Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

A café’s reputation is usually tested by the friction of a morning rush, where thermal stability becomes a matter of survival rather than a technical specification. You need a grinder that maintains its composure and its grind setting when the line reaches the door and the burrs haven't stopped spinning for an hour. The GFC system handles the physical realities of static and clumping before the coffee ever hits the basket, saving your baristas from the performative gymnastics of manual distribution. This is the equipment that tells your staff you value their workflow as much as the contents of the cup.

Product Features

83 mm High-Carbon Burrs

High Carbon Steel Burrs (83 mm flat, made in Italy) deliver a uniform particle distribution across the grind range, promoting even extraction and repeatable shots. The large flat burr geometry helps maintain consistency under continuous use in a busy café.

Stepless Micrometric Adjustment

Stepless Micrometric Adjustment gives baristas infinite, click-free control over grind size so you can dial precisely for dose and yield changes during service. That level of control makes it faster to adapt between beans and recipes without hunting through preset stops.

Commercial-Grade Motor

Commercial-Grade Motor provides high torque to handle continuous commercial loads without heat buildup; the grinder runs at 1400 RPM (50Hz) / 1600 RPM (60Hz) and draws 650 W. That sustained performance keeps particle size stable across a full day of service.

Grind Flow Control (GFC) System

The Grind Flow Control (GFC) System reduces electrostatic charge to minimize spillage and clumping, keeping dosing clean and predictable during busy shifts. Cleaner flow means less waste and fewer interrupted shots when throughput matters most.

Dual Fan Cooling System

Dual Fan Cooling System keeps beans and burrs cooler while grinding to preserve aroma compounds and avoid heat-related changes to the grind. That thermal management helps maintain flavor consistency across back-to-back pulls.

Adjustable Portafilter Holder & On-Demand

Adjustable Portafilter Holder allows hands-free operation and centers grind flow directly into the basket, while On-Demand Grinding is easily activated by the portafilter. Together they speed workflow, reduce mess, and ensure consistent dosing during peak service.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Multi-Group Commercial Espresso Bars — 83mm flat high-carbon steel burrs at 3.0-3.5 g/sec with a 1.6kg hopper. Built for cafés pulling hundreds of shots daily where grinder consistency directly impacts cup quality
  • Mazzer Loyalists Who Want the Major Platform — The Major V is the electronic evolution of Mazzer's proven Major line — same 83mm burrs, same Venetian build, with programmable dosing added
  • Operators Who Want Proven Over Novel — Mazzer has been building grinders in Venice since 1958. The Major V carries that pedigree without chasing trends

It's Right For You If:

  • You need a grinder that handles peak-hour volume without thermal drift — the 83mm high-carbon steel burrs and 1400 RPM motor deliver that consistency.
  • Programmable electronic dosing lets your baristas set targets and repeat them, reducing waste and training time across shifts.

Things to Consider:

  • At 20.5kg, this is the heaviest grinder in the Mazzer lineup. It is not moving once it is on your bar — plan your station layout accordingly.
  • 3.0-3.5 g/sec is a range — finer espresso settings will grind at the lower end. If you need maximum throughput, the 1400 RPM motor prioritizes consistency over raw speed.
  • No grind-by-weight — dosing is time-based. Close enough for most workflows, but purists may want to weigh.

Our Take:

The Mazzer Major V Electronic is the grinder for serious espresso programs — 83mm burrs, Venetian build, programmable dosing. It is not the flashiest grinder on the market, but it is one of the most proven. If your café needs reliability at volume, this delivers.

The Major V features a new Grind Flow Control, grinding statistics, stepless grinding adjustments, chrome plated fork rest. It also comes with programmable controls and a doser funnel for your grounds. The controls allow you to program your shots, you can set up a single or double and pulse when needed.

Grind Flow Control

The GFC System consists of a removable aluminum outlet insert with three interchangeable wire dampers. The Grind Flow Control System (GFC) assists in superior clump reduction, particle size distribution, and reduces mess on your counter by reducing the electrostatic charge.

Programmable Fast Shots and Low Retention

The new Major V gives you the option to have 3 recordable settings and can give you a 20 gram shot in a little under 5 seconds. Its 83 mm steel flat burrs allow it speed through 4-5 grams per second.

Smart Design

This intuitive espresso grinder not only gives you statistics but also service alerts. From the control panel you can get a Total Dose Counter, Partial Dose Counter and daily grinding stats. It will alert you when the burrs need to be changed or firmware needs upgraded.

83mm Flat Burrs

The size of the burrs in coffee grinders, such as the 83mm ones, is crucial for achieving high-quality coffee. These larger burrs create a consistent grind by breaking down coffee beans into uniform particles, which significantly impacts the taste of your brew. Unlike standard burrs, the unique design of 83mm burrs improves the distribution of grounds for better consistency in your extraction process. Additionally, these burrs are made from materials that minimizes heat transfer during grinding to preserve the flavor of your coffee. With their durable build and extended performance, larger burrs like the 83mm ones have a longer lifespan compared to smaller ones, ensuring a flavorful and predictable coffee experience.

Stepless Grinder

The Major V espresso grinder features micrometric stepless grinding adjustments and a chrome plated fork rest. The new adjustment collar also allows for easy, accessible cleaning of the grinding chamber without losing the last saved grind setting.

Stepless grinders differ from stepped grinders in that they do not have preset grind settings; instead, they feature a collar that you can rotate to adjust the grind size. This collar is usually marked with incremental lines or notches, providing a way to monitor the grind size.

