Your regulars likely won't ask about your equipment, but they will notice the exact moment your consistency slips during a rush. Maintaining a high-volume coffee program requires a machine that manages the variables you don't have time to second-guess, like how shifting water chemistry is affecting your extraction. The Aurelia Wave uses Smart Water Technology to monitor these fluctuations in real-time, ensuring your staff spends less time troubleshooting and more time handing out drinks that taste the way you intended. This is the foundation for a bar that prioritizes technical accuracy over luck.
Product Features
High-Resolution Screen Display
A clear, high-resolution screen puts machine settings and diagnostics at the barista’s fingertips. Use it to program dosages, boiler pressure, pre-infusion and energy-saving modes for consistent output across shifts and operators.
Aurelia Wave Smart Water Technology
An optional onboard water-monitoring system that detects basic water parameters and warns the operator when water quality changes. Because water is the bulk of every shot and a common source of equipment issues, this feature acts as a safeguard that helps prevent extraction variability and reduce long-term service costs.
Volumetric Dosing (Wave Vol)
The Wave Vol platform provides programmable volumetric dosing for repeatable shot delivery in busy service. Built on the Aurelia lineage, it streamlines throughput while keeping dosing consistent across multiple baristas.
Programmable Pre-infusion & Boiler Pressure
Full control over pre-infusion timing and boiler pressure lets you dial extraction behavior to match roast profile and dose. These settings are adjustable via the display so recipes can be replicated reliably during high-volume service.
Large Stainless-Steel Boilers
A 14 L stainless-steel boiler delivers the thermal mass needed for sustained steam and consistent brew temperature across both groups under back-to-back demand. That capacity supports the machine's medium-high volume positioning without temperature drop during service rushes.
Commercial Certifications & Electrical Readiness
Engineered for commercial use with UL, SA and NSF/ANSI Std.4 certifications and 220 V supply at 22 A / 4700 W. Those specs simplify installation planning and ensure compliance with safety and health-code requirements in professional settings.
The Coffeeionado Take
Who's It For:
High-volume café operators who need consistency at scale — Smart Water Technology monitors water chemistry in real-time, eliminating the extraction variability that plagues shops during peak service
Multi-location café groups standardizing their equipment — Automatic volumetric dosing and precise temperature control deliver repeatable results across different staff and locations
Specialty coffee programs pulling 250-500 shots daily — The 13L boiler and rapid recovery handle serious volume without thermal drift or recovery lag
Right For You If:
Your daily shot count is 250-500 and you need a machine that maintains extraction quality from the first shot to the last without barista intervention.
Water quality in your area fluctuates or you want a machine that actively monitors and adapts to water chemistry changes automatically.
Your program runs multiple origins and you need consistent extraction across different roast profiles without constant recalibration.
Things to Consider:
The larger 13L boiler means a bigger machine — ensure your bar has the counter space and the electrical capacity to support it.
Smart Water Technology works best when paired with proper water filtration — factor a filtration system into your total investment.
The TFT display is intuitive but your baristas will need a brief training session to navigate the programmable settings effectively.
Our Take:
The Aurelia Wave AV is the machine for operators who want their equipment to solve problems before they happen — Smart Water Technology is a genuine differentiator that most competitors don't offer. If you're running a high-volume program and tired of chasing consistency issues, this machine handles the variables so your team can focus on the customers.

Heat Exchanger 14 Liter Boiler
This 14-liter commercial espresso machine with a heat exchange boiler is a high-powered and efficient coffee-making tool specifically designed for professional use in cafes, restaurants, and other commercial environments. Here are the key features:
Fast Recover: With such a large boiler, this machine will be able to take care of any rush and offer exceptional quality shot after shot with minimum recovery time.
Boiler Capacity: The 14-liter boiler offers plenty of space for making multiple espresso shots and steaming milk at the same time. Heat exchange machines utilize a single boiler to handle both brewing and steaming tasks.
Heat Exchange: In contrast to dual boiler machines that have separate boilers for brewing and steaming, heat exchange machines employ a single boiler with a heat exchange tube. This tube allows hot water from the boiler to heat the brewing water as it flows through, ensuring consistent brewing temperature.
Simultaneous Brewing and Steaming: Thanks to the heat exchange system, baristas can brew espresso shots while simultaneously frothing milk for lattes or cappuccinos. This simultaneous operation is essential during peak hours in a commercial setting.
Temperature Control: Heat exchange machines maintain steady water temperature for brewing purposes. The boiler remains at steaming temperature, while the heat exchange tube ensures that the brewing water is heated as needed.
Boiler Gauge
The pressure gauge on espresso machines is vital for producing top-notch espresso. It shows the pressure used to extract the coffee, ensuring that water passes through the grounds in the portafilter at the right force. Keeping this pressure steady is key to making excellent espresso shots every time.
Medium Volume Cafe
This handcrafted Italian espresso machine would be perfect in medium-volume cafes. It has made pulling shots as fast and simple as possible, allowing you to focus on your customers.
Suitable for: High quality coffee shops, medium - high volume locations, demanding professionals, barista competitors, specialty coffee shops.

