# Fiamma Caravel CV 1 Group Volumetric

## The Single-Group Machine That Keeps Pace Without Sacrificing Shot Quality

You're losing money every time a barista stands idle waiting for the group to cool, or worse—every time inconsistent extraction forces you to remake a drink. The Fiamma Caravel CV 1 Group Volumetric eliminates both problems. This single-group machine combines Italian engineering with volumetric dosing technology, delivering 25–30 consistent shots per hour while cutting prep time between drinks to seconds. For specialty cafés, small roasteries, and high-volume espresso bars with limited counter space, it's the difference between profitability and frustration.

## Volumetric Precision Meets Thermal Stability

The Caravel's volumetric system measures espresso by liquid volume rather than time, removing the guesswork that plagues manual lever machines. Set your dose once—the machine repeats it identically on every button press. This consistency matters: fewer remakes, faster staff training, and predictable costs per shot.

Fiamma engineered the Caravel with a heat exchanger group head that maintains stable water temperature across back-to-back extractions. You won't see temperature fluctuations that degrade crema or body. The single group, combined with responsive heating elements, means minimal temperature surfing and faster warm-up times compared to larger multi-group competitors.

## Workflow That Compounds Savings

A single volumetric shot takes roughly 30 seconds from button to cup (including purge and delivery). Repeat that 50 times a day—the standard for a busy single-group setup—and you're moving 25 hours of manual timing work off your barista's shoulders each month. That's freed labor for steaming milk, customer interaction, or simply reducing fatigue during peak service.

The Caravel's compact footprint fits tight espresso bars and roastery retail spaces where a three-group machine would demand square footage you don't have. Real estate savings plus labor efficiency compound into a faster payback than machines that look impressive but don't earn their counter space.

## Built for Daily Commercial Use

Fiamma is an Italian manufacturer with over 40 years of espresso machine design. The Caravel CV 1 is constructed from commercial-grade stainless steel and brass, with a modular design that allows field technicians to service or replace components without replacing the entire machine. The boiler is sized for sustained use—it won't struggle during morning rushes or back-to-back catering pulls.

## Warranty, Support & Peace of Mind

As an authorized Coffeeionado dealer, we back every commercial Fiamma machine with **24 months of parts coverage** and lifetime technical support. Whether you're in Portland or Miami, our nationwide network of certified technicians ensures repairs happen fast—not weeks. We stock common replacement components, and our team can troubleshoot remotely before a technician arrives.

## A Single-Group Machine That Works as Hard as You Do

The Caravel CV 1 isn't a compromise machine—it's a precision tool designed for cafés that prioritize consistency and efficiency over raw throughput. If you're serving 150–200 espresso drinks daily in a space-constrained environment, this machine pays for itself through labor savings and reduced waste.

Compact Machine

The small footprint of the Caravel CV 1 Group espresso machine means you don't have to cramp your space to get a full-feature espresso machine to fit.

Automatic Espresso Machine

Automatic espresso machines have revolutionized the way baristas operate in coffee shops, allowing them to focus on other tasks while still producing high-quality espressos. With programmable doses, you can set specific measurements for each shot of espresso, ensuring consistency and efficiency in the brewing process. This feature not only helps save time but also maintains the quality and flavor of the final product. Meanwhile, they can also focus on other tasks such as taking money, steaming milk, or other work tasks.

Volumetric Controls

Volumetric espresso machines with automated features offer a great solution for coffee shops and home users alike. From easy-to-use programmable features, to increased consistency in every cup of espresso, these machines make brewing the perfect cup easier than ever before. When using espresso machines with volumetric pumps, you benefit from their precision. These pumps guarantee accurate water-to-coffee ratios, a key factor in making great espresso.

Caravel 1CV

Dual Manometers

You'll find dual manometers on espresso machines for monitoring brew and steam pressure. The brew pressure gauge checks the resistance from the coffee grounds in the filter basket when the pump is running to ensure optimal extraction. Meanwhile, the steam pressure gauge on heat exchange or dual boiler machines shows the boiler's steam pressure for safety, usually rated at 2.0 bar for structural integrity.

Cool Touch Wands

With these revolutionary features, you can froth and steam milk without any concerns about getting burned. The cool touch technology ensures that the wand remains at a safe temperature, allowing you to focus on creating the perfect espresso drinks without any worries. Say goodbye to accidental burns and hello to a more enjoyable coffee-making process with our state-of-the-art espresso machine.

