Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Your café’s reputation is built during the third hour of a Saturday rush, not just the first quiet shot of the morning. The Zoe Competition is the pragmatic choice for an operator who needs a workhorse that doesn't look like a tractor, utilizing activated electronic pre-infusion to maintain shot integrity when the line is out the door. It signals to your staff and your customers that you prioritize the logic of a consistent workflow. This machine is for the business that has moved past entry-level gear and requires equipment that stays out of its own way.

Product Features

Auto Steam Option

Available Auto Steam automates steaming to produce consistent, velvety microfoam across dozens of milk drinks. Contact sales for pricing and availability to reduce training time and speed drink throughput.

Large 10-L Boiler

A 10-liter steam boiler keeps continuous steam capacity for high-volume service. Electronic auto-level technology and a level probe maintain the correct fill so barista workflow isn’t interrupted during rushes.

Activated Electronic Pre-Infusion

Activated electronic pre-infusion gently primes puck extraction to improve shot consistency under heavy use. That controlled ramp helps the team reproduce target extraction profiles from shot to shot.

Double Reading Gauge

A double reading gauge shows boiler pressure and distribution pressure simultaneously, letting technicians and lead baristas monitor system status at a glance. Real-time pressure visibility speeds troubleshooting and keeps production steady.

Automatic Group Cleaning

Built-in automatic cleaning cycles for the coffee groups cut manual maintenance time and help keep extraction consistent across busy shifts. Scheduled group cleaning reduces downtime and keeps the bar compliant with hygiene routines.

Service-Friendly Access

Fast access to internal parts simplifies routine service and repairs, lowering technical service time and costs. The Zoe’s design prioritizes easy inspection and component replacement for reliable operation under commercial loads.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • New café operators — AutoSteam automates milk texturing so your team can focus on drink assembly and customer service instead of learning manual steam technique
  • Restaurant and hospitality coffee programs — Programmable dosing and automated milk texturing reduce the skill requirement, making it practical for non-dedicated barista staff
  • Specialty food service operations — Cup warmer and AutoSteam make this a self-contained milk-drink station for bakeries and dessert shops adding espresso to their menu

Right For You If:

  • You are opening a café or adding espresso to an existing food business and your staff does not have deep barista training — AutoSteam handles the hardest part of the workflow.
  • Your menu is milk-drink-heavy and you want consistent microfoam without relying on manual steam skill across every shift.
  • You have 220–240V power and direct plumbing, and you want a machine that is ready for service with minimal setup time.

Things to Consider:

  • AutoSteam produces consistent microfoam but removes the manual control that experienced baristas use to texture milk differently for different drinks — if your menu calls for latte art or varied milk textures, manual wands give you that flexibility.
  • The 40–75 minute warm-up is typical for a large HX boiler — plan your morning routine or use a timer plug.
  • This is a medium-volume machine rated for 100–200 drinks a day — if your rush consistently pushes past that, the standard Zoe Competition or a multi-boiler machine is the better fit.

Our Take:

The Zoe Competition with AutoSteam is the pragmatic choice for operators who want Sanremo quality without requiring every barista on staff to be a steam wand expert — it removes the biggest variable in milk-drink consistency. If your café is growing and your team is still building their skills, this machine lets you serve great drinks while they learn.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Does the Sanremo Zoe Competition 2 Group have a rotary pump or a vibration pump?

The Sanremo Zoe Competition 2 Group is typically equipped with a rotary pump, which delivers stable pressure, quieter operation, and is better suited for higher-volume commercial use than a vibration pump. Always confirm pump type with the specific seller, as configurations can vary by market or build date.

Is this machine direct-plumbed only, or can it also use a water tank?

The Zoe Competition 2 Group is designed as a plumb-in commercial machine. It connects directly to your water line and does not normally include an onboard water tank. Adequate water filtration and pressure regulation are recommended for installation.

Does the Zoe Competition 2 Group support pre-infusion, and is it adjustable?

Yes. The Zoe Competition line includes a pre-infusion feature that gently soaks the coffee puck before full pressure extraction to help improve consistency and flavor. On most configurations, pre-infusion is programmable via the control panel, but the level of adjustability (time and/or pressure) can differ slightly by model year and region.

Does it include cool-touch (no-burn) steam wands and how many steam arms does it have?

The Competition version of the Zoe comes with cool-touch or ‘no-burn’ steam wands, which stay cooler to the touch and reduce milk build-up. As a 2-group machine, it usually includes two independent steam wands plus a dedicated hot water tap, though exact layout can vary slightly by configuration.

What kind of boiler system does it use and what is the boiler capacity?

The Sanremo Zoe Competition 2 Group uses a heat-exchanger boiler system, allowing you to brew espresso and steam milk at the same time. The main boiler is typically in the 8–12 liter range (often around 10–11 liters) for the 2-group version, providing enough capacity for busy cafés. Check the spec sheet from your US distributor for the exact liter rating of your chosen configuration.

Is the cup warmer actively heated or just a passive cup tray?

The Zoe Competition 2 Group with cup warmer generally has an actively heated cup-warming surface, using the machine’s heat to maintain cups at serving temperature rather than relying solely on passive warmth. This helps improve temperature stability when serving multiple drinks. Some regions list this as an optional feature, so confirm with your supplier that the active cup warmer is included.

Does the AutoSteam function fully automate milk frothing, and can I still steam manually?

The AutoSteam feature uses a programmed cycle to automatically texture milk to a set temperature and consistency, making it easier for less-experienced baristas to produce consistent microfoam. You can still steam manually using the steam valve and wand like a traditional commercial machine, giving you both automated and manual control options.

Is the Zoe Competition 2 Group suitable for a high-volume café, and what is its typical daily capacity?

Yes. The Zoe Competition 2 Group is designed for daily commercial service and is generally suitable for small- to mid-sized cafés, coffee bars, and restaurants. While exact “daily capacity” depends on your workflow, grind, and barista speed, it can comfortably handle hundreds of shots per day when properly maintained and paired with an appropriate commercial grinder.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
