Your espresso machine is the most visible indicator of your standards, and it should act like it. The Zoe Competition manages the heavy lifting of a busy shift, using activated electronic pre-infusion to ensure extractions stay consistent even when the bar gets crowded. It’s a reliable, service-friendly workhorse designed to keep your technician happy and your baristas fast. This is for the space where "good enough" isn't an option for the morning rush.
Product Features
Large Steam Boiler
A large boiler capacity (listed at 10 liters in the product description) combined with a 2.7 kW steam boiler power delivers sustained steam recovery for continuous milk service. This keeps steam pressure stable across long shifts and back-to-back drinks.
Electronic Auto-Level
The Zoe uses electronic auto-level technology with an electronic level probe to automatically fill and maintain the boiler at the correct level. That means steady steam and fewer interruptions to a barista’s workflow during peak service.
Activated Electronic Pre-Infusion
Activated electronic pre-infusion gently wets the puck before full pressure is applied, improving extraction consistency from shot to shot. For busy cafes this helps maintain cup quality while operators dial grinders and dosing for different blends.
Double Reading Gauge
The double reading gauge displays both boiler pressure and distribution pressure simultaneously, giving baristas and technicians real-time visibility into the machine’s operating conditions. Quick access to these readouts makes troubleshooting and tuning faster during service.
Automatic Group Cleaning
An automatic cleaning cycle for the groups keeps the brewing circuits maintained with less manual labor and lower downtime between shifts. Regular automated cleaning helps preserve shot quality and reduces the burden on staff during busy periods.
Service-Friendly Design
The Zoe’s all-in-one single-skin design and fast access to internal parts make technical service straightforward and reduce repair time and costs. Panels are also customizable and the compact footprint fits tight bars without sacrificing maintainability.
The Coffeeionado Take
Who's It For:
New café operators — Heat exchanger reliability with Sanremo proprietary group heads and volumetric dosing give you commercial-grade output without the complexity of a multi-boiler system
Restaurant and hospitality coffee programs — Automatic programmable dosing and intuitive controls mean rotating staff can produce consistent drinks with minimal training
Medium-volume specialty cafés — The 10L boiler and electronic pre-infusion provide the thermal mass and extraction control needed for sustained 150–250 drink days
Right For You If:
You are opening your first café or upgrading from a single-group and need reliable two-group throughput with consistent extraction.
Your service model depends on volumetric dosing to keep shots consistent across baristas at different skill levels.
You have 220–240V power and direct plumbing, and you want a machine that technicians love to service.
Things to Consider:
The 40–75 minute warm-up is the tradeoff for a large boiler with serious thermal mass — use a timer plug to have it ready when you arrive.
No auto-steam option on this model — your baristas need to be comfortable with manual milk texturing, or you will spend time on training.
The Sanremo proprietary group head is excellent for consistency but means parts and service depend on your Sanremo distributor relationship.
Our Take:
The Zoe Competition is the Sanremo for operators who want the brand's engineering without paying for features they do not need — it is reliable, easy for technicians to service, and punches above its price point. If your café has moved past startup mode and you need equipment that stays out of its own way, this is the machine that lets the coffee do the talking.

Heat Exchanger 9 Liter Boiler
This 10-liter commercial espresso machine with a heat exchange boiler is a high-powered and efficient coffee-making tool specifically designed for professional use in cafes, restaurants, and other commercial environments. Here are the key features:
Boiler Capacity: The 9-liter boiler offers plenty of space for making multiple espresso shots and steaming milk at the same time. Heat exchange machines utilize a single boiler to handle both brewing and steaming tasks.
Heat Exchange: In contrast to dual boiler machines that have separate boilers for brewing and steaming, heat exchange machines employ a single boiler with a heat exchange tube. This tube allows hot water from the boiler to heat the brewing water as it flows through, ensuring consistent brewing temperature.
Simultaneous Brewing and Steaming: Thanks to the heat exchange system, baristas can brew espresso shots while simultaneously frothing milk for lattes or cappuccinos. This simultaneous operation is essential during peak hours in a commercial setting.
Temperature Control: Heat exchange machines maintain steady water temperature for brewing purposes. The boiler remains at steaming temperature, while the heat exchange tube ensures that the brewing water is heated as needed.
Thermostability
Exclusively designed by Sanremo, the grouphead is manufactured from AISI 316 Stainless Steel. This ensures highly accurate thermal stability and maximum resistance to oxidation and lime scale in the group.
Barista Friendly System
This commercial espresso machine includes a cup warmer which features a dedicated resistor to keep all the cups at the optimal temperature. Also included are barista lights so that you can work in a well-lit environment and even a built-in shot timer.
Double Gauge
The double reading gauge on the espresso machine provides a convenient way to monitor both the boiler pressure and water distribution pressure simultaneously. This feature gives baristas precise control over the key elements of their espresso-making process, ensuring that each shot is brewed with consistent quality.
Sanremo Zoe Cup Clearance
The standard espresso machine features a cup clearance of 3.5 inches. The Zoe Tall cup version is built with a cup clearance of 5.5 inches.
By being able to adjust both pressures as needed, baristas can fine-tune their technique and achieve optimal results with each extraction. This level of control ultimately leads to a better tasting and more consistent cup of espresso for customers.
Temperature Stability
The coffee boiler is equipped with a sophisticated temperature control system that ensures its stability by applying the machine’s memory of use and modifying the parameters according to forecasts based on the available information.

