Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

The Appartamento TCA is for the person who has outgrown the guesswork of entry-level equipment and developed a genuine preference for specific roast profiles. By integrating PID temperature control into this compact footprint, Rocket Espresso has removed the need for the elaborate cooling flushes that used to define the heat exchanger experience. It is a machine for the home barista who treats their morning ritual with the same professional focus as a dedicated workspace. This is the transition from just making coffee to actually controlling the variables.

Product Features

Heat Exchanger + E61 Group

Rocket’s heat exchanger system lets you brew and steam at the same time, speeding morning routines. The cast E61 group head adds thermal mass for steadier extraction and more consistent flavor as you pull consecutive shots.

PID Temperature Control

A built-in PID lets you lock in brew temperature and reduces swings shot-to-shot—crucial when you’re dialing in at home. The TCA offers four settings (low, medium, high, very high) so you can experiment with light, medium, and dark roasts without guessing.

Insulated 1.8 L Boiler & Cover

The 1.8-liter stainless steel boiler is insulated and ships with a boiler cover to minimize heat loss and save energy between shots. That stability helps you get repeatable extractions and reliable steam performance for milk drinks.

2.5 L Reservoir With Sensor

A generous 2.5-liter water tank keeps refill interruptions to a minimum during busy mornings or tasting sessions. The built-in tank sensor alerts you when it’s time to top up so you don’t get caught mid-pull.

Improved Ergonomics

Small but thoughtful updates—soft-touch matte handles and knobs, a redesigned portafilter for better grip, and a wider drip tray—make daily use more comfortable and precise. A sturdier integrated chassis also reduces the risk of damage during shipping so the machine arrives ready to use.

Eco Mode & Simple Programming

An integrated eco mode powers the machine down after 30 minutes of inactivity to save energy between sessions. The TCA keeps programming straightforward so home baristas can switch temperature profiles and practice their ritual without complex menus.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Home baristas upgrading from entry-level equipment — PID temperature control eliminates the cooling-flush guesswork that defines traditional HX machines
  • Enthusiasts exploring specific roast profiles — The compact footprint and stable thermals let you focus on dialing in beans rather than managing the machine
  • Small households making 2–4 milk drinks daily — Simultaneous brew and steam handles morning lattes without the single-boiler wait

It's Right For You If:

  • You pull 2–4 drinks daily and want consistent temperature without cooling flushes.
  • Your counter space is limited and you need a compact E61 that does not sacrifice steam performance.
  • You are pairing this with a capable 55mm+ burr grinder and want to focus on puck prep rather than thermal management.

Things to Consider:

  • The 40–75 minute warm-up is on the longer side for a compact machine — a smart plug timer is practically required.
  • Thermal stability degrades after 3–4 consecutive milk drinks; this is a home machine, not an entertainer for dinner parties.
  • No built-in shot timer — you will need a separate scale or timer to track extractions consistently.

Our Take:

Rocket took their best-selling compact HX and added PID, which is the one upgrade that actually matters in this class — no more cooling flushes, just stable shots. If you want a serious E61 without giving up counter space or learning to temp-surf, this is the one we would point you to.

e61 group head on Rocket

E61 Group Head

It also features E61 commercial group heads which means you will always have consistent temperatures when pulling your shot. Just remember, with the heat exchange boiler you will want to pull a 7 second flush to get the water to a consistent temperature.

Heat Exchange Espresso Machine

The heat exchange espresso machine is designed to provide a consistent and efficient brewing experience. By utilizing a heat exchange system, the machine is able to simultaneously heat water for brewing and produce steam for frothing milk. This ensures that the temperature of the water remains stable throughout the brewing process, resulting in a flavorful and well-extracted shot of espresso.

PID Temperature Control

PID, an abbreviation for Proportional-Integral-Derivative, is a feedback loop controller utilized in espresso machines to regulate and maintain the water temperature within the boiler. It means you can regulate the temperature on the machine.

With PID controller espresso machines, you ensure that the water temperature remains constant and ideal for producing high-quality espresso.

Extra Features You Will Love

It features a large 2-liter bottom fed reservoir, a 3-way solenoid valve and a lower profile thanks to the puck style feet. The clearance for the group head is 3.5 inches so most espresso containers will fit.

Group Head Warmer

Having a small flow of water off the boiler is essential for keeping your machine's group head warm, which in turn ensures more consistent shot temperatures. By maintaining this consistent warmth, you can achieve optimal brewing conditions and produce high-quality espresso shots with every use.