Thermostability

The Caravel units are equipped with thermal stability to the coffee groups which ensure a constant temperature and pre-infusion of the coffee grounds which allows for consistent, balanced shots of coffee.

5L Copper Boiler

Copper boilers in espresso machines offer exceptional heat conductivity, ensuring rapid heating and faster recovery times for a quicker startup. Maintaining optimal brewing temperatures is essential for consistently good espresso, and copper's ability to uphold steady temperatures contributes to a consistent brew quality. Additionally, copper's natural antimicrobial properties make it a hygienic choice for espresso machines by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms.

Programmable Doses

Set single, double, long and long double espresso doses to perfectly repeat your favorite recipes. At the touch of a button you can extract your programmed shot. Let your baristas concentrate on other tasks while the espresso maker automatically pulls your shots.

Fiamma Caravel CV

Tall Cup Clearance

The Caravel CV machine is designed to accommodate brewing directly into to-go cups, making it perfect for busy coffee shops and cafes. Additionally, the machine features a raised grate for glasses or smaller cups. This combination of convenience and sophistication makes the espresso machine a versatile and practical choice for any establishment looking to serve high-quality coffee beverages.

Rotary Pump for Quieter Operations

Rotary pump espresso machines offer many advantages, especially for home usage. Its low noise level is a key benefit, ensuring a quieter espresso experience. Rotary pumps have a longer lifespan of approximately 15 years, making them a reliable option for long-term use and reducing the need for frequent replacements. Additionally, they provide more consistent pressure and achieve quick pressure buildup compared to vibratory pump.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

Does the Fiamma Caravel CV 1 have a rotary pump or a vibratory pump?

The Fiamma Caravel CV 1 is equipped with a commercial-grade rotary pump, which provides consistent pressure, allows for stable extractions, and is quieter than typical vibratory pumps. Rotary pumps are also well suited for plumbed-in installations in commercial or prosumer settings.

Does this machine offer programmable volumetric dosing for shots?

Yes. The Caravel CV 1 is a volumetric espresso machine, meaning you can program specific shot volumes (such as single and double espresso) so the machine automatically stops the extraction at the set volume. This improves shot consistency across multiple baristas and busy service periods.

Is there a pre-infusion function, and can it be adjusted?

The Caravel CV 1 includes a pre-infusion stage that gently wets the coffee puck before full pressure is applied, helping to improve extraction and reduce channeling. Depending on the exact configuration, pre-infusion time can typically be adjusted by a technician through the control board or pressure settings.

Is the Fiamma Caravel CV 1 a direct-plumb machine, or can it use a water tank?

The Caravel CV 1 is designed primarily as a direct-plumbed commercial espresso machine. It connects directly to your water line for a continuous water supply. It does not typically include an internal pour-over water tank, so a plumbed-in connection and proper filtration are recommended for installation.

What size boiler does the Caravel CV 1 use, and is it a heat-exchanger or dual-boiler system?

The Fiamma Caravel CV 1 uses a single large copper heat-exchanger (HX) boiler designed for simultaneous brewing and steaming. The boiler size is typically in the range of 4–6 liters (depending on the exact model revision), giving it enough capacity for small cafés, food trucks, and high-end home or office setups. It is not a dual-boiler machine; brewing water passes through the heat exchanger inside the steam boiler.

Does the machine include cool-touch (no-burn) steam wands?

Most recent Caravel CV 1 configurations ship with insulated, cool-touch steam wands that stay significantly cooler to the touch compared to traditional wands and reduce milk buildup. However, because specs can vary by importer or production year, it’s best to confirm with the seller whether the specific unit includes cool-touch or standard wands.

What kind of power and outlet does the Fiamma Caravel CV 1 require in the U.S.?

In the U.S., the Caravel CV 1 is commonly configured for 220–240V, 50/60 Hz, and typically requires a dedicated 20A (or higher, depending on rating) circuit. It does not run on a standard 110–120V kitchen outlet. Always check the data plate and local electrical code, and have a licensed electrician confirm wiring and receptacle type before installation.

Is this machine suitable for a small café or only for home use?

The Caravel CV 1 is a commercial-grade, 1-group espresso machine designed for light to medium commercial use, such as small cafés, coffee carts, food trucks, restaurants, and offices. It can also be used in a serious home or prosumer setup, but it is built to withstand daily service and higher volume than typical home machines.

How does free installation work?

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
