Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Expanding your service capacity shouldn't require knocking down a wall just to make room for a wider bar. This compact two-group footprint acknowledges that your square footage is every bit as valuable as your extraction quality. It provides the volumetric consistency required to keep your staff moving through a rush without the output drift that plagues lighter, less stable equipment. You aren't buying more machine than your space allows; you're buying exactly enough to keep your reputation intact when the line starts to wrap around the corner.

Product Features

Volumetric Consistency

Volumetric models let you program desired shot volumes so the machine pulls the same dose every time, freeing baristas to focus on service. Ideal for shops that need repeatable shot weights and faster throughput across a full shift.

Compact Two-Group Footprint

Shrinks the Appia Life by 9 inches in width while keeping two groups, two steam wands and a hot water spout. That reduced footprint fits tighter back-of-house or counter space without sacrificing the capacity needed for a busy small shop.

Semi-Automatic Control

The Semi-Automatic version uses a simple on/off switch to give the barista full control of extraction time, making it easier to dial in different blends and respond to bean or grind variation. Good for teams that prioritize hands-on shot tuning during service.

Auto-Steam Wand Option

The Volumetric model is compatible with 1 Auto-Steam Wand that textures milk with no manual input—place the wand in the pitcher and it performs the routine automatically. This reduces labor during peak periods and helps maintain consistent milk texture between baristas.

Generous Stainless Boiler

A 7.5 L stainless steel boiler provides the water volume and thermal stability needed for sustained steam demand. That boiler size supports simultaneous multi-drink steaming and keeps temperatures steady during continuous service.

Commercial Certifications

Built to commercial standards with UL, SA and NSF/ANSI Std.4 certifications, making the machine suitable for foodservice environments that require certified equipment. Those approvals simplify compliance for cafés and restaurants.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Space-constrained cafés and small restaurants — The compact two-group footprint fits tight counters where a full-size commercial machine won't, without sacrificing commercial-grade performance
  • New café operators building their first commercial setup — Volumetric dosing and the Soft Infusion System compensate for minor tamping inconsistencies, making staff training faster
  • Coffee programs pulling 50-150 shots daily — The 5L boiler and rapid recovery handle moderate volume with consistent thermal stability

Right For You If:

  • Your counter space is limited but your volume demands two-group commercial capacity — you need the smaller footprint without downgrading performance.
  • You're opening your first café and want a machine that forgives minor technique errors while your baristas build their skills.
  • Your daily shot count is 50-150 and you need consistent extraction without investing in a machine sized for 300+ shots.

Things to Consider:

  • The 5L boiler handles moderate volume well but will show its limits during sustained rushes — if your peak periods are intense, size up to a larger boiler.
  • The SIS pre-infusion system is fixed, not programmable — you get consistent pre-infusion but can't adjust it for different roast profiles.
  • The compact footprint means less cup warmer space and a tighter work area around the groups — plan your workflow accordingly.

Our Take:

The Appia Life Compact is the smart entry point for operators who need two-group commercial capacity in a tight space — it doesn't try to be more than it is, and that's exactly the point. If you're fitting out a small café or restaurant and want Nuova Simonelli reliability without a massive footprint, this machine delivers.

Appia Life 2 Group Compact Volumetric by Nuova Simonelli

The Appia Life by Nuova Simonelli incorporates several of the features found in the Aurelia, which is recognized as one of the best-performing espresso machines to hit the market in recent years. Appia Life combines beauty, durability, functionality, ergonomics, and versatility the same as its previous version the Appia II.

Commercial Warranty

When investing in coffee equipment, peace of mind is worth its weight in gold. This warranty is your guarantee against manufacturer's defects and ensures that all parts are covered for an entire 2 years from the date of purchase. We understand that our customers deserve the very best.

Don't let uncertainty overshadow your love for freshly brewed coffee – take advantage of this limited-time offer and experience unparalleled assurance with your next coffee machine purchase.

Paid Shipping

At Coffeeionado, we understand the frustration of hidden costs when making online purchases. This is why we're thrilled to announce that we now cover all shipping, freight, and handling charges for our premium coffee equipment. Gone are the days of considering additional fees as you add items to your cart.

