Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

You’ve spent enough time with buttons and timers to realize that the most rewarding shots are the ones you actually feel through the handle. This Stradivari Design isn’t just about the visual curves; it’s about a tactile relationship with the extraction process that an automated pump simply cannot replicate. Managing a manual machine requires more from you, but the thermal stability of the brass, nickel-plated boiler ensures that your effort is actually reflected in the cup. It’s time to stop guessing what’s happening inside the group head and start controlling it.

Product Features

20 oz Boiler

The machine features a 20 oz. boiler capacity so you can pull multiple shots and steam without constant refills. That capacity suits a relaxed morning ritual or entertaining a few guests.

Chrome Body With Wood Accents

The Europiccola EPW-8 pairs its signature chrome body with wood handles on the lever, portafilter, and steam knob. The combination brings warmth to an otherwise all-metal machine and gives it a tactile presence on the counter that marks it as a deliberate, long-term piece of kitchen equipment.

8-Cup Output

Makes 8 — 2 oz. cups of espresso, letting you batch extractions for company or a longer service window. The stated 8-cup yield clarifies how much you can expect between refills.

Brass, Nickel-Plated Boiler

Solid brass nickel plated boilers with a triple chrome plated finish offer the material quality La Pavoni is known for. The construction and finish deliver the look and longevity expected from an Italian lever machine.

Recessed Power Controls

A recessed power switch and separate power button keep controls tucked away to prevent accidental activation. Small details like this make daily use cleaner and more deliberate.

US Voltage Compatible

Built for Volt 110 at 1000 watts, the US version is ready for standard North American outlets. The listed electrical spec removes the guesswork for home installation.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Hobbyists who want manual control — The lever operation gives you precise pressure profiling so you can fine-tune extraction for richer crema and fuller espresso flavor
  • Home users upgrading from entry-level espresso — If you have mastered the basics on a pump machine and want to feel exactly what is happening inside the group head, this is the next step
  • Enthusiasts who treat espresso as a craft — The polished chrome exterior with quality metal internals and wooden handle provide durability, stable heat retention, and a premium finish built for decades of daily use

It's Right For You If:

  • You pull 2–6 shots a day and want a machine that rewards technique rather than automating it away.
  • You are pairing this with a capable burr grinder and a scale — because without consistent dosing, the lever will amplify your inconsistencies, not hide them.
  • You want a compact 8-cup machine that fits a smaller kitchen counter and a 120V outlet.

Things to Consider:

  • Lever machines demand a real learning curve — expect a week of mediocre shots before you start feeling the rhythm, and a few months before you are consistently pulling what you know the machine is capable of.
  • The 8-cup boiler capacity means fewer shots between refills compared to the 16-cup models, so this is strictly a single-user or small household machine.
  • The 51mm portafilter is non-standard, so most commercial accessories and precision baskets will not fit.

Our Take:

The Europiccola Chrome with Wood is the La Pavoni for people who want the lever experience with a bit of warmth in the design — the wooden handle is not just aesthetic, it stays cooler to the touch and gives you better grip during the pull. If you are the kind of person who finds the morning ritual more satisfying when you have earned the shot, this is the lever that will be on your counter for decades.

James Bond Espresso Machine

In true classic fashion, the Europiccola is the James Bond espresso machine featured in the movies. It has inspired generations and continues to be a staple for home enthusiasts as the go-to for lever espresso machines.

Wooden Handles

Ease of Use

Using the La Pavoni Europiccola Lever Espresso Coffee Machine may seem daunting at first, but with a little practice, it becomes second nature. The manual pulling of shots takes some getting used to, but the reward is a delicious, rich espresso. You will need to experiment with the right roast and grind to get the perfect shot, but once you find it, you can consistently make great coffee.

Manual Espresso Maker

An espresso lever machine, or manual espresso maker, uses a hand-operated lever to brew espresso. In contrast to contemporary automated models, lever machines empower you to oversee the entire brewing procedure. The basic principle remains consistent: pressurize a small quantity of water through finely ground coffee beans to yield a potent and flavorful cup of espresso.

While there is a learning curve and regular maintenance required, the dual frothing cappuccino systems and large boiler capacity make it a great choice for entertaining or for use at home or in a small café. It has a small footprint so it can easily be set up on your kitchen counter.

Perfect Lever Espresso Machine for Your Kitchen

Easily pull shots and make one or two cups at a time with the La Pavoni lever espresso machine. It has a small footprint so it can easily be set up on your kitchen counter. The Europiccola features internal thermostats that continuously monitor pressure, solid brass boilers and stainless steel heating elements.

    Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

    Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

    Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

    What This Means

    • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
    • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
    • Improper water can damage internal components over time

    Machine-Specific Considerations

    • These guidelines are safe for most home espresso machines
    • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

    Product FAQ

Does the La Pavoni US Europiccola have a pump or is it fully manual?

The Europiccola is a fully manual lever espresso machine with no pump. Pressure is created entirely by your hand on the lever, giving you direct control over the extraction.

Does this model offer pre-infusion, and is it automatic or manual?

Yes, you can perform pre-infusion, but it is entirely manual. You start by gently raising and then partially lowering the lever to soak the coffee puck with low pressure before applying full pressure for extraction.

Is this the 120V US version, and can it be used with standard household outlets?

Yes. This is the US version designed for 120V, 60 Hz power and plugs into a standard household outlet. No step-up or step-down transformer is required when used in the United States.

What is the boiler capacity and how many shots can I pull in one session?

The Europiccola has approximately a 0.8 liter (27 oz) boiler. In typical use, this yields about 8 single espresso shots in one session, depending on how much steam you use and how long the machine is left on.

Is the machine reservoir-fed or can it be direct plumbed to a water line?

The Europiccola has an internal boiler that you fill manually and it is not designed to be direct plumbed. You must fill the boiler by hand, and you should never refill it while it is pressurized and hot.

Does it include a no-burn or cool-touch steam wand?

No. The standard steam wand on the Europiccola is a traditional metal wand that gets very hot during use. Users should always handle it by the knob and grip points only and allow it to cool before cleaning.

What size and type of portafilter does it use, and is it compatible with standard 51 mm baskets or tampers?

The Europiccola uses a proprietary La Pavoni portafilter that is commonly referred to as 51–52 mm. Most users purchase a 51 mm tamper, though some prefer 51.5 mm for a tighter fit. It is not compatible with commercial 58 mm baskets or tampers.

Are the wood handles and knobs real wood, and can they be replaced or upgraded later?

Yes. The wood accents (lever handle, portafilter handle, and knobs) are real wood specific to the US wood-trim model. They are removable and can be replaced with OEM or aftermarket wood kits if you want to change the look later.

    How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

    Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

    What's Included

    • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
    • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
    • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
    • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

    How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

    What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

    • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
    • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
    • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
    • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
    • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

    Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

    Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

    After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

    Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