Water Quality & Machine Protection
Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.
Parameter
Ideal Range
Why It Matters
Total Hardness
50-170 ppm
Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level
6.5-7.5
Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine
0 ppm
Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion

Important Note
Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.
Advisory
Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.
What This Means
Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
Improper water can damage internal components over time
Machine-Specific Considerations
Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides
Is the Sanremo Zoe Competition 2 Group an automatic volumetric machine or semi-automatic, and how are shots programmed?
The Sanremo Zoe Competition 2 Group is a fully automatic (volumetric) commercial espresso machine. Each group has programmable dose buttons that let you set specific shot volumes (e.g., single, double, long shots). Once programmed, you simply press the button and the machine automatically stops the extraction at the preset volume, ensuring consistent shots during service. It can also be operated in manual mode if you wish to control shot time yourself.
Does the Zoe Competition 2 Group have a rotary pump and what kind of water supply does it require?
Yes, the Zoe Competition series uses a commercial-grade rotary pump designed for continuous, high-volume use. The machine is plumb-in only and must be connected to a direct water line; it does not have an internal reservoir. Proper water filtration and pressure (typically around 2–3 bar / 30–45 psi) are recommended for optimal performance and to maintain the warranty.
Is this machine a heat-exchanger or multi-boiler design, and can it brew and steam at the same time?
The Sanremo Zoe Competition 2 Group is a heat-exchanger (HX) machine with a large single boiler and heat-exchanger circuits feeding each group. This design allows you to brew espresso and steam milk simultaneously without loss of performance. The HX system maintains brew water at espresso temperature while the main boiler stays at steam pressure, making it suitable for busy cafés and restaurants.
Does the Zoe Competition 2 Group include pre-infusion, and is it adjustable?
Yes, the Zoe Competition 2 Group offers pre-infusion to help improve extraction consistency and reduce channeling. Depending on the specific configuration and firmware, pre-infusion is usually managed electronically through the volumetric programming and uses line pressure or pump-controlled pressure at the start of the shot. Some distributors can customize or fine-tune pre-infusion parameters during installation, but deep pre-infusion adjustment is not as granular as on high-end multi-boiler competition machines.
Does this model include cool-touch or no-burn steam wands, and how many steam wands does it have?
Most current Zoe Competition 2 Group configurations for the US market come with two insulated ‘cool-touch’ or reduced-temperature steam wands, designed to minimize the risk of burns and make milk residue easier to clean. However, exact wand spec can vary by importer or configuration. If cool-touch wands are critical for you, confirm with the seller that you’re ordering the cool-touch version, as Sanremo has offered both traditional and cool-touch wand options in some regions.
What is the boiler size on the Zoe Competition 2 Group and is it powerful enough for high-volume service?
The Zoe Competition 2 Group typically features a large single boiler in the 10–12 liter range (exact volume can vary slightly by production run and market). Coupled with a high-wattage heating element, it is designed for busy commercial environments such as cafés, coffee bars, and restaurants. It can comfortably handle continuous espresso production and heavy milk steaming during rush periods, provided it is installed on a dedicated electrical circuit that meets the manufacturer’s specifications.
What power and electrical requirements does the Sanremo Zoe Competition 2 Group have in the US?
US-spec Zoe Competition 2 Group machines are usually configured for 220–240V, 50/60 Hz, and require a dedicated circuit (often 20–30 amps, depending on exact configuration and local code). It is a hard-wired commercial appliance, not a standard 120V plug-in machine. Buyers should review the technical sheet for the exact model they are ordering and have a licensed electrician provide the correct outlet and breaker before installation.
Is there a built-in shot timer, pressure gauge, and PID temperature control on this machine?
The Zoe Competition 2 Group is equipped with brew and boiler pressure gauges for at-a-glance system monitoring. Many Zoe Competition variants also include a built-in shot timer and electronic temperature management, though it is not a true independent PID multi-boiler system. Boiler temperature is electronically controlled and stable enough for commercial use, but you won’t get the same fine-grained per-group temperature profiling as on Sanremo’s higher-end competition machines.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.
At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.
Which Machines Qualify
Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.
If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.
What's Included
Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself
Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.
How Installation Is Arranged
Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:
Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.
Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.
We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.
What's Not Included
The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:
Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation
Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.
Water Filtration Requirement
Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.
If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.
Service Area
Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.
Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.
After Installation
Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.
Governing Terms
This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.
Can I pick up the machine at your store?
We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.
However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
