Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Most enthusiasts eventually reach a point where a pump feels like a compromise between their hands and the espresso. The Esperto Edotto removes that barrier, replacing automated pressure with a manual lever that provides direct feedback through every inch of the pull. By watching the mounted group pressure gauge, you transition from guessing how the puck is behaving to actually managing the extraction in real time. This is the machine you buy when you’re ready to take full responsibility for the quality of the shot.

Product Features

Precision Filter Baskets

Includes three precision-machined, embossed filter baskets in 9 g, 16 g, and 20 g sizes for clear dosing options from single to competition-style shots. Those specific basket sizes make it easier to repeat doses and compare extraction results when dialing in.

Large 16-Cup Boiler

A 16-cup (38 oz) nickel-plated boiler provides extended brewing capacity so you can pull multiple shots or serve several drinks without frequent refills. The larger boiler supports longer sessions common in high-end home or small commercial use.

Competition Group Screens & Portafilter

Equipped with competition group screens and a bottomless portafilter so you can visually monitor extraction patterns and diagnose channeling on the fly. That visibility speeds up technique adjustments for more consistent shot development.

Dual Frothing Systems

Features both a polished steam wand and an automatic cappuccino attachment to suit different workflows—manual steaming for full control or the automatic attachment for repeatable milk texture. Swap between systems depending on volume and preferred workflow.

Mounted Group Pressure Gauge

A mounted group pressure gauge displays extraction pressure in real time, giving you actionable feedback during each lever pull. Use the readout to refine pressure profile and maintain consistency across shots.

Italian Competition Craftsmanship

Part of La Pavoni’s Esperto Competition Series and made in Italy, the Edotto carries handcrafted details like custom rosewood lever handles and a capped eagle boiler top. Those finishes reflect the machine’s competition-oriented build and appeal as an investment for serious operators.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Precision-obsessed home baristas — The mounted group pressure gauge lets you manage extraction in real time, transitioning from guessing how the puck is behaving to actually controlling it
  • Hobbyists who want manual control — The lever operation gives you direct, tactile pressure profiling that no pump-driven machine can replicate
  • Enthusiasts upgrading from entry-level espresso — If you have mastered the basics on a pump machine and want to feel exactly what is happening inside the group head, this is the logical next step

It's Right For You If:

  • You pull 2–6 shots a day and want a machine that rewards technique rather than automating it away.
  • You are pairing this with a capable burr grinder and a scale — because without consistent dosing, the lever will amplify your inconsistencies, not hide them.
  • You have counter space for a full-sized 16-cup lever machine with a premium chrome-copper finish and patience for 20–25 minute warm-up.

Things to Consider:

  • Lever machines demand a real learning curve — expect a week of mediocre shots before you start feeling the rhythm, and a few months before you are consistently pulling what you know the machine is capable of.
  • The group head overheats during consecutive pulls, limiting you to 2–3 back-to-back drinks before needing thermal recovery — plan your entertaining workflow accordingly.
  • The 51mm portafilter is non-standard, so most commercial accessories and precision baskets will not fit.

Our Take:

The Esperto Edotto is the La Pavoni for people who want their machine to look as serious as the coffee it makes — the chrome-copper finish is not just cosmetic, it houses the same brass internals and pressure gauge that make the Esperto line the choice for precision-focused home baristas. If you are ready to take full responsibility for every shot, this is the lever to commit to.

Competition Series

Expertly crafted by hand, the Esperto Abile is one of the finest home lever espresso machines you could own. Machined by hand precisely to the highest identical specifications guaranteeing you a work of art. These machines feature custom components and come with top-of-the-line filters for an elevated espresso experience.

Temperature Strip

The temperature strip on the group head of the espresso machine is a crucial tool for ensuring that you are pulling shots at the ideal temperature. This strip provides a clear indication of the current temperature, allowing you to make necessary adjustments to achieve the perfect extraction.

Mounted Group Pressure Gauge

The mounted group pressure gauge for pressure profiling is a valuable tool that allows baristas to closely monitor and adjust the pressure during the brewing process. This gauge provides real-time feedback on the pressure exerted on the coffee grounds, enabling baristas to fine-tune their technique for optimal extraction. Overall, this tool empowers you to take control over every aspect of the brewing process, resulting in a more precise and high-quality espresso experience.

