Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

The third group isn't for show; it’s for the Tuesday morning rush when your staff needs equipment that acts as a partner rather than a bottleneck. This machine signals to everyone in the room that your shop prioritizes repeatability over the theater of the pour. Integrated Aurelia Wave Smart Water Technology monitors water quality in real-time, protecting your internal components from the mineral buildup that usually ends a machine’s career. You are investing in the capacity to keep your promise to your customers when the shop is at its loudest.

Product Features

High-Resolution Display

A high-resolution screen ships standard on the Wave Vol and gives baristas fingertip access to machine settings. From this display you can program dosages, monitor status and adjust key parameters without tools or technicians.

Volumetric Dosing

Engineered as a volumetric espresso machine (Wave Vol), it delivers pre-measured shot volumes for repeatable extraction across shifts. That consistency speeds service, reduces waste and keeps throughput steady during busy periods.

Programmable Pre-Infusion & Pressure

Control pre-infusion and boiler pressure directly from the interface to tailor extraction to different blends and roast profiles. Precise control of these variables helps maintain consistent crema and cup quality across high-volume service.

Aurelia Wave Smart Water Technology

Optional Aurelia Wave Smart Water Technology detects basic water parameters and warns the operator when water quality changes. By catching shifts in water chemistry early, it protects brew consistency and reduces long-term equipment issues and maintenance costs.

Large Stainless-Steel Boilers

A 17 L stainless-steel boiler provides the thermal reserve to sustain simultaneous steaming and brewing across all three groups during back-to-back service. That capacity keeps temperatures stable under the sustained demand of a high-volume commercial environment.

Commercial Power & Certifications

Configured for commercial installation with 220 V supply at 25 A / 5400 W, and carrying UL, SA and NSF/ANSI Std.4 certifications. Confirm a dedicated 220 V circuit in your installation plan — Coffeeionado covers professional installation within the continental USA.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • High-volume cafés and coffee chains — 300–700 shots daily with programmable volumetric dosing ensures consistent output across every barista on the team
  • Hospitality operations with rotating staff — Volumetric programming means new baristas can pull consistent shots with minimal training time
  • Operations that want the Aurelia Wave platform with automation — All the boiler quality and smart water technology of the Wave line, paired with the operational efficiency of volumetric control

Right For You If:

  • Your daily shot count is 250–700 and you want programmable volumetric dosing so every barista pulls consistent doubles without manual timing.
  • You want the option of both reservoir and direct plumbed operation — flexibility for different installation scenarios or as a backup.
  • You have 220V power (NEMA L6-30) and a direct water line.

Things to Consider:

  • The stainless steel boiler is lower-maintenance than copper regarding water chemistry, but the machine still benefits from quality filtration to protect internal components.
  • LCD display provides useful feedback but does not offer the granular real-time data of more advanced touchscreen systems — if your team wants detailed shot analytics, consider the T3 variant.
  • At 300–700 shots daily this covers most independent and small-chain café volumes, but operations consistently at the upper end should monitor boiler recovery during sustained multi-group peak service.

Our Take:

The Aurelia Wave Volumetric is the practical choice for high-volume operations that want Nuova Simonelli quality with the operational consistency of automated dosing — your baristas focus on milk and service while the machine handles shot volume reliably. If you are running a busy café or a small chain and need a machine that scales with your team, this is a proven platform.

That makes this one of the most flexible and consistent volumetric espresso machines.

Volumetric controls with high resolution display

Volumetric Controls

Volumetric espresso machines with automated features offer a great solution for coffee shops and home users alike. From easy-to-use programmable features, to increased consistency in every cup of espresso, these machines make brewing the perfect cup easier than ever before. When using espresso machines with volumetric pumps, you benefit from their precision. These pumps guarantee accurate water-to-coffee ratios, a key factor in making great espresso.

Automatic Espresso Machine

Automatic espresso machines have revolutionized the way baristas operate in coffee shops, allowing them to focus on other tasks while still producing high-quality espressos. With programmable doses, baristas can set specific measurements for each shot of espresso, ensuring consistency and efficiency in the brewing process. This feature not only helps save time but also maintains the quality and flavor of the final product. Meanwhile, they can also focus on other tasks such as taking money, steaming milk, or other work tasks.

Pre-Infusion SIS Technology

The Soft Infusion System, developed by the techs at Simonelli, is an innovative pre-infusion system that is adjustable, consistent and has no risk of user error. It is unique because it extracts centrifugally by injecting water at different angles into the coffee cake, which eliminates channeling and maximizes espresso extraction by creating more contact time between the water and coffee.

Cool Touch No-Burn Steam Wands

With these revolutionary features, you can froth and steam milk without any concerns about getting burned. The cool touch technology ensures that the wand remains at a safe temperature, allowing you to focus on creating the perfect espresso drinks without any worries. Say goodbye to accidental burns and hello to a more enjoyable coffee-making process with our state-of-the-art espresso machine.

Energy Savings

Experience the ultimate energy efficiency with this espresso machine's ECO function, designed to optimize energy usage based on real-time operation. By activating the ECO function during periods of inactivity, you can achieve up to 20% energy savings without compromising on performance. Say goodbye to unnecessary energy consumption and hello to a more sustainable and cost-effective coffee experience. Try the ECO function today and take the first step towards a greener future!

