Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

A three-group machine is a commitment to a pace that never lets up. This is the anchor for a high-volume program where the reputation of the café depends on the consistency of the hundredth shot as much as the first. The activated electronic pre-infusion manages the technicalities of the extraction, allowing your team to focus on the queue without drifting from your roast profile. It is time to get the morning shift moving.

Product Features

High-Capacity Steam Boiler

A large steam boiler (12.5 lt) paired with 5.1 kW of steam power delivers rapid recovery for continuous milk service. That capacity and power help maintain steam pressure across heavy shifts so textured-milk orders keep moving.

Electronic Auto-Level Boiler

The boiler is automatically filled and maintained to the right filling level via the electronic level probe. That electronic auto-level technology keeps steam and brewing capacity consistent during peak service so baristas don't have to stop and top off the boiler.

Activated Electronic Pre-Infusion

The Zoe Competition features activated electronic pre-infusion to stabilize flow at the start of extraction. That controlled pre-wetting improves shot consistency across back-to-back pulls, reducing variability during rush periods.

Double Reading Gauge

A double reading gauge lets you monitor boiler pressure and distribution (pump) pressure at the same time. Having both pressures visible gives operators faster, actionable feedback for dialing in extraction and balancing steam performance under load.

Service-Friendly Access

The machine provides fast access to internal parts, making technical service straightforward and less time-consuming. Easier access lowers service costs and shortens downtime — an important operational win for busy cafés.

Automatic Group Cleaning Cycle

An automatic cleaning cycle handles coffee group cleaning on schedule, simplifying maintenance tasks for staff. Built-in group cleaning reduces manual effort and helps keep group heads consistent and hygienic during high-volume service.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Specialty cafés focused on extraction quality — Electronic pre-infusion and Sanremo's proprietary group heads give baristas more control over shot character than standard HX machines
  • Coffee bars and restaurants in the 200–500 daily range — Three-group capacity with automatic cleaning cycles keeps throughput high and maintenance manageable
  • Operators who want Sanremo engineering at a competitive price point — The Zoe Competition delivers Sanremo's group head technology and Italian build without the premium of their multi-boiler lines

Right For You If:

  • Your daily shot count is 200–500 and you want electronic pre-infusion to improve shot quality without stepping up to a multi-boiler system.
  • You have a direct water line and 220V power (NEMA 6-30) — this machine draws significant power during peak service.
  • Your baristas are comfortable with volumetric controls and basic extraction adjustment — this machine rewards a bit of technique without demanding expert-level skill.

Things to Consider:

  • Heat exchanger architecture shares one boiler across all three groups — reliable for medium and dark roasts, but temperature management for light roasts requires more attention than independent boiler setups.
  • The automatic cleaning cycle is a real operational benefit, but the copper boiler still needs proper water filtration and periodic descaling to maintain performance long-term.
  • Sanremo proprietary group heads mean service and parts may have longer lead times than more common E61-based machines — confirm your local service network supports Sanremo before buying.

Our Take:

The Zoe Competition brings Sanremo's group head engineering and electronic pre-infusion to a price point that makes sense for independent cafés — you get real extraction control benefits without jumping to a multi-boiler investment. If your baristas care about shot quality and your volume is in the 300–500 range, this machine punches above its weight.

Automatic Espresso Machine

Automatic espresso machines have revolutionized the way baristas operate in coffee shops, allowing them to focus on other tasks while still producing high-quality espressos. With programmable doses, baristas can set specific measurements for each shot of espresso, ensuring consistency and efficiency in the brewing process. This feature not only helps save time but also maintains the quality and flavor of the final product. Meanwhile, they can also focus on other tasks such as taking money, steaming milk, or other work tasks.

Easy Maintenance

These machines are built to have easy and fast access to internal parts which makes technical service easy.

Heat Exchanger 12.5 Liter Boiler

This 10-liter commercial espresso machine with a heat exchange boiler is a high-powered and efficient coffee-making tool specifically designed for professional use in cafes, restaurants, and other commercial environments. Here are the key features:

  • Boiler Capacity: The 12.5-liter boiler offers plenty of space for making multiple espresso shots and steaming milk at the same time. Heat exchange machines utilize a single boiler to handle both brewing and steaming tasks.
  • Heat Exchange: In contrast to dual boiler machines that have separate boilers for brewing and steaming, heat exchange machines employ a single boiler with a heat exchange tube. This tube allows hot water from the boiler to heat the brewing water as it flows through, ensuring consistent brewing temperature.
  • Simultaneous Brewing and Steaming: Thanks to the heat exchange system, baristas can brew espresso shots while simultaneously frothing milk for lattes or cappuccinos. This simultaneous operation is essential during peak hours in a commercial setting.
  • Temperature Control: Heat exchange machines maintain steady water temperature for brewing purposes. The boiler remains at steaming temperature, while the heat exchange tube ensures that the brewing water is heated as needed.

