Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

There comes a point where you stop looking for a better grinder and start looking for a more stable thermal foundation. The R58 Cinquantotto is built for the person who values precision but doesn’t want their counter to look like a laboratory, evidenced by the PID controller living on a detachable touchscreen rather than a permanent plastic cutout. It provides the kind of recovery time that keeps pace with a houseful of guests without drifting off your target temperature. This is the machine you buy when you’re done navigating the limits of smaller boilers and ready to start mastering the variables that actually matter.

Product Features

Touchscreen PID Controller

High-contrast touchscreen PID lets you set brew and steam temperatures, toggle ECO mode, change the water source, display the shot timer, and schedule the Auto On, Seven Day Programmable Timer—all from a single, easy-to-read interface. The controller is removable without losing machine functionality, making setup and placement flexible for a high-end home or prosumer counter.

Dual Boilers with PID

A true dual-boiler layout separates brew and steam circuits and includes a built-in PID for consistent boiler temperatures—critical for repeatable shot extraction and steam performance. The R58 also surfaces a shot timer in two locations (a discrete timer left of the commercial E61 group and on the PID), so you can monitor pull time without moving away from the group head.

Rapid Recovery & Steam Capacity

Designed for back-to-back drinks, the R58’s steam boiler heating element delivers up to 33% greater heating output than comparable dual boilers and the machine’s boilers are collectively up to 11% larger—translating to noticeably faster recovery and sustained steam for milk-heavy service.

Boiler Materials & Capacities

Brass/copper construction with a 1.8 L steam boiler and a 0.58 L brew boiler provides thermal mass for temperature stability and reliable extraction. The machine also ships with a 2.5 L reservoir for bench use or quick switching to a plumbed supply.

Plumbable with Included Kit

Use the R58 on its reservoir, pour-over mode, or plumb it directly to house water—switching sources from the touchscreen. Rocket includes a braided water line and silicone tubing for drip-tray drainage, so installation for plumbed use is straightforward.

No-Burn Steam & Hot-Water Wands

Stainless steel steam and hot-water wands contain Teflon tubing internally (replacing the previous silicone), reducing external heat and improving longevity during heavy milk work—useful for those who value frequent, consistent steaming.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Home users upgrading from a single-boiler or HX machine — Dual PID-controlled boilers and a rotary pump give you the thermal stability and quiet operation that entry-level gear cannot match
  • Enthusiasts who want a detachable PID display — The touchscreen controller lives on a separate unit, keeping the machine clean while giving you full temperature control
  • Home baristas hosting small groups — The 2.38L steam boiler handles 3–5 drink bursts without breaking stride

It's Right For You If:

  • You are pulling 4–15 shots daily and want the quiet confidence of a rotary pump with the option to plumb in.
  • You have counter space for a full-size E61 machine and 110-120V power available.
  • You want the option to add flow control later — aftermarket kits are available for the E61 group.

Things to Consider:

  • E61 groups need 20–30 minutes to fully stabilize — budget for a smart plug timer if morning speed matters.
  • The 0.58L brew boiler is on the smaller side for a machine with a 2.38L steam boiler — back-to-back espresso shots will see slightly longer recovery.
  • No stock pressure profiling — if profiling is a priority, consider the R Nine One or budget for an aftermarket flow control kit.

Our Take:

The R58 Cinquantotto is Rocket is proven E61 dual boiler — the detachable PID display keeps the machine looking clean while giving you full temperature control, and the rotary pump with plumb-in option means you can build a serious dedicated setup around it. If you want the E61 experience with the flexibility to add flow control later, this is a platform that grows with you.

Dual Boiler Espresso Machine

A dual boiler espresso machine is engineered with two distinct boilers: one for brewing espresso at the perfect temperature and another for generating steam to froth milk. Unlike single boiler machines that share one boiler for both tasks, dual boilers enable simultaneous brewing and steaming, ensuring consistent temperature and pressure for superior quality espresso beverages.

Shot Timer Built In

The presence of a shot timer on your espresso machine provides numerous benefits, particularly for individuals who enjoy making coffee at home. Consistency and precision are key factors in the extraction of espresso shots. By maintaining consistent timing with the help of a shot timer, you can ensure that each shot is extracted for the same duration, leading to a well-balanced and flavorful cup of coffee.

R58 touch screen

Touch Screen Controller

Attached to the left of the R58 is a new PID/touchscreen controller. From the touchscreen you can:

  • Change Steam Boiler Temperature
  • Change Brew Boiler Temperature
  • Set the 7-day programmable timer, easily copy settings from day-to-day.
  • Set the ECO mode to on/off (this feature is disabled if the 7-day programmable timer is enabled)
  • Display shot timer
  • Turn your steam boiler off if you’re not using it.
  • Turn the machine on or off.
  • Displays low water along with the shot timer, the green status light also flashes when the reservoir is removed or has low water.
  • Change the water source the machine is pulling from.