Dual Fan Cooling System

The dual fan cooling system is an essential component of coffee grinders, as it plays a vital role in maintaining performance and preserving coffee quality. Here's why it's important:

  1. Heat Reduction: Coffee grinding creates heat through the friction between the burrs and beans, which can negatively impact the flavor and aroma of the coffee. The dual fan system actively dissipates this heat to prevent the grounds from overheating during grinding.
  2. Consistent Extraction: Heat can affect the extraction process, causing premature release of volatile compounds from hot coffee grounds and leading to uneven extraction. The dual fan system maintains a consistent temperature to ensure balanced flavors in espresso shots.
  3. Shot Time Stability: In busy cafes, consistent shot times are crucial, but heat buildup can cause variations in grind particle size and extraction times. The dual fan cooling system minimizes these fluctuations, allowing baristas to maintain precise shot times even during peak hours.
  4. Reduced Recalibration: Grinders without proper cooling may require frequent recalibration due to temperature-induced changes in grind consistency. The dual fan system helps stabilize grind settings, reducing the need for constant adjustments.
  5. Longevity: Excessive heat can accelerate wear and tear on grinder components, but the dual fan cooling system helps maintain a lower temperature to contribute to the grinder's longevity.

Hands Free Operations

The Mazzer Major V's portafilter fork offers exceptional adjustability, making it a standout choice in the market. Its three-way adjustability accommodates even the most unique portafilters effortlessly. With hands-free grinding feature, time is saved, and coffee can be dispensed directly into the center of almost any portafilter. The Major V Electronic's hands-free portafilter-activated grinding is impressively precise, consistently hitting the center of the insert basket with just a few adjustments.

Internet Connected Grinder (optional)

Stay connected to your grinder through the cloud, no matter where you are. With an internet-enabled platform, you can remotely access data about your grinder. Monitor its output and stay on top of maintenance requirements with ease.

Historic Italian Grinder Brand

Founded in the late 1940s on the outskirts of Venice, Italy, Mazzer set out to create top-tier grinders for espresso coffee bars. Over the years, Mazzer has consistently supplied gourmet coffee roasters and bar owners of all sizes with products that have set the benchmark for quality in the global coffee sector. In addition to this, Mazzer is dedicated to advancing their technology by conducting research and development into manufacturing their own burrs.

Who Needs the Major V Electronic?

This commercial espresso grinder is produced with fine Italian construction, ease of use and reliability and would be a mainstay in any medium to high volume shop.

Product FAQ

What type and size of burrs does the Mazzer Major V Electronic Espresso Grinder use, and are they flat or conical?

The Mazzer Major V Electronic uses large 83 mm flat steel burrs designed specifically for espresso grinding, providing fast, consistent, and low-retention grinding performance for commercial and prosumer setups.

How often do I need to replace the burrs, and how long do they typically last in daily use?

Burr life depends on volume and bean hardness, but for typical commercial use, the 83 mm flat burrs are often rated for roughly 1,500–2,000+ pounds of coffee before replacement. In a busy café, this may mean every 1–2 years; in lower‑volume or prosumer settings, they can last significantly longer. Replace them when you notice slower grinding, more heat, or declining shot consistency.

Is the Mazzer Major V Electronic a stepless grinder, and how precise is the grind adjustment for dialing in espresso?

Yes. The Mazzer Major V Electronic uses a stepless micrometric adjustment collar, allowing you to make very fine incremental changes to the grind size. This is ideal for dialing in espresso shots precisely and accommodating small changes in beans, roast level, and ambient conditions.

Is this grinder suitable for different environments such as cafés, restaurants, and serious home bars, and what is its typical use case?

The Mazzer Major V Electronic is primarily built as a commercial‑grade espresso grinder for cafés, coffee bars, and restaurants that need high speed and consistency. It’s also popular with serious home enthusiasts and prosumer users who want commercial performance at home and have the space, power, and budget for a large grinder.

Can the Mazzer Major V Electronic grind for both espresso and filter coffee, or is it dedicated to espresso only?

The Major V Electronic is optimized for espresso grinding with its stepless adjustment and burr geometry. While it can be adjusted coarser, it’s best used as a dedicated espresso grinder. Frequent switching between espresso and filter ranges isn’t recommended because it can be time‑consuming to re‑dial and less convenient than using a separate grinder for filter coffee.

Does this grinder offer hands‑free operation, and how does the portafilter holder work?

Yes. The Mazzer Major V Electronic includes an adjustable portafilter fork and holder that allows hands‑free grinding directly into the portafilter. Once set to fit your portafilter, you can lock it in place, start the dose, and let the grinder fill it without needing to hold it the entire time.

What dosing options does the Mazzer Major V Electronic provide—timed, manual, or grind‑by‑weight?

The Major V Electronic is a timed‑dosing grinder with programmable electronic dosing options, typically allowing you to set multiple presets (for example, single and double shots) based on time. It also offers manual dosing via a continuous mode. It is not a grind‑by‑weight grinder and does not include a built‑in scale.

How fast does the Mazzer Major V Electronic grind, and can it keep up with busy rush periods in a café?

Thanks to its 83 mm flat burrs and powerful motor, the Mazzer Major V Electronic grinds very quickly, usually producing an 18–20 g espresso dose in just a few seconds (exact time depends on the grind setting and beans). It is designed to handle high‑volume, back‑to‑back shots and can comfortably keep up with busy café or restaurant service when properly set up and maintained.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
