Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

Moving to a serious setup is the moment you stop managing the limitations of your hardware and start managing the nuances of your coffee. The addition of an embedded grouphead element ensures the temperature you set is actually the temperature that hits the puck, removing the thermal guesswork from light roast extractions. You have reached the stage where your technique deserves a machine that can actually keep up with it. It is time to stop waiting for your boiler to catch up and start focusing on the dial-in.

Product Features

Simultaneous Extraction & Steam

Because brew and steam circuits are independent, you can pull a shot and texture milk at the same time — no switching modes, no waiting for the boiler to catch up. For a home machine, that eliminates nearly all the workflow friction that single-boiler setups require during a morning routine.

Dual Boilers With Independent PIDs

Two separate stainless steel boilers — 0.3 L for brew, 0.95 L for steam — each controlled by its own PID. Setting your brew temperature to 200°F has no effect on steam pressure, and vice versa. That isolation is what separates true dual boiler performance from the temperature-surfing routine that heat-exchanger machines require.

9-Bar OPV-Controlled Extraction

The over-pressure valve limits extraction to 9 bar regardless of pump output, delivering consistent pressure across every shot without manual adjustment. A front-mounted pressure gauge and built-in shot timer give you the real-time feedback to identify and correct extraction problems directly.

Programmable Pre-Infusion

A 15-bar Italian pump pulses at low pressure before full extraction begins, evenly saturating the puck before it meets full pressure. Both pre-infusion time and power are user-adjustable — so you can tune the setting to your grind and roast rather than accepting a fixed factory default.

Electronically Heated 58mm Brew Group

An embedded heating element keeps the 58mm grouphead at extraction temperature between shots — no warm-up flush needed before pulling. The 58mm sizing accepts standard commercial portafilters and the machine ships with single, double, and pressurized baskets, a tamper, frothing pitcher, Razor Dosing tool, and cleaning kit.

Adjustable Steam Temperature

Steam boiler temperature is user-adjustable from 265°F to 285°F, letting you dial in the steam pressure and velocity that produces your preferred milk texture — stiffer froth for cappuccinos or flat microfoam for latte art. The 360° swivel steam wand gives full range of motion across pitcher sizes.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Home users upgrading from entry-level espresso — The dual PID and embedded grouphead element finally give you the temperature stability your single-boiler could never deliver
  • Daily home espresso drinkers pulling 2–4 drinks — Simultaneous brew and steam means your morning latte routine takes half the time
  • Enthusiasts dialing in light roasts — Programmable brew temp and soft infusion let you chase extraction precision without a 3K+ investment

It's Right For You If:

  • You are pulling 2–10 shots a day and want every one consistent without managing cooling flushes or temp surfing.
  • You have got or are buying a capable 58mm-compatible grinder — this machine rewards good burrs.
  • Your counter has room for a compact dual-boiler and you are working with standard 110-120V power.

Things to Consider:

  • The vibration pump is quieter than a rotary but will not support plumbing in — reservoir-only means occasional refills during heavier use.
  • Warm-up takes 15–25 minutes; put it on a smart plug if you want it ready when you wake up.
  • The 0.3L brew boiler handles home volume fine, but if you regularly host groups of 6+, a machine with a larger brew boiler will recover faster.

Our Take:

The Breville Dual Boiler is the most approachable serious dual-boiler on the market — it gives you real temperature control and simultaneous steam without the footprint or price of an E61 machine. If you are stepping up from a Bambino or a Gaggia Classic and want a machine that will keep pace with your improving technique for years, this is where we would point you.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • These guidelines are safe for most home espresso machines
  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Can I brew and steam at the same time on the Dual Boiler?

Yes — that's the whole point of the dual boiler design. You have separate boilers for brewing and steaming, so you can do both simultaneously without any temperature compromise.

Does it have PID temperature control?

Yes, both boilers are PID-controlled, and you can adjust the brew temperature independently. That's a big deal for dialing in light roasts vs. dark roasts.

What size portafilter does it use?

It uses a 58mm portafilter — the commercial standard size. That opens up a huge world of compatible baskets and accessories.

Does it have pre-infusion?

Yes, the Dual Boiler has programmable pre-infusion, so you can set a low-pressure soak before full extraction kicks in.

How long does it take to heat up?

About 18 minutes from cold. Both boilers need to come up to temperature and stabilize for the best results.

How many drinks can it handle per day?

Breville rates it for roughly 15–25 drinks per day. It's built for serious home use or a small office, not a commercial café.

Can it be plumbed into a water line?

No, it's reservoir-fed with a 2.5L tank. It runs on a standard NEMA 5-15 outlet at 110–120V.

Will it fit under kitchen cabinets?

At 14.9 inches tall, it fits under most standard cabinets. The water reservoir is removable from the top, so you'll need a little clearance to refill.

How does free installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