Heritage in Performance

Nuova Simonelli builds all their commercial machines with the key features expected from one of the most respected and renowned coffee machine manufacturers in the world. The Aurelia Wave is a powerful machine that will reliably operate with consistent customer flows.

Closeup of display

LCD Display

With this machine you can easily set machine settings using a high-quality LCD screen, allowing for quick access to various functions. Adjusting dosages, pre-infusion, boiler pressure, and energy settings is a breeze with the clear instructions provided on the screen.

Barista Lights (optional)

Work is easy with this commercial espresso machine since you don't need to worry about shadows. The LED barista lights allow baristas to see what they are doing and not work in the dark.

Barista lights optional

Raised Group Heads

If you provide a various range of cup sizes, the elevated group heads on espresso machines prove to be extremely beneficial. They eliminate the need for baristas to brew into shot glasses and then transfer the espresso into larger cups, allowing them to brew directly into taller cups and maintain an efficient workflow.

Heat Exchanger 17 Liter Boiler

This 17-liter commercial espresso machine with a heat exchange boiler is a high-powered and efficient coffee-making tool specifically designed for professional use in cafes, restaurants, and other commercial environments. Here are the key features:

  • Fast Recover: With such a large boiler, this machine will be able to take care of any rush and offer exceptional quality shot after shot with minimum recovery time.
  • Boiler Capacity: The 17-liter boiler offers plenty of space for making multiple espresso shots and steaming milk at the same time. Heat exchange machines utilize a single boiler to handle both brewing and steaming tasks.
  • Heat Exchange: In contrast to dual boiler machines that have separate boilers for brewing and steaming, heat exchange machines employ a single boiler with a heat exchange tube. This tube allows hot water from the boiler to heat the brewing water as it flows through, ensuring consistent brewing temperature.
  • Simultaneous Brewing and Steaming: Thanks to the heat exchange system, baristas can brew espresso shots while simultaneously frothing milk for lattes or cappuccinos. This simultaneous operation is essential during peak hours in a commercial setting.
  • Temperature Control: Heat exchange machines maintain steady water temperature for brewing purposes. The boiler remains at steaming temperature, while the heat exchange tube ensures that the brewing water is heated as needed.

Boiler Gauge

The pressure gauge on espresso machines is vital for producing top-notch espresso. It shows the pressure used to extract the coffee, ensuring that water passes through the grounds in the portafilter at the right force. Keeping this pressure steady is key to making excellent espresso shots every time.

For High Volume Cafes

This handcrafted Italian espresso machine would be perfect in high-volume cafes. It has made pulling shots as fast and simple as possible, allowing you to focus on your customers.

Suitable for: High quality coffee shops, medium - high volume locations, demanding professionals, barista competitors, specialty coffee shops.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Is the Nuova Simonelli Aurelia Wave 3 Group Volumetric a direct‑plumbed machine, or can it use a water reservoir?

The Aurelia Wave 3 Group Volumetric is designed as a commercial, direct‑plumbed espresso machine. It must be connected to a dedicated water line and does not use an internal reservoir for normal operation.

Does the Aurelia Wave 3 Group Volumetric use a rotary pump, and how does that affect noise and performance?

Yes. It uses a commercial‑grade rotary pump, which delivers consistent pressure for brewing and is significantly quieter than a vibratory pump—ideal for busy cafés and open counter service environments.

Does this machine have programmable pre‑infusion, and can I customize shot volumes for each group?

Yes. The volumetric model allows you to program multiple shot volumes per group and includes a pre‑infusion stage. You can adjust and save doses so staff can pull consistent single, double, and custom shots at the touch of a button.

Are the steam wands cool‑touch or no‑burn, and how many steam wands does the 3‑group model include?

The Aurelia Wave 3 Group Volumetric includes two cool‑touch (no‑burn) steam wands. These are insulated to stay significantly cooler to the touch and reduce milk buildup, making them safer and easier to clean.

What electrical requirements does the Nuova Simonelli Aurelia Wave 3 Group Volumetric have for US installations?

Most US‑spec Aurelia Wave 3 Group machines require a 220–240V, 50/60 Hz, dedicated circuit (typically 30A; exact specs can vary by configuration). Always check the machine’s data plate and consult a licensed electrician to ensure proper wiring and breaker size.

What size boiler does the 3‑group Aurelia Wave have, and is it a heat‑exchange or multi‑boiler system?

The Aurelia Wave 3 Group Volumetric uses a large single steam boiler with heat‑exchange circuits for each group. Boiler capacity is 17 liters, providing strong steam power and stability for high‑volume service.

Is the Aurelia Wave 3 Group Volumetric suitable for high‑volume cafés, and approximately how many drinks per hour can it handle?

Yes. This model is built for high‑volume commercial use. In a well‑organized workflow with a proper grinder, it can comfortably support hundreds of drinks per day and sustained rush periods, often exceeding 200–300 espresso shots per hour in practice.

Does the machine include an automatic hot water tap for Americanos and tea, and is the temperature adjustable?

The Aurelia Wave 3 Group includes an automatic hot water tap. Many configurations allow you to adjust hot water dose and, in some cases, temperature or mix settings through the control menu, depending on the specific model and firmware.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
