Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Finding a machine that fits a restricted footprint without sacrificing professional thermal stability is usually a lesson in compromise. The Gaggia Nera Compact avoids that by packing a full-sized copper boiler into a frame that doesn't demand its own zip code. It handles a sudden rush with the same steady temperature recovery as its larger siblings, ensuring the last drink in a queue is as consistent as the first. This is the equipment you install when your volume has finally outpaced your current gear’s ability to keep up.

Product Features

Copper Boiler

A copper boiler provides substantial thermal mass and fast recovery to keep steam and brew systems ready under continuous use. The boiler plus the heat exchangers supports sustained output across two groups.

Independent Heat Exchangers

Two independent heat exchangers let each group maintain stable brew temperatures even while steaming, so you get consistent extraction during peak service. That separation reduces temperature swing when multiple drinks are pulled at once.

One-Button Backflush

Backflushes with a single push button for fast, repeatable group cleaning between shifts, reducing downtime and keeping extraction consistent. Simplified cleaning makes compliance and daily maintenance quicker for staff.

Dual Rotational Steam Wands

Two rotational steam outlets (two steam wands) with a quarter turn steam knob let baristas steam multiple milk pitchers quickly and ergonomically. The configuration speeds service and keeps queues moving during rush periods.

Illuminated Work Area

Backlit buttons and an illuminated work area improve visibility for dosing, tamping, and grab-and-go service in dim environments. Clear controls reduce errors and help new staff operate reliably under pressure.

Direct Water Connection (3/8″)

Designed for commercial plumbing, this unit comes with a 3/8″ water connection so it can be hard-plumbed into your supply to avoid manual refills. Direct connection supports uninterrupted service during high-volume shifts.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • New café operators — The 110–120V power requirement means this machine runs on standard US electrical circuits, eliminating the need for expensive 220V installation in many existing spaces
  • Small cafés and specialty food service — A compact two-group footprint with an 8L copper boiler delivers professional thermal stability in a frame designed for tight counters and busy back bars
  • Coffee programs with moderate volume — 50–150 shots per shift with programmable volumetric dosing provides consistent output for shops that aren't pushing extreme volume but need two-group workflow

Right For You If:

  • You need two-group commercial performance but your space only has standard 110–120V electrical circuits available — this machine eliminates the 220V installation barrier.
  • You are pulling 50–150 shots per shift and want programmable volumetric dosing for consistency across a small team.
  • You have a direct water line with a pressure-reducing valve and filtration on the incoming 3/8 inch line, or you can use the reservoir option for simpler setup.

Things to Consider:

  • The 110–120V power is the key differentiator, but it also means slower recovery during sustained extreme peaks compared to 220V commercial machines — if your rush consistently pushes both groups flat-out, the thermal headroom is narrower.
  • The compact frame holds an 8L copper boiler, which is smaller than full-sized two-groups — verify that the steam capacity meets your milk-drink volume during peak service, especially if lattes and cappuccinos dominate your menu.
  • Direct plumbing requires a pressure-reducing valve and filtration on the incoming line — factor these into your installation cost and plan, as they're essential for warranty compliance.

Our Take:

The Nera Compact is the two-group machine for shops that can't install 220V power — it runs on standard US circuits while still delivering the copper boiler thermal stability and volumetric dosing that professional service demands. If your space has 110V and your volume sits in the moderate range, this is the machine that opens the door to legitimate two-group espresso without an electrical overhaul.

Paid Shipping ($449+ Value)

At Coffeeionado, we understand the frustration of hidden costs when making online purchases. This is why we're thrilled to announce that we now cover all shipping, freight, and handling charges for our premium coffee equipment within the continental USA. Gone are the days of considering additional fees as you add items to your cart.

Automatic Espresso Machine

Automatic espresso machines have revolutionized the way baristas operate in coffee shops, allowing them to focus on other tasks while still producing high-quality espressos. With programmable doses, baristas can set specific measurements for each shot of espresso, ensuring consistency and efficiency in the brewing process. This feature not only helps save time but also maintains the quality and flavor of the final product. Meanwhile, they can also focus on other tasks such as taking money, steaming milk, or other work tasks.

Stainless Steel Construction

This Italian commercial espresso machine crafted from stainless steel is renowned for its impressive durability and resistance to rust, wear, and staining. This exceptional material is renowned for its outstanding durability and remarkable resistance to corrosion, wear, and stains, making it the perfect addition to any coffee shop or home kitchen. With its impressive strength and longevity, you can trust that this espresso machine is built to handle the rigors of daily use without compromising performance.

Programmable Doses

Set single, double, long and long double espresso doses to perfectly repeat your favorite recipes. At the touch of a button, you can extract your programmed shot. Let your baristas concentrate on other tasks while the espresso maker automatically pulls your shots.

8L Copper Boiler

Copper boilers in espresso machines offer exceptional heat conductivity, ensuring rapid heating and faster recovery times for a quicker startup. Maintaining optimal brewing temperatures is essential for consistently good espresso, and copper's ability to uphold steady temperatures contributes to a consistent brew quality. Additionally, copper's natural antimicrobial properties make it a hygienic choice for espresso machines by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms.

