Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

There comes a point where you stop wanting the machine to do the work for you and start wanting to feel the resistance of the coffee itself. The Stradivari design serves that shift, replacing digital presets with a manual lever and wood handles that translate your physical pressure directly into the extraction. It is a deliberate choice for the barista who has moved past the novelty of buttons and into the pursuit of a specific, tactile profile. You stop timing the shot and start feeling it.

Product Features

Eight 2 oz. Servings

Makes 8 — 2 oz. cups of espresso, so the Stradivari can handle mornings with guests or a few consecutive shots for milk drinks. The 8-cup output pairs with the boiler size for practical home entertaining without long recovery waits.

20 oz. Boiler Capacity

20 oz. boiler capacity — sized for home use so you can pull multiple shots and steam milk without waiting for long recovery times. That capacity supports the machine’s ability to produce several drinks in a single session.

Solid Brass Boiler & Chrome Finish

Solid brass nickel plated boilers, triple chrome plated finish — durable construction and a classic, mirror-chrome aesthetic that suits a crafted home bar. The brass boiler offers the kind of build quality enthusiasts look for in a long-lived machine.

Manual Lever Operation

Part of La Pavoni's line of home lever espresso machines, the Stradivari uses manual lever operation for a hands-on extraction experience. That tactile control lets home baristas engage with the shot-pulling ritual and refine timing and pressure to taste.

US-Ready Power & Controls

Volt 110, 1000 watts with a recessed power switch — configured for US household outlets and designed for a tidy footprint on the counter. The recessed switch keeps the machine’s profile clean and protected during everyday use.

Wood Handles & Stradivari Design

Available with wood or black handles and knobs — the warm wood accents add tactile comfort and a refined look inspired by Antonio Stradivari's famous violin design. That design detail complements the Stradivari's heritage and gives it a distinctive presence on the home counter.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Hobbyists who want manual control — The lever operation replaces digital presets with a physical feedback loop between your hands and the extraction, and the wood handles signal a machine built for a lifetime of use
  • Home users upgrading from entry-level espresso — If you have mastered the basics on a pump machine and want to feel exactly what is happening inside the group head, this is the next step
  • Enthusiasts who treat espresso as a craft — You stop timing the shot and start feeling it, which is either a dealbreaker or the entire reason you are buying it

It's Right For You If:

  • You pull 2–6 shots a day and want a machine that rewards technique rather than automating it away.
  • You are pairing this with a capable burr grinder and a scale — because without consistent dosing, the lever will amplify your inconsistencies, not hide them.
  • You want a compact 8-cup machine that fits a smaller kitchen counter and a 120V outlet.

Things to Consider:

  • Lever machines demand a real learning curve — expect a week of mediocre shots before you start feeling the rhythm, and a few months before you are consistently pulling what you know the machine is capable of.
  • The 8-cup boiler capacity means fewer shots between refills compared to the 16-cup models, so this is strictly a single-user or small household machine.
  • The 51mm portafilter is non-standard, so most commercial accessories and precision baskets will not fit.

Our Take:

The Stradivari Europiccola with wood handles is the La Pavoni for people who want the lever experience in a compact, beautiful package — the wood trim is not decoration, it is a signal that this machine is built for decades of daily use, not a few years. If you are the kind of person who finds the morning ritual more satisfying when you have earned the shot, this is the lever that will be on your counter for life.

Ease of Use

Using the La Pavoni ESW-8 Europiccola Stradivari Lever Espresso Coffee Machine may seem daunting at first, but with a little practice, it becomes second nature. The manual pulling of shots takes some getting used to, but the reward is a delicious, rich espresso. You will need to experiment with the right roast and grind to get the perfect shot, but once you find it, you can consistently make great coffee.

Manual Espresso Maker

An espresso lever machine, or manual espresso maker, uses a hand-operated lever to brew espresso. In contrast to contemporary automated models, lever machines empower you to oversee the entire brewing procedure. The basic principle remains consistent: pressurize a small quantity of water through finely ground coffee beans to yield a potent and flavorful cup of espresso.

While there is a learning curve and regular maintenance required, the dual frothing cappuccino systems and large boiler capacity make it a great choice for entertaining or for use at home or in a small café. It has a small footprint so it can easily be set up on your kitchen counter.

Perfect Lever Espresso Machine for Your Kitchen

Easily pull shots and make one or two cups at a time with the La Pavoni lever espresso machine. It has a small footprint so it can easily be set up on your kitchen counter. The Europiccola features internal thermostats that continuously monitor pressure, solid brass boilers and stainless steel heating elements.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • These guidelines are safe for most home espresso machines
  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Does the La Pavoni Stradivari Europiccola ESW-8 have a pump, or is it completely manual lever operated?

The Stradivari Europiccola ESW-8 is a fully manual lever espresso machine. It does not have a rotary or vibratory pump. Pressure is created by you pulling the lever, giving you direct control over extraction.

Is there any kind of pre-infusion feature on this machine?

Yes. While there is no electronic pre-infusion, you can perform manual pre-infusion by raising the lever to allow water to saturate the coffee puck before pulling down to build pressure. This manual process effectively acts as pre-infusion.

What is the boiler capacity and how many espresso shots can I realistically make in one session?

The single brass boiler holds about 0.8 liters (approximately 27 fl oz). In practical use, you can typically pull 8–16 single shots (or 4–8 doubles), depending on shot size, time between shots, and how much steam you use for milk.

Is the Stradivari Europiccola ESW-8 a 110V machine compatible with standard US outlets?

Yes. The ESW-8 model is the 110V US version and is designed to be used with standard 120V/60Hz household outlets in the United States.

Can this machine be plumbed directly into a water line, or does it use a water tank only?

This model is not plumbable. It uses an internal boiler that you fill manually from the top. There is no connection for direct plumbing to a water line.

What type of portafilter and basket size does it use, and is it compatible with standard 58 mm accessories?

The Stradivari Europiccola uses a proprietary La Pavoni portafilter that is approximately 51–52 mm in diameter, not the common 58 mm size. Standard 58 mm tampers, baskets, and portafilters are not compatible; you will need accessories made specifically for La Pavoni lever machines.

Are the wood handles and knobs real wood, and do they get hot during use?

Yes, the handles and knobs on the ESW-8 are made from real wood. They are designed to stay cooler than metal components, but they can still become warm during extended use. You can safely operate the lever and steam knob by holding the wood parts as intended.

Does this machine have a cool‑touch or no‑burn steam wand?

No. The steam wand on the Stradivari Europiccola is not a cool‑touch or no‑burn design. It will get hot during use, so you should use the wooden knob and a cloth when adjusting or cleaning the wand.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