No-Burn Steam Wands

With these revolutionary features, you can froth and steam milk without any concerns about getting burned. The cool touch technology ensures that the wand remains at a safe temperature, allowing you to focus on creating the perfect espresso drinks without any worries.

Rounded Sides

Round contours give this espresso machine a whole new aesthetic and a new perspective among owners. The smooth curves draw in the eye.

1.8L Copper Boiler

Copper boilers in espresso machines offer exceptional heat conductivity, ensuring rapid heating and faster recovery times for a quicker startup. Maintaining optimal brewing temperatures is essential for consistently good espresso, and copper's ability to uphold steady temperatures contributes to a consistent brew quality. Additionally, copper's natural antimicrobial properties make it a hygienic choice for espresso machines by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms.

Debossed Holes

The machine's unique circles on the sides have been enhanced with a debossing technique, creating a three-dimensional effect.

Perfect for Home Baristas

We love the fact that it is a very compact machine that can fit in almost any kitchen or small office. Even though it has a small footprint, this machine packs a punch. You get all the full features of other Rocket machines delivered in a small compact package.

Vibratory Pump

The Rocket Appartamento espresso machine features a 52-watt vibratory pump, a widely-used model known for its dependable performance and strength. Furthermore, special enhancements have been implemented to minimize the noise generated by the pump's vibrations.

Boiler Gauge

The pressure gauge on espresso machines is vital for producing top-notch espresso. It shows the pressure used to extract the coffee, ensuring that water passes through the grounds in the portafilter at the right force. Keeping this pressure steady is key to making excellent espresso shots every time.

ECO Functions

The Appartamento TCA features an improved Economy (ECO) Mode. Easily prepare your machine for use by simply lifting a lever. Activating ECO Mode on the Appartamento is effortless, with a convenient on/off button located at the bottom front-right corner, near the brew lever. Once engaged, this mode automatically powers down your Rocket Appartamento after 30 minutes of inactivity.

What's Included?

The espresso machine comes equipped with two complete 58 mm portafilters, providing the flexibility to brew either a single or double shot of espresso. The metal backflush disc ensures easy cleaning and maintenance of the machine, while the included 58mm metal tamper allows for precise packing of coffee grounds. Additionally, the machine includes a plastic cup rail, a 2 hole steam tip, and a scoop for measuring the perfect amount of coffee.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • These guidelines are safe for most home espresso machines
  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Does the Rocket Espresso Appartamento TCA have a rotary pump or a vibratory pump?

The Appartamento TCA uses a vibratory pump, not a rotary pump. Vibratory pumps are common in compact home espresso machines and are reliable, but they are slightly louder than rotary pumps.

Is the Appartamento TCA reservoir-only, or can it be direct plumbed to a water line?

The Appartamento TCA is a tank‑fed machine only and cannot be directly plumbed into a water line. It has a removable water reservoir that you fill manually.

Does the Appartamento TCA offer pre‑infusion, and is it adjustable?

Yes. The Appartamento TCA offers pre‑infusion via its E61 group, which provides a mechanical pre‑infusion phase. On the TCA, the pre‑infusion profile is influenced by the selected brewing mode but is not user‑programmable in the way a full pressure‑profiling machine is.

Is the steam wand on the Appartamento TCA cool‑touch or no‑burn?

Yes. The Appartamento TCA comes with an insulated cool‑touch steam wand designed to reduce the risk of burns and to keep milk from baking onto the wand surface, making cleanup easier.

Does the Appartamento TCA have a PID temperature controller, and can I adjust brew temperature?

Yes. The Appartamento TCA includes an integrated PID temperature controller. You can adjust boiler temperature (and thus brew temperature) through the machine’s interface. Different brewing modes on the TCA use preset temperature and pressure parameters to simplify fine‑tuning.

Is the Appartamento TCA a single‑boiler machine or a heat‑exchange machine, and can I brew and steam at the same time?

The Appartamento TCA is a heat‑exchange (HX) machine with a single boiler that has separate circuits for brewing and steaming. This design allows you to brew espresso and steam milk simultaneously.

What power requirements does the Appartamento TCA have, and can I use it on a standard US household outlet?

Yes, you can use it on a standard US outlet. The Appartamento TCA runs on 110–120V, 60Hz power and typically draws around 1,200–1,400 watts. It is designed for use with a standard 15‑amp household circuit.

Does the Appartamento TCA have a built‑in shot timer or digital display for brewing information?

The Appartamento TCA does not have a traditional LCD screen, but it does use a multi‑color LED interface and control system for modes, temperature indications, and alerts. It does not include a dedicated built‑in shot timer like some larger prosumer machines; many users pair it with an external scale or timer.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