Heat Exchanger 8 Liter Boiler

The 8-liter commercial espresso machine with a heat exchange boiler is a high-powered and efficient coffee-making tool specifically designed for professional use in cafes, restaurants, and other commercial environments. Here are the key features:

  • Boiler Capacity: The 8-liter boiler offers plenty of space for making multiple espresso shots and steaming milk at the same time. Heat exchange machines utilize a single boiler to handle both brewing and steaming tasks.
  • Heat Exchange: In contrast to dual boiler machines that have separate boilers for brewing and steaming, heat exchange machines employ a single boiler with a heat exchange tube. This tube allows hot water from the boiler to heat the brewing water as it flows through, ensuring consistent brewing temperature.
  • Simultaneous Brewing and Steaming: Thanks to the heat exchange system, baristas can brew espresso shots while simultaneously frothing milk for lattes or cappuccinos. This simultaneous operation is essential during peak hours in a commercial setting.
  • Temperature Control: Heat exchange machines maintain steady water temperature for brewing purposes. The boiler remains at steaming temperature, while the heat exchange tube ensures that the brewing water is heated as needed.

Single Manometer (Dual Gauge Display)

This commercial espresso machine is equipped with a single manometer featuring a dual gauge display, allowing you to monitor both brew and steam pressure in one convenient dial. The brew pressure gauge helps you fine-tune extraction by showing the resistance created by the coffee puck during brewing, while the steam pressure reading ensures the boiler maintains optimal steam levels for frothing. This all-in-one gauge offers essential insight into your machine’s performance without taking up extra space on the control panel.

Quarter Turn Knobs

Simple quarter turns for comfortable on/off. And it doesn’t matter whether you prefer going left or right, it works both ways.

High Efficiency Boiler

Copper construction with 8 L capacity and an independent thermosiphon heat exchanger for each brew group.

Eco-Friendly Machine

The machine's primary material for the contact surface is tempered glass, comprising 95% of its composition. This material is frequently touched by end users and offers various benefits. Tempered glass is not only fully recyclable but also facilitates effortless cleaning and sanitization using standard cleaning and disinfecting products. It resists the adhesion of dirt and external substances, boasts exceptional durability and strength, requires minimal maintenance, and can withstand high temperatures effectively.

Hot Water Outlet

A hot water outlet is available for those who like their coffee a little longer or just prefer tea.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Is the Gaggia Nera 2 Group Compact equipped with a rotary pump or a vibratory pump?

The Gaggia Nera 2 Group Compact uses a commercial rotary pump, which provides stable pressure, quieter operation compared to vibratory pumps, and is designed for continuous use in a café or restaurant setting.

Does this machine support pre-infusion, and is the pre-infusion time adjustable?

Yes. The Gaggia Nera 2 Group Compact offers pre-infusion, gently soaking the coffee puck before full pressure extraction to promote a more even extraction and better flavor. On most configurations, pre-infusion is controlled electronically; the exact adjustability (timing and profile) may depend on the specific model/software version, so check your product specs or manual for details.

Are the steam wands cool-touch or no-burn, and how many steam wands does it have?

The Gaggia Nera 2 Group Compact typically comes with two commercial steam wands. They are designed to stay cooler to the touch compared to traditional wands and reduce the risk of burns while also minimizing milk sticking to the wand. You should still treat them as hot surfaces during and right after use for safety.

Is the Gaggia Nera 2 Group Compact a direct-plumbed machine, or can it be used with a water tank?

The Gaggia Nera 2 Group Compact is designed as a direct-plumbed commercial espresso machine. It connects directly to your water line and does not rely on an internal pour-over water tank. Proper installation by a qualified technician and adherence to local plumbing codes are recommended.

What are the power requirements and voltage for this machine in the US?

For US installations, the Gaggia Nera 2 Group Compact is typically configured for 220–240V, 50/60 Hz, and requires a dedicated circuit with appropriate amperage (often in the 20–30A range, depending on the exact model and boiler size). Always confirm the electrical specifications on the machine’s rating plate and consult an electrician to ensure proper wiring and a dedicated breaker.

What type and size of boiler does the Gaggia Nera 2 Group Compact use, and is it heat-exchanger or dual-boiler?

The Gaggia Nera 2 Group Compact usually features a single large copper or stainless-steel heat-exchanger boiler designed for commercial output. The HX design allows you to brew espresso and steam milk simultaneously using independent heat exchangers inside the main boiler, ensuring stable temperatures and strong steam power in a compact footprint.

Does the machine include programmable volumetric dosing for each group head?

Yes. The Gaggia Nera 2 Group Compact is a volumetric espresso machine with programmable dosing. Each group head typically offers multiple programmable buttons (e.g., single, double, and manual/continuous), enabling you to set consistent shot volumes for faster, repeatable workflow and reduced operator error.

Does the Gaggia Nera Nera 2 Group Compact require an external water filtration or softening system, and will using one affect the warranty?

A quality water filtration and softening system is strongly recommended and, in many cases, required to maintain warranty coverage. Scale and poor water quality can damage the boiler, valves, and internal piping. Most US distributors and service centers recommend installing a plumbed-in filtration/softening system matched to your local water hardness to protect both the machine and beverage quality.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