Style and Heritage

Easily pull shots with the fine crafted topped with an eagle espresso machine. Esperto line features a large 16 cup output, 38 oz. nickel plated boiler, a mounted boiler pressure gauge and two frothing systems (mounted polished steam wand & cappuccino automatic attachment).

Competition Filters

The perforation of the competition filters features consistently precise 0.30 mm holes that are evenly distributed. The surface is enhanced through electropolishing, removing iron oxide and creating a smoother, shinier material. This method not only enhances the overall appearance but also improves the perforation quality compared to standard methods. Each filter undergoes individual testing and is labeled with the La Pavoni mark.

Eagle on Top

Decorate your bar with this classic eagle top espresso machine, it easily fits over the boiler knob to add a touch of class.

Custom Wooden Handles

This espresso machine comes with custom rosewood handles on the lever and portafilter along with wooden accents on the steam knob and boiler cap.

Manual Espresso Maker

An espresso lever machine, or manual espresso maker, uses a hand-operated lever to brew espresso. In contrast to contemporary automated models, lever machines empower you to oversee the entire brewing procedure. The basic principle remains consistent: pressurize a small quantity of water through finely ground coffee beans to yield a potent and flavorful cup of espresso.

While there is a learning curve and regular maintenance required, the dual frothing cappuccino systems and large boiler capacity make it a great choice for entertaining or for use at home or in a small café. It has a small footprint so it can easily be set up on your kitchen counter.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • These guidelines are safe for most home espresso machines
  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Is the La Pavoni Esperto Edotto (US version) a manual lever machine or does it use a pump (rotary or vibration)?

The Esperto Edotto is a fully manual lever espresso machine and does not use a rotary or vibration pump. Brew pressure is generated entirely by the user pulling the lever, which allows very fine control over pre-infusion and extraction but also requires some practice to master.

Does the Esperto Edotto have built-in pre-infusion, and can I control it?

Yes. As a lever machine, the Esperto Edotto naturally provides pre-infusion. When you raise the lever, boiler pressure gently wets the puck before you pull down to extract. You can control the length and intensity of pre-infusion by how long you keep the lever raised and by adjusting boiler pressure via the pressurestat.

Can this machine be directly plumbed into a water line, or is it tank-only?

The Esperto Edotto is a reservoir (tank)–fed machine and does not support direct plumbing to a water line. You manually fill the internal boiler with water. Because it’s a classic lever design with a built-in boiler, it’s intended to be filled and refilled rather than hard-plumbed.

What is the boiler capacity and how many shots can I realistically pull in a row?

The US-version Esperto Edotto has roughly a 38–40 oz (1.1–1.2 L) boiler. In practical use, this supports up to about 16 single espressos (the model is rated as a 16-cup machine), assuming you balance shot pulling with occasional steaming. Heavy back-to-back steaming or continuous use will draw down the boiler and may require cooldown and refilling time.

What power requirements does the US version have, and can I use it on a standard kitchen outlet?

The US version typically operates at 120 V, 60 Hz, and draws around 1000–1200 W (check the rating plate on your unit for exact specs). It is designed for a standard 15 A household kitchen circuit in the US. It should be plugged directly into a grounded wall outlet—not into an undersized extension cord or power strip.

Does the steam wand have a cool-touch or no-burn design, and is it powerful enough for microfoam?

The Esperto Edotto’s steam wand is a traditional metal wand and is not a fully insulated cool-touch or no-burn type; it will get hot during use and should be handled by the rubber grip or knob. The wand is fed directly from the boiler and is capable of producing strong steam suitable for fine microfoam once boiler pressure is at operating range.

What accessories are included with the Esperto Edotto (US version) out of the box?

The Esperto Edotto typically includes: the chrome-copper lever machine itself, single and double portafilters, multiple filter baskets (often including precision baskets), a bottomless portafilter, pressure gauge on the group for shot profiling, a metal tamper, measuring spoon, and a funnel or dosing tools. Exact contents can vary by retailer, so it’s best to confirm the included accessory list before purchase.

Is this machine suitable for beginners, or is it better for experienced home baristas?

Because it is a fully manual lever machine, the Esperto Edotto has a steeper learning curve than pump-driven, push-button espresso machines. It is best suited to enthusiasts who enjoy hands-on control, dialing in grind and dose carefully, and experimenting with lever profiles. Beginners can learn on it, but should expect some trial and error and invest in a good quality grinder.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