Important Note
Always refer to your machine's manual for specific water quality recommendations and maintenance schedules.
Advisory
Install a water filtration system to maintain consistent water quality and extend the life of your espresso machine.
What This Means
Water that’s too hard → scale buildup, reduced performance
Water that’s too soft → flat, dull espresso
Improper water can damage internal components over time
Machine-Specific Considerations
Some machines (especially with stainless steel boilers) require stricter limits on chlorides
Is the Nuova Simonelli Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV a direct‑plumbed machine, or can it use a water reservoir?
The Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV is designed as a direct‑plumbed commercial espresso machine and must be connected to a pressurized water line; it does not have an internal pour‑over water reservoir.
Does the Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV use a rotary pump, and how loud is it in a café setting?
Yes. The Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV is equipped with a commercial‑grade rotary pump, which is quieter and more durable than a vibratory pump, making it suitable for cafés and high‑volume environments.
Does this machine have programmable volumetric dosing (auto‑volumetric) for consistent shot volumes?
Yes. The “AV” in the Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV stands for auto‑volumetric. Each group has programmable volumetric buttons that allow you to set and repeat precise shot volumes at the touch of a button.
Does the Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV include pre‑infusion, and can it be adjusted?
The Aurelia Wave AV includes a pre‑infusion function that gently soaks the coffee puck before full pressure extraction. Pre‑infusion duration can be adjusted through the machine’s programming menu to suit different coffees and recipes.
Are the steam wands cool‑touch or no‑burn, and how many steam wands does it have?
The Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV typically comes with two cool‑touch (no‑burn) steam wands. These are designed to stay cooler to the touch and reduce milk buildup, making steaming safer and easier to clean.
What kind of power requirements does the Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV have for use in the United States?
For US installations, the Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV generally requires a 220–240V, 50/60Hz, dedicated circuit with sufficient amperage (often in the 20–30A range, depending on configuration). Exact electrical specs should be confirmed from the machine’s data plate and local code requirements before installation.
What is the boiler configuration and capacity on the Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV, and is it a heat‑exchange machine?
The Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV is a heat‑exchange commercial espresso machine with a large main boiler (typically around 11–14 liters for the 2‑group model, depending on version). The heat‑exchange system allows you to brew espresso and steam milk simultaneously with strong steam performance.
Does the Aurelia Wave 2 Group AV have a built‑in shot timer or display to help monitor extractions?
Yes. The Aurelia Wave series includes a digital display and interface that can show shot times and other parameters, helping baristas monitor and dial in extractions more precisely.

Which Machines Qualify
Free professional installation is included with all espresso machines of 2 groups or more where indicated on the product listing. This policy applies to espresso machines only and does not cover other coffee equipment such as grinders, brewers, or accessories.
If you are unsure whether your machine qualifies, contact us before purchasing and we'll confirm.
What's Included
Travel and labor costs for installation within the technician's service area (up to 2 hours of travel)
Setup, basic programming, and commissioning of the equipment
Scheduling during regular business hours, Monday through Friday
Associated taxes and fees related to the installation itself
Installation must be completed within 30 days of delivery of the equipment. The installation benefit lapses after this window and cannot be reinstated.
How Installation Is Arranged
Depending on your purchase, installation is handled one of two ways:
Arranged directly — In many cases, Coffeeionado or the manufacturer will coordinate and pay the technician on your behalf. We will contact you after your order is processed to schedule the visit.
Reimbursement — In some cases, you may be asked to arrange the installation locally using an authorized technician and submit a rebate form for reimbursement. Once approved, the covered amount will be refunded to the original payment method used for your order.
We will confirm which arrangement applies to your purchase at the time of order confirmation. If you have questions before purchasing, contact us and we'll walk you through it.
What's Not Included
The following are outside the scope of the installation policy and remain the customer's responsibility:
Travel or callout costs beyond the first 2 hours of the technician's travel time — if your location falls outside the local service area, the overage is your responsibility
Water filtration systems and installation materials — including plumbing fittings, tubing, plugs, outlets, and any other ancillary components required to prepare the site
Electrical or plumbing work — site preparation must be completed before the technician arrives
Training on equipment operation — installation covers commissioning only, not barista or operational training
False start or callout fees if the technician arrives and the site is not ready for installation
Important: If a technician arrives and cannot complete the installation because the site is unprepared, you will be responsible for any callout or false start fee charged by the technician. However, your installation benefit remains intact — the visit will be rescheduled at no additional cost to your policy.
Water Filtration Requirement
Water filtration must be installed and operational before or at the time of installation. This is not optional — operating a commercial espresso machine without proper filtration will void the manufacturer's warranty. If filtration is not in place at the time of the technician's visit, installation may need to be rescheduled and the callout fee will be your responsibility.
If you need guidance on water filtration requirements for your machine, contact us before scheduling your installation.
Service Area
Installation coverage is tied to the manufacturer's authorized technician service area, generally within a 1.5-hour radius of the nearest certified technician. If your location falls outside this area, Coffeeionado will make reasonable efforts to arrange a local authorized technician, but travel costs beyond the 2-hour coverage limit remain your responsibility.
Not sure if you're in a service area? Contact us before purchasing and we'll check your location.
After Installation
Once your machine is installed, we'll provide referrals for authorized service technicians in your area for ongoing maintenance and repairs. Coffeeionado offers lifetime support on all equipment we sell — we're here long after the install is done.
Governing Terms
This installation policy forms part of your agreement with Coffeeionado and is subject to our Terms of Sale and Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict, the Terms of Service governs.
Can I pick up the machine at your store?
We do not have a showroom or storefront for customer pickups, so orders cannot be picked up directly from us. That said, there is an exception for La Spaziale and La Pavoni products, you can contact us to arrange.
However, if you'd prefer, we can arrange to have your machine shipped to a local freight terminal/location for pickup instead. Let us know your city/state (or ZIP code), and we’d be happy to check the nearest terminal options for you.
