group capacity ensures your baristas aren't waiting on the hardware while customers wait on their drinks. It’s the kind of stability that allows you to manage the floor instead of monitoring the boiler.

Product Features

Volumetric Dosing

The 'Volumetric' designation in the product name means the machine uses preset shot volumes for each group. Programmable volumetric dosing delivers repeatable shots across different operators and shifts, improving consistency under high throughput.

Three-Group Capacity

The model name includes '3 Group', indicating three independent groupheads for simultaneous extractions. That setup lets a busy café run multiple shots at once to keep up with peak service periods and reduce queue times.

Fiamma Caravel Line

This is the Fiamma Caravel model — the product name (Fiamma Caravel 3 Group Volumetric) identifies manufacturer and series. That makes it easy for operators to reference spec sheets and parts specific to the Caravel lineup.

Dual Manometers

Dedicated brew and steam pressure gauges let operators monitor both circuits independently in real time. The brew manometer shows resistance at the group during extraction; the steam gauge tracks boiler pressure. That dual visibility catches pressure drift early and keeps service on spec through a full shift.

Consistent Output

Combining three groups with volumetric dosing (both called out in the product name) focuses the machine on reliable, repeatable output across busy service. That combination reduces shot variability when multiple baristas are operating the machine.

Handcrafted in Portugal Since 1977

Fiamma has built espresso machines by hand in Portugal since 1977. The Caravel's chassis and internal components reflect that production standard — solid construction meant to hold up through years of continuous commercial service without requiring frequent intervention. Parts ordered through Coffeeionado.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Independent cafés and coffee bars — Three-group volumetric capacity with a 12L copper boiler handles 250–400 shots daily with consistent automated dosing
  • Hospitality venues adding commercial coffee service — E61 group heads and LCD display provide familiar, proven technology with modern feedback for rotating staff
  • Operators who value Portuguese craftsmanship — Fiamma's Caravel line delivers commercial Italian-spec performance built in Portugal at a competitive price point

Right For You If:

  • Your daily shot count is 200–400 and you want three groups with volumetric dosing to keep your barista team consistent during peak service.
  • You prefer E61 group heads — the most widely recognized and serviced commercial group architecture, with broad parts and technician availability.
  • You have direct plumbing and hardwired 220V power — standard commercial infrastructure for a 3-group installation.

Things to Consider:

  • The 12L copper boiler is capable for 250–400 shots daily but may show recovery limits if you consistently push all three groups at the upper end of that range during sustained rushes.
  • Copper boiler construction requires attentive water chemistry management — invest in proper filtration from day one to prevent mineral buildup and extend boiler life.
  • LCD display provides useful feedback, though it doesn't offer the recipe management or remote monitoring of touchscreen systems — keep this in mind if those features matter for your workflow.

Our Take:

The Caravel is Fiamma's straightforward commercial offering — E61 groups, volumetric dosing, and a 12L copper boiler in a package that does the basics well without overcomplicating things. If your café runs 250–400 shots daily and you want a machine that your baristas can learn quickly and count on for years, the Caravel is an honest, practical choice.

With programmable doses, you can set specific measurements for each shot of espresso, ensuring consistency and efficiency in the brewing process. This feature not only helps save time but also maintains the quality and flavor of the final product. Meanwhile, they can also focus on other tasks such as taking money, steaming milk, or other work tasks.

Volumetric Controls

Volumetric espresso machines with automated features offer a great solution for coffee shops and home users alike. From easy-to-use programmable features, to increased consistency in every cup of espresso, these machines make brewing the perfect cup easier than ever before. When using espresso machines with volumetric pumps, you benefit from their precision. These pumps guarantee accurate water-to-coffee ratios, a key factor in making great espresso.

Caravel Espresso Machine

Dual Manometers

You'll find dual manometers on espresso machines for monitoring brew and steam pressure. The brew pressure gauge checks the resistance from the coffee grounds in the filter basket when the pump is running to ensure optimal extraction. Meanwhile, the steam pressure gauge on heat exchange or dual boiler machines shows the boiler's steam pressure for safety, usually rated at 2.0 bar for structural integrity.

Thermostability

The Caravel units are equipped with thermal stability to the coffee groups which ensure a constant temperature and pre-infusion of the coffee grounds which allows for consistent, balanced shots of coffee.

Large 17L Copper Boiler

Copper boilers in espresso machines offer exceptional heat conductivity, ensuring rapid heating and faster recovery times for a quicker startup. Maintaining optimal brewing temperatures is essential for consistently good espresso, and copper's ability to uphold steady temperatures contributes to a consistent brew quality. Additionally, copper's natural antimicrobial properties make it a hygienic choice for espresso machines by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms.