Thermostability

Exclusively designed by Sanremo, the grouphead is manufactured from AISI 316 Stainless Steel. This, coupled with the multi-boiler system, ensures highly accurate thermal stability and maximum resistance to oxidation and lime scale in the group.

Barista Friendly System

This commercial espresso machine includes a cup warmer which features a dedicated resistor to keep all the cups at the optimal temperature. Also included arebarista lights so that you can work in a well-lit environment and even abuilt-in shot timer.

Double Reading Gauge

The double reading gauge on the espresso machine provides a convenient way to monitor both the boiler pressure and water distribution pressure simultaneously. This feature gives baristas precise control over the key elements of their espresso-making process, ensuring that each shot is brewed with consistent quality.

Sanremo Zoe Cup Clearance

The standard espresso machine features a cup clearance of 3.5 inches. The Zoe Tall cup version is built with a cup clearance of 5.5 inches.

By being able to adjust both pressures as needed, baristas can fine-tune their technique and achieve optimal results with each extraction. This level of control ultimately leads to a better tasting and more consistent cup of espresso for customers.

Temperature Stability

The coffee boiler is equipped with a sophisticated temperature control system that ensures its stability by applying the machine’s memory of use and modifying the parameters according to forecasts based on the available information.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • These guidelines are safe for most home espresso machines
  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Is the Sanremo Zoe Competition 3 Group a heat-exchanger or dual-boiler espresso machine?

The Sanremo Zoe Competition 3 Group is a heat-exchanger machine. Each group head is served by a heat-exchanger circuit off the main boiler, allowing you to brew espresso and steam milk simultaneously with stable temperatures suitable for high-volume service.

Does the Zoe Competition 3 Group have a rotary pump and what is the required water connection?

Yes, the Zoe Competition uses a rotary vane pump designed for commercial duty. It is a direct-plumbed machine that must be hard-plumbed to your water line with the appropriate pressure and filtration; it does not have an internal water reservoir.

Does this machine offer programmable volumetric dosing and automatic shot stop?

Yes. The 3-group Zoe Competition is an automatic (volumetric) machine. Each group head has programmable dose buttons that allow you to set shot volumes (e.g., single and double) so the machine automatically stops the extraction once the programmed volume is reached, improving consistency and speed.

Does the Zoe Competition 3 Group have pre-infusion or soft infusion features?

The Zoe Competition line includes a pre-infusion function designed to gently saturate the coffee puck before full pressure is applied. This helps improve extraction consistency and can reduce channeling, especially useful in a busy café setting.

Are the steam wands cool-touch or no-burn, and how many steam wands does it have?

The Zoe Competition 3 Group is typically equipped with two high-capacity steam wands. On most current US configurations, the wands are cool-touch or no-burn style, meaning the external surface does not get as hot as traditional wands and milk is less likely to stick, making them safer and easier to clean. Always confirm the exact wand spec with the distributor, as configurations can vary.

What power requirements does the Sanremo Zoe Competition 3 Group have for US installations?

The 3-group Zoe Competition is a commercial machine and generally requires a dedicated 220–240V circuit (often 30A or higher, depending on the exact boiler and element configuration). It must be hard-wired or plugged according to local electrical codes. Check the nameplate or spec sheet from your US distributor and consult a licensed electrician before installation.

What is the boiler capacity on the 3-group model and is the steam capacity sufficient for busy shops?

The Zoe Competition 3 Group is built with a large-capacity steam boiler (typically in the 11–14 liter range, depending on the version), engineered for high steam output. In practice, this provides ample steam capacity for continuous milk steaming in busy cafés, drive-thrus, or restaurants during peak periods.

Does the Zoe Competition support tall cups and to-go drinks, or is it limited to standard espresso cups?

Yes. The Zoe Competition chassis and raised group configuration on many models allow you to fit standard to-go cups directly under the group heads. If you work mainly with tall cups, confirm the exact cup-clearance measurement with your reseller, as it can vary slightly between trim levels.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