Automatic Controls

The Appia Life is an automatic volumetric machine that allows you to just press a button and the machine will run a programmed dose. This is great for shops that are busy and don't have time to operate a semi-automatic machine (where you have to press a button to stop the shot). It also features an upgraded switchboard with touch control commands.

Made For Medium Volume Shops

Staff with less experience or multi-functional baristas (i.e. not always at the machine). Suitable for restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, and offices.

Standard Features

All Appia Life models retain standard features like soft infusion, powerful steam with push-pull controls, cool-touch wands with steam tips ideal for micro-foaming, automatic back-flushing, and much more.

Get the Perfect Extraction

The Soft Infusion System, developed by the techs at Simonelli, is an innovative pre-infusion system that is adjustable, consistent, and has no risk of user error. It is unique because it extracts centrifugally by injecting water at different angles into the coffee cake which eliminates channeling and maximizes espresso extraction by creating more contact time between the water and coffee.

Energy Savings

The Appia Life delivers 20% less environmental impact and a 13% energy savings. It also features a thermally compensated soft-infusion design that delivers great-tasting espresso shot after shot.

The Brand: Nuova Simonelli

Nuova Simonelli has been building espresso machines since 1936. They build all their commercial machines with the key features expected from one of the most respected and renowned coffee machine manufacturers in the world. The Appia Life is a powerful machine that will operate smoothly with consistent customer flows.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Does the Nuova Simonelli Appia Life 2 Group Compact have a rotary pump or a vibratory pump?

The Appia Life 2 Group Compact is equipped with a commercial-grade rotary pump, which allows for stable pressure, quieter operation, and direct connection to a water line.

Is the Appia Life 2 Group Compact a direct-plumb machine, or can it use an internal water tank?

The Appia Life 2 Group Compact is designed to be direct-plumbed into your water line. It does not include an internal water reservoir, so a plumbed water connection and proper filtration are required for installation.

Does this machine offer pre-infusion, and is it adjustable?

Yes. The Appia Life 2 Group Compact includes soft pre-infusion, which gently saturates the coffee puck before full pressure extraction to improve consistency and reduce channeling. The pre-infusion timing and parameters can typically be adjusted through the machine’s programming menu by a qualified technician or experienced operator.

Does it come with cool-touch (no-burn) steam wands?

Yes. The Appia Life 2 Group Compact is configured with cool-touch steam wands. These wands stay cooler to the touch during steaming, reduce the risk of burns, and help prevent milk from baking onto the wand, making cleanup easier.

What is the boiler size on the Appia Life 2 Group Compact, and is it sufficient for a busy café?

The Appia Life 2 Group Compact typically features a heat-exchange boiler of approximately 7.5–8 liters (varies slightly by configuration). This size is designed for small to medium-volume commercial environments, such as cafés, coffee carts, and restaurants that need to make multiple milk-based drinks back-to-back without running out of steam capacity.

Is this machine volumetric, and can I program shot volumes for consistency?

Yes. The Appia Life 2 Group Compact is a volumetric espresso machine. Each group has programmable dose buttons that allow you to set and save shot volumes (single, double, etc.), so staff can pull consistent shots with one touch once the volumes are dialed in.

What kind of power and electrical requirements does the Appia Life 2 Group Compact have in the US?

In the US, the Appia Life 2 Group Compact generally requires a 220–240V, 50/60 Hz, dedicated circuit (amperage varies by model and options, often around 20–30A). A properly rated outlet and breaker are needed. Always confirm the exact electrical specifications on the machine’s data plate and consult an electrician before installation.

Does the machine require a water filtration or softening system, and will using hard water void the warranty?

Nuova Simonelli strongly recommends using proper water filtration and, where needed, water softening to protect the boiler and internal components from scale buildup. In many cases, warranty coverage can be affected if damage is caused by poor water quality, so a filtration/softening system that meets local water conditions is highly recommended and often required by installers.

How does paid installation work?

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
