Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Refilling a water reservoir eventually stops feeling like a ritual and starts feeling like a bottleneck. This machine is built for the transition from enthusiast to operator, where the goal is a repeatable workflow rather than a lucky shot. Opting for a direct connect setup removes the manual maintenance that interrupts a morning, allowing you to focus on the actual mechanics of the extraction. It is the shift from owning a kitchen appliance to managing a dedicated station.

Product Features

Prosumer Steam Wand

Prosumer steam wand — High-pressure steam and an intuitive sliding-valve control let you texture milk at café speed and with café-level consistency. The wand’s design shortens steam time so you can hit microfoam targets faster during busy service or frequent mornings.

Heat Exchanger Boiler

Heat Exchanger — A 2L brass/copper heat-exchanger boiler separates steam and brew circuits so you can pull shots and steam milk nearly simultaneously. That thermal design delivers consistent brew temperature and quick, reliable brewing for high-use home bars or small cafés.

Programmable Pre-Infusion Controls

Programmed pre-infusion + back-lit buttons — Factory-optimized settings and a clear programmable interface make dialing in extraction straightforward while still leaving room to experiment. The built-in pre-infusion helps produce fuller, more even extractions shot after shot.

Direct Connect (Plumbed)

Direct Connect (Plumbed) — Built to be plumbed into a water line, this configuration is intended for a small café or very active home kitchen where continuous service is required. Coffeeionado recommends pairing it with a water filtration system to protect internal components and maintain consistent extraction over time.

58mm Professional Portafilter

58mm professional portafilter (non-pressurized) — Uses a commercial-sized 58mm portafilter so you can run standard commercial baskets and refine dose, distribution, and tamp for greater extraction control. That compatibility is important for baristas focused on consistency and repeatability.

Solenoid Valve & Backflushing

Solenoid valve + backflushing capability — The Musica includes a solenoid valve and a backflushing basket, enabling routine group cleaning and helping maintain consistent group behavior over time. Easier servicing means less downtime and steadier performance across busy shifts.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Small office and mid-size workplace coffee programs — Direct plumbing and volumetric dosing deliver consistent output without requiring barista training for every user
  • Home baristas building a plumbed-in station — The 25-minute heat-up is faster than most E61 machines, making it practical for daily home use
  • Enthusiasts upgrading from single-boiler machines — Simultaneous brew and steam via the HX boiler handles morning lattes efficiently

Right For You If:

  • You have direct plumbing available and want a faster warm-up than most E61 HX machines.
  • Your daily drink count is 4–10 and you want volumetric dosing for repeatable shots without manual timing.
  • You are ready to commit to a permanent station with a direct water line connection.

Things to Consider:

  • Requires direct plumbing — no reservoir option means plumbing and water filtration are part of the install.
  • Handles bursts of 4–6 drinks well but requires recovery time between sets for sustained output.
  • The thermocompensated group head is stable but does not offer the PID precision of some competitors.

Our Take:

The Musica Automatic Direct is the faster-warming plumbed-in option in the Musica lineup — 25 minutes to ready and volumetric dosing that takes the guesswork out of repeatable shots. If you want a commercial-grade direct-connect machine that does not keep you waiting half an hour to brew, this is the practical choice for a dedicated station.

Musica Espresso Machine by Nuova Simonelli

The Musica by Nuova Simonelli has been praised for its technology, multi-functionality and reliability. This stylish professional home espresso machine features a sizable 2 liter boiler, direct plumbed connection, programmable automated brewing and is even NSF rated. It is a professional cafe experience made for your kitchen.

Paid Shipping

At Coffeeionado, we understand the frustration of hidden costs when making online purchases. This is why we're thrilled to announce that we now cover all shipping, freight, and handling charges for our premium coffee equipment within the continental USA. Gone are the days of considering additional fees as you add items to your cart.

Brighten Your Morning

The Lux edition of the Musica is a visual beauty. It comes standard with LED lights around the side panels and lights up your space beautifully.

Professional Build

The Muscia is a high performance home espresso machine due to professional components like the filter holder, the temperature compensated group and the articulated steam wand. Added to this are technical and ergonomic features to simplify its use, as with the push and pull steam lever and the soft-touch backlit control panel.

Automatic Dosing

With volumetric dosing you are able to program multiple doses and have your brews ready at the press of a button. Keep your extractions precise and consist with the ease of a button.

Get the Perfect Extraction

The Soft Infusion System, developed by the techs at Simonelli, is an innovative pre-infusion system that is adjustable, consistent and has no risk of user error. It is unique because it extracts centrifugally by injecting water at different angles into the coffee cake which eliminates channeling and maximizes espresso extraction by creating more contact time between the water and coffee

Thermostability

Fitted with a commercial grade grouphead the brew temperature stability is aided by the E61 style group head which is heated by a thermosyphon system and also by the copper boiler and water lines.

Made in Italy

Since 1936, Nuova Simonelli has been a prominent name in the world of professional coffee machinery and grinders. Based outside of Milan, their dedication to cutting-edge technology, creativity, and eco-friendliness guarantees that both coffee aficionados and baristas can enjoy top-notch results in every cup. Known for its practicality, high efficiency, and attractive aesthetics, Nuova Simonelli's equipment is a trusted favorite among coffee enthusiasts and experienced espresso professionals alike.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Is the Nuova Simonelli Musica Automatic Direct a direct-plumb only machine, or can it also run off a water tank?

The Musica Automatic Direct is designed to be directly plumbed into your water line and does not include an internal water tank for reservoir-only use. It must be connected to a water source to operate as intended.

Does the Musica Automatic Direct use a rotary pump or a vibratory pump, and how loud is it in a home or small office setting?

The plumbable Musica models (including the Automatic Direct) use a rotary pump, which is generally quieter and smoother than a vibratory pump. In a typical kitchen or office, the pump noise is noticeable but not disruptive compared with commercial machines.

Does this machine offer pre-infusion, and is the pre-infusion time adjustable?

Yes, the Musica Automatic Direct provides pre-infusion by ramping up pressure gently at the start of extraction. On standard models, pre-infusion is built into the brew cycle but is not user-adjustable without internal programming or modifications.

What type of boiler system does the Musica have, and can it brew espresso and steam milk at the same time?

The Musica uses a heat-exchanger (HX) boiler system. This design allows you to brew espresso and steam milk simultaneously, which is ideal for making multiple milk-based drinks quickly.

Is the steam wand a cool-touch or no-burn design, and does it have enough power for microfoam?

The Musica features an articulated stainless-steel steam wand that runs cooler than basic wands but is not fully marketed as a no-burn wand. It delivers strong steam pressure capable of producing fine microfoam for latte art when used with proper technique.

What size portafilter does the Musica use, and are the baskets compatible with standard 58 mm accessories?

The Musica uses a commercial-style 58 mm portafilter. This size is compatible with most 58 mm tampers, distribution tools, and precision baskets commonly available in the U.S. market.

Does the Musica Automatic Direct have programmable shot volumes or is it manual-only?

The Automatic version is volumetric, meaning you can program shot volumes for different buttons (such as single and double shots). Once set, the machine will automatically stop the extraction when the programmed volume is reached. There is also a manual button for user-controlled shots.

What kind of power requirements does the Musica have, and can it run on a standard U.S. household outlet?

The Musica is rated for 110–120V and 15A, for use on a standard U.S. household outlet. Be sure the outlet is properly grounded and dedicated when possible.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