Plumbable

Thanks to its dual boiler operation, you can either direct plumb it or use its large 2.5 liter water reservoir. There's no fear of running out of water with the latter, since the Rocket espresso machine is equipped both with low water sensors and an easy to lift top cover, so you can effortlessly check on and fill the water tank.

ECO Functions

The R58 by Rocket features an improved Economy (ECO) Mode. Easily prepare your machine for use by simply lifting a lever. Activating ECO Mode on the Appartamento is effortless, with a convenient on/off button located at the bottom front-right corner, near the brew lever. Once engaged, this mode automatically powers down your machine after 30 minutes of inactivity.

PID Temperature Control

PID, an abbreviation for Proportional-Integral-Derivative, is a feedback loop controller utilized in espresso machines to regulate and maintain the water temperature within the boiler. It means you can regulate the temperature on the machine.

With PID controller espresso machines, you ensure that the water temperature remains constant and ideal for producing high-quality espresso.

Cool Touch No-Burn Steam Wands

With these revolutionary features, you can froth and steam milk without any concerns about getting burned. The cool touch technology ensures that the wand remains at a safe temperature, allowing you to focus on creating the perfect espresso drinks without any worries. Say goodbye to accidental burns and hello to a more enjoyable coffee-making process with our state-of-the-art espresso machine.

Dual Manometers

You'll find dual manometers on espresso machines for monitoring brew and steam pressure. The brew pressure gauge checks the resistance from the coffee grounds in the filter basket when the pump is running to ensure optimal extraction. Meanwhile, the steam pressure gauge on heat exchange or dual boiler machines shows the boiler's steam pressure for safety, usually rated at 2.0 bar for structural integrity.

Superb Recovery Time

Compared to other dual boiler espresso machines at the same price point, the R58 Cinquantotto is up to 33% times more powerful. Collectively, it is almost 11% larger than most in this range. So no matter the workload, you will always be able to steadily pull shots with minimal down time.

The R58 Cinquantotto is an espresso makers dream machine and this stylish well-built classic would be perfect in any aficionados home, a small office or brew station. With the new 7 day timer, your machine will be up and running right when you need it, saving you time!

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • These guidelines are safe for most home espresso machines
  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Does the Rocket Espresso R58 Cinquantotto have a rotary pump, and how loud is it compared to vibratory pump machines?

Yes. The R58 Cinquantotto uses a commercial-style rotary pump, which is significantly quieter and smoother than typical vibratory pumps. This makes it better suited for home use where noise levels matter, especially in open kitchens or early mornings.

Is the R58 Cinquantotto a dual boiler machine, and what does that mean for brewing and steaming performance?

Yes. It is a true dual boiler machine with one dedicated boiler for brewing and a separate boiler for steam and hot water. This allows you to brew espresso and steam milk at the same time with very stable temperatures and strong steam pressure, which is ideal for milk-based drinks and back-to-back beverages.

Can the R58 Cinquantotto be direct plumbed, and does it also have a water reservoir?

Yes. The R58 Cinquantotto can be used either with its built-in freshwater reservoir or as a direct-plumbed machine connected to your household water line. It includes the necessary plumbing hardware, and you can switch between tank and plumbed mode via the machine’s configuration (see the manual for installation and any water filtration requirements).

Does the Rocket R58 Cinquantotto offer pre-infusion, and is it adjustable?

Yes. The R58 Cinquantotto uses an E61 grouphead, which provides mechanical pre-infusion by design—this gently wets the coffee puck before full pressure is applied. In addition, pre-infusion time and brew temperature can be fine-tuned through the external PID control box, giving you more control over extraction.

Does the machine include cool-touch (no-burn) steam and hot water wands?

Yes. The R58 Cinquantotto comes with insulated, cool-touch steam and hot water wands. They are designed to stay cooler to the touch than traditional wands, which helps prevent burns and reduces milk from sticking to the steam wand, making cleanup easier.

What kind of power requirements does the R58 Cinquantotto have, and can I use it on a standard US household outlet?

The R58 Cinquantotto is designed for standard US electrical service. It typically runs on 120V, 60Hz with a power draw of around 1,400–1,600 watts. It can be used on a standard 15-amp grounded household outlet, but it should be on a dedicated circuit if possible to avoid tripping breakers when other high-draw appliances are used simultaneously.

How is the temperature controlled on the R58 Cinquantotto, and can I adjust brew and steam temperatures separately?

Temperature is controlled via dual PIDs—one for the brew boiler and one for the steam boiler. The external control box (touchscreen on newer Cinquantotto models) lets you independently adjust brew and steam boiler temperatures within a specific range, so you can fine-tune espresso profiles and steam performance for different coffee types and personal preferences.

What accessories are included with the R58 Cinquantotto out of the box?

Typically included are: a single and double spouted portafilter, filter baskets (single, double, and often a blind basket for backflushing), a metal tamper, a cleaning brush, a scoop, a user manual, the detachable PID control box, and for plumbable versions, a water line kit. Exact contents can vary slightly by retailer, so check the product listing for specifics.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
