Powering Hundreds of Businesses Including:

A busy morning shift is no time to be juggling shot glasses because a machine lacks the clearance for a standard takeaway cup. The S9 TA is built for the operator who prioritizes a steady workflow and relies on the 10L copper-brass boiler to maintain thermal stability through a sustained rush. It's a pragmatic choice for a space where the equipment is expected to be as reliable as the person behind the counter. This is how you stabilize your output and your reputation at the same time.

Product Features

Per-Group Temperature Control

DSP electronics give each of the two groups its own PID-regulated brew temperature off the shared 10L heat-exchange boiler, so a light roast and a dark roast can run side-by-side, each dialed to its own ideal extraction temperature.

Electronic Dose Setting

Electronic coffee machine with automatic dose setting delivers consistent, repeatable shot volumes so baristas can maintain pace without manual timing. Automating dose control reduces waste and keeps extraction stable across busy service periods.

Tall Cup Clearance

160mm (6.3") of grouphead clearance lets you pull shots directly into large mugs and tall to-go cups without splashing or removing the drip tray — eliminating a daily bottleneck for takeaway-heavy service.

10 L Copper–Brass Boiler

The 10 L boiler made from Copper, Brass provides substantial thermal mass for steady steam pressure and quick recovery between steaming and extraction cycles. That boiler capacity helps maintain temperature stability under continuous use.

Boiler & Pump Pressure Gauges

Built-in pressure gauge for boiler pressure control and pressure gauge for pump pressure control give technicians and baristas direct visibility into operating pressures. Real-time gauges simplify diagnostics, routine tuning, and consistent extraction shot-to-shot.

ETL & NSF Approvals

ETL & NSF Approvals mean the machine meets common safety and sanitation standards required in commercial foodservice environments. Certification helps streamline inspections and supports compliant café installations.

The Coffeeionado Take

Who's It For:

  • Café operators with takeaway-heavy service models — Tall group design brews directly into large mugs and travel cups, eliminating pour steps that slow your morning rush
  • Medium-to-high volume coffee programs — The 10L copper-brass boiler maintains thermal stability through sustained 100-250 shot daily service without drift
  • Operators who want reliable volumetric controls — Programmable dosing ensures consistent extraction across different baristas and shifts without constant supervision

Right For You If:

  • Your workflow depends on brewing directly into takeaway cups and the extra clearance eliminates a daily bottleneck.
  • Your daily volume is 100-250 shots and you need a machine that holds temperature through the morning rush without recovery lag.
  • You want programmable volumetrics so your baristas can focus on service rather than manually timing every shot.

Things to Consider:

  • The 53mm portafilter is La Spaziale proprietary — you'll need their compatible baskets, not standard 58mm accessories.
  • If your peak service consistently pushes past 350 shots daily, a larger boiler or three-group machine will handle the sustained load more comfortably.
  • At 40-75 minutes warm-up, a timer switch is a worthwhile investment — have the machine ready before your baristas arrive.

Our Take:

The S9 TA is built for operators who need tall cup clearance without sacrificing thermal stability — the 10L copper-brass boiler keeps up with back-to-back takeaway orders all morning. If your customers walk out with large cups and your baristas need a machine that doesn't flinch under pressure, this is the one.

Water Filtration Notice

Failure to properly use a water filtration system will void any manufacturer's warranty. Water contains varying levels of hardness that not only affect the performance and life of the machine but also the quality of coffee; which is why we recommend the Mavea Purity C filtration system to properly protect your machine from scaling and build-up.

Water Quality & Machine Protection

Proper water quality is essential for optimal espresso extraction and long-term machine health. Use the guidelines below to ensure your machine performs at its best.

Parameter Ideal Range Why It Matters
Total Hardness 50-170 ppm Prevents scale buildup while maintaining flavor
pH Level 6.5-7.5 Ensures balanced extraction and protects internal components
Chlorine 0 ppm Eliminates off-flavors and prevents corrosion
TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 70-150 ppm Optimal mineral content for extraction and taste
Total Alkalinity ~7.0 Stabilizes acidity and extraction
Chloride 0-28 ppm Prevents corrosion (especially in steel boilers)

Important Note

Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.

Advisory

Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.

What This Means

  • Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
  • Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
  • Improper water can damage internal components over time

Machine-Specific Considerations

  • Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides

Product FAQ

What plumbing connections does the S9 TA 2 Group need — water line, drain, and filtration?

It connects directly to a water line and a plumbed drain — there's no reservoir option, so direct plumbing is required. A commercial water filtration system is also required to protect the boiler and keep your warranty valid; we recommend the Mavea Purity C sized to your local water hardness.

Does the La Spaziale S9 TA 2 Group use a rotary pump, and how loud is it in a café setting?

Yes, the S9 TA 2 Group uses a commercial rotary pump. Rotary pumps are designed for continuous use and are quieter than vibration pumps, making them suitable for cafés and restaurants where noise levels matter.

Does the S9 TA (Tall Cup) version fit 16–20 oz to-go cups under the group heads without removing the drip tray?

Yes. The TA (Tall Cup) configuration gives you 160mm (6.3") of clearance under the grouphead, enough to pull shots directly into most standard 12–20 oz to-go cups without removing the drip tray. Extremely tall or unusually shaped cups may still need an adjustment, but standard takeaway sizes are covered.

Does the La Spaziale S9 TA 2 Group have pre-infusion for better espresso extraction?

The S9 series is equipped with an electronic pre-infusion/soft infusion function. This gently wets the coffee puck before full pressure is applied, promoting more even extraction and improving consistency shot to shot.

Are the steam wands on the S9 TA 2 Group cool-touch or no-burn, and how many steam wands does it have?

It has two steam wands and one hot water tap. Cool-touch (no-burn) wands are available as an optional upgrade — standard wands are traditional stainless steel and do get hot during use.

Is the boiler single or dual, and what is the boiler capacity on the S9 TA 2 Group?

It uses a single 10L heat-exchanger boiler, copper and brass construction, shared between brewing and steam — ample steam power and temperature stability through busy service without needing a second boiler.

Is the La Spaziale S9 TA 2 Group volumetric, and can I program shot volumes for each group?

Yes. The S9 TA 2 Group is a volumetric machine. Each group head has programmable dose buttons so you can set and store multiple shot volumes (e.g., single, double, long) for consistent extraction at the push of a button.

What power and electrical requirements does the S9 TA 2 Group?

It requires a dedicated 220-240V single-phase circuit at 30A (NEMA L6-30). This is a permanent commercial installation — have a licensed electrician run the dedicated circuit before delivery

How does paid installation work?

We want to make your purchase as smooth as possible and will pay the installation via rebate on commercial espresso machines. This includes commercial machines with more than 1 group head and 220V.

If the certified installer needed is over 1.5 hours away then we will pay for the installation call (and install up to the value suggested on page minus call fee). Travel will be paid by customer. Inquire if you have any questions about your location.

Please note, any discounts subject to void the paid installation offer.

At Coffeeionado, professional installation is included with qualifying espresso machine purchases. Our goal is to make the process as seamless as possible — from coordinating the technician to getting your machine up and running on day one.

Which Machines Qualify

Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.

If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.

What's Included

  • Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
  • Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
  • Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
  • Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself

Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.

How Installation Is Arranged

Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:

Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.

Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.

We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.

What's Not Included

The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:

  • Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
  • Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
  • Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
  • Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
  • False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation

Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.

Water Filtration Requirement

Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.

If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.

Service Area

Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.

Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.

After Installation

Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.

Governing Terms

This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.

Can I pick up the machine at your store?

We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.

However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
