Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Your filter program is only as reliable as the motor behind your retail bags and batch brews. The Mahlkonig Guatemala exists for the shop that has graduated past the vibrating retail grinders of the last decade and needs a dedicated commercial classification to keep pace with a morning rush. The full-aluminum body isn't just about durability; it's a statement of intent for a counter space where every square inch is expected to perform. This is the grinder that ensures your reputation for quality survives the transition from your bar to your customer's kitchen.

Product Features

Refreshed 2.0 Design

This new and improved version gives the classic a clean face-lift while maintaining the model’s loved and proven technical specifications. Teams upgrading from the original Guatemala will find familiar performance with an updated aesthetic.

Filter-Optimized Performance

The Guatemala 2.0 is Mahlkönig's dedicated filter grinder, built for steady filter brewing workflows in a café environment. As the refreshed iteration of the popular Guatemala filter grinder, it’s designed to support continuous filter service with consistent output.

Increased Hopper Capacity

The Guatemala 2.0 class comes with an increased hopper capacity to cut down on refill interruptions during busy service. Fewer top-ups mean more uninterrupted grinding during peak periods.

Full-Aluminum Body

A sleek full-aluminum body provides a durable chassis engineered for long-term use in commercial settings. The all-aluminum construction supports maximum longevity under daily café demands.

Commercial Grinder Classification

Sold as the Mahlkönig Guatemala 2.0 Commercial Grinder and listed under part number 702507, this model is positioned for café and hospitality use. The commercial designation indicates suitability for higher throughput and professional operation.

200+ kg of Daily Throughput

Built for intermittent duty — roughly [40/45] minutes on, 100 minutes off — the Guatemala 2.0 delivers 200+ kg of throughput a day, enough to keep pace with continuous bag-grinding and retail demand without overheating.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Retail & Bulk Grinding Operations — Built for high-volume retail grind-to-order and bulk production, not single-shot espresso dosing. At up to 370 kg/day, the 71mm flat hardened steel burrs handle sustained, large-batch grinding without slowing down
  • Established Coffee Programs — Shops upgrading from entry-level commercial grinders that want a step up in build quality and grind consistency without jumping to the largest, most expensive units
  • German-Engineering Buyers — Built in Germany, where manufacturing standards leave little room for shortcuts

It's Right For You If:

  • You need raw bulk throughput, not espresso-bar dosing. The 71mm flat hardened steel burrs are built for sustained large-batch grinding — up to 200 kg per day — for retail or bulk-production volumes.
  • You appreciate commercial-grade construction that holds up to daily use. 71mm flat hardened steel burrs rated for serious volume, with the adjustability to fine-tune for different beans.

Things to Consider:

  • At 60 lbs, this is a permanent fixture — not something you’ll move for cleaning. Plan your layout accordingly.
  • The 3500 RPM motor is fast, which means throughput — but also more heat generation per gram. For preserving delicate aromatics in single-origin coffee, lower RPM units have an edge.
  • No programmable dosing presets — this is a bulk/batch grinder, not an on-demand single-dose unit, so output is timed or weighed manually per batch.

Our Take:

The Mahlkonig Guatemala Grinder is built for bulk grinding at scale — up to 200 kg/day — not for pulling shots at the bar. It’s the right tool when your bottleneck is volume, not espresso dosing.

Product FAQ

Is the Mahlkonig Guatemala grinder suitable for both espresso and filter coffee, or is it better for specific brew methods?

The Mahlkonig Guatemala is designed primarily as a versatile shop grinder for batch brew, pour over, cupping, and grinding bags of coffee, rather than as a dedicated on‑demand espresso grinder. It can grind fine enough for some espresso setups, but it truly excels at medium to coarse settings like drip, pour over, Chemex, French press, and cupping. If your main use is espresso service, a dedicated espresso grinder may be a better choice; for multi‑purpose or retail grinding, the Guatemala is excellent.

What type and size of burrs does the Mahlkonig Guatemala grinder use?

The Mahlkonig Guatemala uses flat, hardened steel burrs specifically engineered for high‑volume commercial use and consistent particle size. Burr diameter and exact specifications can vary by production run or sub‑model, so it’s best to check the current technical specs on the product page or user manual if you need precise dimensions for your application or replacement parts.

How long do the burrs last and how often will I need to replace them?

Burr life depends on how much coffee you grind, the roast level, and how clean you keep the grinder. In a typical café or retail environment, Mahlkonig’s hardened steel burrs can often deliver several hundred kilograms of grinding before noticeable quality loss, while lower‑volume use (like a small shop or office) can see significantly longer intervals. Signs you may need new burrs include slower grinding, more fines and dust, uneven particle size, or flat‑tasting brews. For heavy commercial use, many operators plan for burr replacement roughly every 6–12 months; for lower volume, it may be every 1–3 years. Always refer to Mahlkonig’s current burr life recommendations for your specific model.

Is the Mahlkonig Guatemala a stepless grinder, and how precise are the grind adjustments?

The Guatemala uses a stepped adjustment system with clearly defined grind settings. This makes it easy to return to specific settings for different brew methods or customer preferences, which is ideal for cafés and retail grinding. While it’s not stepless like many dedicated espresso grinders, the range of steps is designed to cover everything from relatively fine through very coarse, with repeatable, easy‑to‑train operation.

What types of settings is this grinder best suited for (café, roastery, home, restaurant, office, etc.)?

The Mahlkonig Guatemala is primarily built for commercial and professional use—coffee shops, roasteries, retail grinding, offices, labs, and restaurants that need consistent, relatively high‑volume grinding. It’s excellent as a shop grinder for grinding bags of coffee to order, for cupping labs, and for batch brew or pour‑over stations. Enthusiast home users with the space and budget can certainly use it, but it’s larger and more powerful than what most home users typically need.

How fast does the Mahlkonig Guatemala grind, and can it keep up with multiple drinks or bags of coffee during busy times?

The Guatemala is designed for high throughput and can grind a standard 12 oz (340 g) bag of coffee in well under a minute, depending on grind setting and bean type. Coarser settings (batch brew, French press) will be faster, while finer settings take slightly longer. In a café or retail environment, it can comfortably keep up with continuous grinding of multiple bags or large batches for drip coffee service. For on‑demand espresso shots, however, a dedicated espresso grinder may provide faster workflow per drink.

Does the Mahlkonig Guatemala support hands‑free operation, and what is the workflow like for grinding?

The Guatemala includes a bag or container holder that allows you to rest a retail bag or catch bin while grinding, providing semi hands‑free operation once the bag is secured. The workflow is straightforward: load beans into the hopper, select or confirm your grind setting, secure the bag or bin, then activate the grinder. It’s built for quick, repeatable use behind the bar or at a retail counter.

Does the Mahlkonig Guatemala offer timed or grind‑by‑weight dosing, or is it strictly manual?

Most Mahlkonig Guatemala configurations are manual‑dose grinders: you start and stop grinding as needed, visually confirming the volume or using an external scale for weight. It does not include built‑in grind‑by‑weight technology or programmable timed dosing like some dedicated espresso grinders. If precise dose control is critical, you’ll want to pair it with a scale or choose a grinder with integrated dosing controls.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