Heat Exchange Espresso Machine

The heat exchange espresso machine is designed to provide a consistent and efficient brewing experience. By utilizing a heat exchange system, the machine is able to simultaneously heat water for brewing and produce steam for frothing milk. This ensures that the temperature of the water remains stable throughout the brewing process, resulting in a flavorful and well-extracted shot of espresso.

The heat exchange system also allows for quick and continuous steaming, making it ideal for busy coffee shops or home baristas looking to create lattes and cappuccinos with ease. With its ability to maintain precise temperature control and deliver powerful steam, the heat exchange espresso machine is a valuable tool for producing high-quality coffee beverages.

Programmable Doses

Set single, double, long, and long double espresso doses to perfectly repeat your favorite recipes. At the touch of a button you can extract your programmed shot. Let your baristas concentrate on other tasks while the espresso maker automatically pulls your shots.

Fiamma Caravel CV

Tall Cup Clearance

The Caravel CV machine is designed to accommodate brewing directly into to-go cups, making it perfect for busy coffee shops and cafes. Additionally, the machine features a raised grate for glasses or smaller cups. This combination of convenience and sophistication makes the espresso machine a versatile and practical choice for any establishment looking to serve high-quality coffee beverages.

E61 Group Head

The E61 group head is renowned for its exceptional temperature stability, and this is further enhanced by the 8 pounds of quality brass used in its construction. This substantial amount of brass ensures that heat is evenly distributed throughout the group head, resulting in precise and consistent brewing temperatures.

Cool Touch Steam Wands

With these revolutionary features, you can froth and steam milk without any concerns about getting burned. The cool touch technology ensures that the wand remains at a safe temperature, allowing you to focus on creating the perfect espresso drinks without any worries. Say goodbye to accidental burns and hello to a more enjoyable coffee-making process with our state-of-the-art espresso machine.

Rotary Pump for Quieter Operations

Rotary pump espresso machines offer many advantages, especially for home usage. Its low noise level is a key benefit, ensuring a quieter espresso experience. Rotary pumps have a longer lifespan of approximately 15 years, making them a reliable option for long-term use and reducing the need for frequent replacements. Additionally, they provide more consistent pressure and achieve quick pressure buildup compared to vibratory pump.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Does the Fiamma Caravel 3 Group Volumetric have rotary pumps or vibratory pumps?

The Fiamma Caravel 3 Group Volumetric is equipped with a commercial-grade rotary pump designed for stable pressure, quieter operation, and consistent extraction under heavy use.

Is the Caravel 3 Group Volumetric a direct-plumbed machine, or can it use a water tank?

The Caravel 3 Group Volumetric is a direct‑plumbed espresso machine and must be connected to a mains water line and drain. It does not use an internal water reservoir.

Does this machine offer programmable volumetric dosing for each group head?

Yes. Each group head has programmable volumetric dosing, allowing you to set and store multiple shot volumes for consistent single and double espressos at the touch of a button.

Does the Caravel 3 Group Volumetric include pre-infusion, and is it adjustable?

The machine includes automatic pre-infusion to gently saturate the coffee puck before full pressure is applied. On most configurations, pre-infusion timing is electronically controlled at the factory; adjustability may depend on the specific model and firmware supplied by the US distributor.

Are the steam wands cool-touch or no-burn on this model?

The Caravel 3 Group Volumetric ships with insulated, cool-touch steam wands designed to stay significantly cooler to the touch and reduce milk buildup.

What kind of power supply does the Fiamma Caravel 3 Group Volumetric require in the US?

The 3-group Caravel is a high-wattage commercial machine and generally requires a hard-wired 220–240V, 60 Hz, single-phase electrical connection on a dedicated circuit. Check the nameplate and local code requirements, and have installation done by a licensed electrician.

Does the machine have separate boilers for brewing and steaming (multi-boiler), or a single heat-exchange boiler?

The Caravel line is typically built as a heat-exchange (HX) system with one large boiler serving all three groups and the steam wands, with individual heat exchangers for brewing. This allows simultaneous brewing and steaming with strong steam power while maintaining brew temperature stability.

Is a water filtration or softening system required to keep the warranty valid?

Most US distributors require proper water treatment—such as filtration and scale control or softening—for warranty coverage. Because scale and poor water quality can damage the boiler and internal components, installing an appropriate water filter and softener is strongly recommended and often mandatory.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
